I don't know much about the facilities in the UK, but don't have any concurrence. The staff here are amazing, the care and love they show is just wonderful. The manager is showing an eye for excellence.

Think, on the whole, you all do an amazing job. My father is a very introverted character who is very difficult to please! His interests are many but he doesn't like the 'entertainment supplied', he prefers the old entertainment like newspaper reviews. His deafness is detrimental to socialising. He
will be happier when we can visit his room and get his radio and programming TV done.

My mum was a resident at Wavertree House from February 2020 until she passed away in December. I found arranging for a parent to go into a care setting for the first time a big responsibility and I am certain it was a daunting prospect for her at the age of 97. When I visited Wavertree to look round
and talk to the team, I felt straight away Mum would be properly cared for in a comfortable environment and so it proved. Mum said frequently how well she was looked after and enjoyed the various activities the team arranged. Although the restrictions in place due to COVID19 meant things had to be done differently they took great pains to enable the family to keep in contact. I am glad to say I was able to be with Mum when the time came and I am grateful for that as I know she was aware I was there. The team always treated her with kindness, consideration and affection so my view of Wavertree is a very positive one.

Wavertree was recommended by a paramedic after my Nan had a fall. When paramedics recommend a home that can only be a good sign. From being shown around the home I instantly had a good feeling. I think what sets this home above others is the staff. The care they give, often above and beyond what is
expected of them, is wonderful. I can’t remember seeing agency staff. The staff were always welcoming and knew my Nan so well. During the lockdown, they made sure she still got her hair done by colouring it themselves. They sang with her, did her makeup and encouraged her to join in with activities. She had a lovely room on the ground floor which they helped make feel like home. In fact, my Nan thought she’d got herself a nice new flat. Sadly my Nan passed away in the summer but the end of life care we witnessed and experienced was second to none. She was treated with the utmost dignity up until the very end and beyond. I miss my Wavertree family and cannot recommend this home highly enough.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.506)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.506) out of 10 for Wavertree House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for Wavertree House is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.554 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wavertree House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.854
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
