We cannot thank the team at Ridgegate enough for the exceptional care they provide to my mother-in-law, Liz.

The staff are truly wonderful - they treat her with such dignity, warmth, and genuine affection. Every aspect of the home is excellent, from the cleanliness and the quality of the meals to

the engaging activities. Most importantly, it gives our family total peace of mind knowing she is in such a safe, supportive, and loving environment.

We couldn't ask for a better home for her; Ridgegate is an extension of our own home.

Reply from Kelly McManus, Registered Manager at Ridgegate Residential HomeThank you for your very kind words. We are truly grateful that you feel confident in the care we provide for Liz, and it means a great deal to know that our team's warmth, dignity and dedication have made such a positive difference.

My sister is always comfortable and happy. The staff are very caring and are obviously very fond of her. She is well looked after. There seem to be a very good range of activities and although my sister is not really able to participate very much, she does seem to enjoy the music and singing.

Staff are very nice, kind and caring towards mum. There has been some issues with kitchen equipment which have caused meals not being quite up to scratch. Should the garden gate be kept unlocked? The building was easily accessed on 5th March via this route when I came to take mum out for the afternoon.
Hence my lower ratings.
Reply from Kelly McManus, Registered Manager at Ridgegate Residential HomeThank you for your kind comments about our caring team. We welcome feedback as it helps us improve our service. We're sorry these concerns were not raised in our recent relatives' survey, as this would have allowed us to address them sooner

The kitchen matter related to a temporary gas supply issue affecting our ovens. Our menu was adapted while engineers completed repairs and this has now been resolved

Yes, the side gate remains unlocked during the day as part of our fire safety arrangements, however, visitors are asked to use the main entrance so our team can offer assistance. Residents are free to enjoy the home and grounds, with door alerts in place on external doors

We provide daily activities, including one-to-one sessions for residents who prefer time in their rooms, such as your mother. We will contact you directly to discuss any suggestions regarding your mother's bedroom, as we encourage residents to make their room their own.

Thanks again for your feedback

Mum has been in Ridgegate since December 25 and she needed help with her mental health as well as her physical health. The care team work hard with us the family and the medical team from the local surgery. And she is now very happy in her environment. Her room is always clean and fresh. The staff are
all extremely friendly and very professional with mums needs along with the other residents in the home. We would fully recommend Ridgegate to any other family's looking for care.
Reply from Kelly McManus, Registered Manager at Ridgegate Residential HomeThank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review Craig. Your mum is a wonderful addition to our home, and its a pleasure having gotten to know her family too. We're glad you're happy with the care.

My dad has lived at Ridgegate Home for just over a year now and I couldn't be happier with the level of care he receives. Ridgegate is a friendly family home and is a lovely place to visit at any time of the day.
My dad suffers with both physical and mental health issues and I am grateful to the attentive
staff who make sure he is included in the many home activities.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ridgegate to others.

Respite care for mum went well and provided opportunity for a much needed break. All staff were helpful and courteous and mum was happy with her experience. She was able to get her hair done whilst there and made friends with many of the residents. Thanks for taking care of her!

Since admission in September 2024 the staff have been nothing but professional, caring and respectful, towards the care of my relative.
They have no problem with visitors turning up at the home at any time, and also being accompanied by family pets.

Mum has received excellent care and support from all the Ridgegate Residential Home team including her GP, hairdresser and the in-house activities. The home is kept to a high standard of freshness and cleanliness. Mum especially enjoys the food menu and really looks forward to meal times and home made
treats. They respect Mum's choices and treat her with dignity. She feels safe.

My wife has been in Ridgegate for approximately for 2 years She initially arrived for respite care and then progressed to become a resident. She suffered from Lewy body dementia which affects her memory and physical movement.
She is well looked after and seems to be very happy as much as you can tell.
She interacts with the staff at all levels. and is known for his smiles.
She is encouraged to take part in activities with some success.
I was in Ridgegate myself for 4 weeks after 5 weeks in East Surrey Hospital. I was well looked after and cared for by the dedicated and management team.

Ridgegate was home for my mother-in-law for nearly four years, and during that time she was exceptionally well looked after. We have only the highest praise for the staff who care for all the residents. The warmth and compassion shown to my mother-in-law was remarkable. The staff kind, thoughtful and
very caring in their desire to meet her every need. They built a very strong relationship with my mother-in-law, and they made her feel safe and secure. We always felt that they knew her as a person, not just another resident. As family members we all felt very at home there when visiting - the management team do a great job in choosing a team of very dedicated staff. The activities and entertainment were always very good with huge effort going into marking special events - birthdays, Christmas etc, which is testament to the commitment of the staff. We have no hesitation in recommending Ridgegate, and feel very grateful that this was where we chose for my mother-in-law to be.

Mum has lived at Ridgegate for a number of years and it is where she feels comfortable, it's home. Her care needs have recently become more complex and these changes have been met with compassion, dignity and patience. Many of the staff have formed strong attachments to Mum, she is genuinely loved as
well as receiving expert care. This is particularly important to me as I live in a different part of the country and need to know she has a safe harbour. Lovely building and gardens, a good range of activities, careful and considered nutrition, extremely clean, kind and attentive staff, and clear communication pathways with the care team and management. The best place for Mum.

Mum originally was admitted into Ridgegate as an emergency admission five years ago due to intermittent bouts of illness, the home had been recommended to us as a family. At a time when we were all very worried about our mum's health Ridgegate provided a safe place for her to stay as well as providing
the care she required at the time. We knew from the very first time we stepped into Ridgegate what a special place it was and still is, the management and staff are extremely kind, compassionate and caring, you could see why it was called 'A Home with a Heart'. The Manager, Deputy and senior care team were always approachable, professional and transparent and each time we visited Mum we were greeted and treated like old friends. Over the five years, Mum stayed at Ridgegate many times for respite, each time we experienced the same level of care and kindness. I would not hesitate in recommending Ridgegate to anyone.

I have always found the staff and management at Ridgegate to be very friendly and helpful in caring for my friend who is not always the easiest person to deal with. Members of management have at times gone out of their way to assist with matters which are not strictly their responsibility. I feel quite
confident that my friend is receiving a very good level of care and is certainly much happier now they are at Ridgegate than when they were alone at home previously with carers visiting. There is a very homely atmosphere, and I have been told by my friend the food is good and that the chef is happy to prepare food to suit residents' requirements. There are regular activities, an excellent hairdresser, and a very pleasant garden room and garden.

I can't praise the staff highly enough for their kindness and diligence, especially when my mother was in the last few weeks of life. She lived at Ridgegate from 2019 and always said how happy she was there. They organised entertainment, quizzes, and garden parties - which we all enjoyed attending too.
She made new friends. I could rest assured that she was in safe hands, such a relief when you hear of others' poor experiences of elderly care elsewhere. It was home for Mum.

My wife's sister came into your residence first for rest care for a 6 week period but when she got back to her small flat she wanted to be back at Ridgegate House because she missed all of the staff and residents who she could talk because she was lonely so after talking to the office who were great
it was arranged for her to move in last September. She was able to take her own bed and other items to make her feel at home which she does. The staff look after her and she is very happy there and when we visit we are greeted with respect and always asked if we would like a coffee and a biscuit. She has only been there a short time but she is so very happy and thanks to all of you who do such a great job.

My mother has been in Ridgegate Home for approximately 10 years and has always been given the best care possible. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and my mother has been very well looked after. Any time there has been an issue with her health, Ridgegate have immediately assessed and taken
care of the situation. If a hospital visit has been needed, the home have immediately taken care of my mother and arranged such a visit. When the COVID rules were put in place during COVID they were adhered to in the most professional way too. I can say that I would not want my mother to be in any other facility than Ridgegate and I know she feels the same. The management and carers always do a wonderful job in making the residents feel comfortable and always celebrate holidays with decorations and food to match the occasion. The entertainment given to the residents is always fun and the atmosphere there is very good. I highly recommend Ridgegate Home to any families with loved ones.

My Nan was offered Ridgegate House back in February 2023 after being told that the care home she was in was closing.
My first impression of Ridgegate was how homely it was.
It is very much a home-from-home environment and the transition for my nan was hassle-free.
She has settled in really well and
the care and attention that she receives is amazing.
The Christmas party and the Summer garden party are put together with a huge amount of effort by all of the staff.
They go above and beyond.
I wish we could've found it sooner.
Would thoroughly recommend it.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.723)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.723) out of 10 for Ridgegate Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.723 for Ridgegate Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (231 Excellents x 5) + (63 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 303 Ratings = 4.723
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ridgegate Residential Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
