We love that there are flats here and not just rooms. My lady wanted a separate bedroom and sitting room as well as a small kitchen and bathroom. The care here we have found so much better than the previous two care homes she tried. The residents here are treated so kindly and with a lot of respect.
She has never said anything that has worried us since moving here. Everyone has treated us kindly as well and we couldn't be happier.

I have visited my sister-in-law with my brother on several occasions and have always been impressed by the surroundings, the care and the overall quality of all services provided. I found her room clean, fresh and comfortable and also she was clean and tidy. I have attended with my brother a few times
and been very impressed all round with the daily activities and refreshments provided and the care given to my sister-in-law as well as my brother in what has been a very difficult time for him.
Having had experience of other care homes this one far exceeds any other and I would recommend it to anyone of my family and friends.

Hallamshire

At the beginning of the summer we started looking at care homes for Mum, as she was no longer capable of living on her own. It was a very hard decision to make, but on visiting Hallamshire Care Home we immediately felt that it was the right place for her. Every single member of staff is friendly, caring,
helpful and patient with residents and visitors alike. We knew that Mum would be safe, well looked after and cared for.
There are daily activities which residents are encouraged to take part in. These are varied, catering to all interests and abilities, and include trips into the community for those who are able, such as a visit to a local pub for Sunday Carvery and a Cycle in a local park. These are such special things which Mum has been involved in.
The home is well maintained, always clean and the food fresh and varied. There are lovely gardens to sit in when the weather is good.
We are so pleased we found Hallamshire and happy to say that Mum is settled and cared for.

Alsley Lodge

from Carol B (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 December 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I heard about Alsley Lodge from my sister in law who explained how the Home didn't "feel" like a traditional "care home" and when my Dad was in need of some respite care in May 2025, I contacted Amy (the Registered Manager) to see if any rooms were available for him as a transition prior to him returning
to independent living.

From the day he arrived, when Louise demonstrated her caring nature by bringing a wheelchair out to the car for him and made him (and I) feel so relaxed and welcome, to seven months later when Dad is now a firmly established member of Alsley Lodge, he couldn't have been looked after any better. He's loved the company, the trips out, the staff and the daily activities. He moved from respite into his own room in June and he looks younger now, than he did when he moved in there. Thank you to everyone involved in looking after Dad, you have changed the latter years of his life and for that, I am truly grateful. You've given me my Dad back!

My friend for which I have Power of Attorney, is frail and has very little eyesight. Staff have helped her in relinquishing the independence she has enjoyed always, both personally and professionally. She chose Orchar for herself a number of years ago, and I believe she made an excellent choice. Within
the constraints of a nursing home environment staff provide as natural a home as possible - activities are especially varied, interesting and fun.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum spent a little over 3 1/2 years at Hallamshire. She improved in body and mind, with company, care and the various activities stimulating her. The staff were always brilliant in offering care and support. There is very much a "family" feeling about the care home. Family members can come and go freely,
and it was always nice to be greeted by familiar staff, too. The seemingly low staff turnover helps to maintain consistency of care.

From the moment I met Beti at Oaklands I had a good feeling. After being shown around, I just knew this was the place for my mother and after a year of mum being there I have been proven right! The kindness, care and friendliness shown to both my mother and myself is above and beyond what I have experienced
in previous homes. All of the staff are outstanding and any request is met with prompt attention - nothing is too much effort. The head of activities keeps them all busy - balloon tennis is very popular with my mother and the other residents and if they wish to do something else he comes up with alternatives, no one is left out. From the day mum moved in my constant worries disappeared and one cant say more than that!

I feel so lucky that we found Charlton Kings Care Home over a year ago. All the residents are treated with respect, kindness, patience and dignity, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The job of the carers is very far from easy, yet they are cheerful, efficient and extremely competent and
the atmosphere is very pleasant. There are frequent activities and events that include families, which is very special for loved ones. We've attended summer barbecues, bonfire/fireworks nights, themed parties, singalongs. And often when I'm visiting, I witness games, quizzes, visiting animals, musical performances, bird displays etc. I'm also well informed of how mum is getting on. On one occasion, mum needed a hospital visit and I was overseas.... a member of staff accompanied mum to the hospital and spent all night there with her. I cannot even express what that meant to me that mum wasn't alone for that experience. The staff at this Care Home deserve medals

Michelle and her team at Brampton provide excellent service and support to their residents. The atmosphere is always happy, positive and welcoming.
Mum was originally only due to stay for some respite care but has settled in as a full time resident without any qualms. She is delighted with the care
and support she receives and has found the interaction with the various members of staff very enjoyable.
Thank you all

I could not fault the care my dear friend received. It felt like every member of staff went above and beyond. It was a comfort to know how well she was looked after in her last few days. I just wish she could have had long with you. Thank you.
