My sister was admitted to Brampton Lodge in 2025 and was made to feel at home. The staff work fantastic as my sister was a difficult person. Only reason she was moved to another home was because of her dementia

I would highly recommend Hallamshire Care Home to anyone looking for a caring and welcoming home for a loved one. My friend has received excellent care, and it is clear that the staff genuinely care about the residents.

Everyone we have met has been kind, friendly and respectful. They are patient, attentive and always willing to help, which gives us great peace of mind. The staff make an effort to treat residents as individuals and ensure they feel comfortable, valued and supported.

It is reassuring to see my friend settled and happy, knowing they are in a safe environment with people who care about their wellbeing.

A big thank you to all the staff at Hallamshire Care Home for their dedication, compassion and hard work. Your efforts make a real difference, and they are very much appreciated.

My wife is a resident in Oaklands Nursing Home Hove where she receives excellent care.I visit her twice daily and have always been warmly welcomed and updated on any relevant matters. If i cannot attend on a particular day i always advise the team in advance.Recently i was unable to visit on one day but forgot to tell the staff.Because the home management were concerned about me every effort was made to contact me to ensure i was ok.

A marvellous example of how the staff show care and compassion to both their patients and their relatives.I feel my wife and myself are valued and supported 24/7. Well done all at Oaklands.

Review of Hallamshire from L C (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 August 2026 Submitted via Website

We placed my Dad at Hallamshire for some temporary respite care in July. The team were extremely helpful and kind arranging the placement at short notice. They demonstrated a great understanding of Dads care needs and the carers went above and beyond to help him settle in quickly. The home was spotlessly clean and the food was excellent. Family and friends visiting Dad were always made very welcome: the gardens were a beautiful, tranquil space to spend some precious time with Dad.

Our mum stayed here for a 3 day respite. We were so impressed with the care and attention by all the friendly and helpful staff. Mum was so relaxed and appreciated the level of personal care and attention she received. HI, will you please pass this round to all the staff who were involved with organising the Summer Fair. Firstly a massive thanks to the girls in the kitchen. OOH the brownies were delicious and the BBQ and salads were perfect. I know a lot of prep time was needed to cater for all those people and you did a superb job! BIg shout out to those who organised the raffles and games. What a shame that Chelsea didn't manage to get Peter in the paddling pool! The magician and the singer both did a great job entertaining us all. Last but not least a huge thanks to Alan. The garden and pots look stunning, a big task in this hot weather. As always the afternoon was. GREAT SUCCESS.

Please pass this on to the owners of HCH, they need to know what an amazing team they have and how much we appreciate all their hard work. Love to you all from S and D and all our family.

Review of Nightingale from M S (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 6 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Work makes visiting very tricky but mum has been in their care for a number of years and at no time have i worried or had concerns regards the care she has received.
The staff are caring attentive and the residents always appear to be engaged in a variety of events and activities.
The connection and updates through social media also help, given the limited access to visiting. They also keep me fully aware of any changes or requirements to her needs.

In all a great location but more so the staff are a credit to the home.

Mum has been living at the Hallamshire Care Home for just over a year. From day one she was made to feel welcome by all of the staff. She has settled in well and is definitely well looked after, enjoying home cooked food, and treats such as ice cream in the hot weather and popcorn on movie night. Mum regularly participates in the daily activities, which range from memory games, to craft sessions, to gentle exercise. She has been on various outings, and her most memorable trip was to a reindeer farm which she still mentions now. There are regular activities which visitors can join in with, such as afternoon tea, and cheese and wine evenings. These are such a lovely way to make memories together as a family.

The staff are brilliant, and we are more than happy with the care that Mum receives from them all.

Review of Oaklands Nursing Home from Cathy T (Relative of Resident) published on 31 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My relative has been resident at Oaklands for nearly a year. Right from the start I found the staff & management at Oaklands kind, helpful & pro-active in setting up and continuing his care. The very comfortable amenities & calm ambiance of the communal areas of the home are backed up by professional, friendly & considerate staff. There is an admirable attention to detail, including making sure that he has the equipment & furniture appropriate to his current needs. It is clear that my relative feels both comfortable & content here. No review would be complete without noting the quality of the meals provided, both in the actual food & its attractive presentation - despite being on a 'softer food diet' the dishes my relative is served always look nutritious, delicious & appetising. I would love to report how they taste but there is never anything left on the plate to try!

I can't recommend this nursing home highly enough. My dad has been a resident for a few months now, and the care he receives is just amazing. He's always involved in activities and spending time in the communal areas with other residents, and the staff treat him with real dignity and warmth.
They're also so flexible when I bring my young son to visit - he always gets included and engaged with, which means a lot to us. Every resident I see seems happy, clean, and well cared for.
The facilities are lovely too, with a nice terrace the residents can enjoy when the weather's good. Dad's room is modern and really high standard.

All round, it's a wonderful home, and I'm so happy he's there.

Mum has been at the home for almost two months & on the whole the experience has been positive. It is a huge decision to place a parent into care but the staff have welcomed her & do their best to make her feel safe. Review of Hillcroft from Stanley B (Husband of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My review for the period
October 2025 - July 2026.
My wife who has Dementia had a fall in October and sustained a broken Hip / Wrist and a large cut above her eye and was hospitalised for over three weeks,
On her return to Hillcroft she had lost a lot weight and was traumatised bedridden and would not eat or drink.
The staff reassured me that she would ok and that she would be cared for all her needs.
Well since then I've been amazed how she has improved with all the care and dedication the staff at Hillcroft have done .
She now eats and drinks on her own.
She has also started walking again with a little help.
She has just be examined by Elms for our local doctor and they are amazed at her improvements in that she is more alert and her BMI and Weight, is near normal.

I can honestly say and believe that my wife would not be with us today without all the care and dedication from all at Hillcroft.

Reply from Peter McCarten, Manager at Hillcroft

Thank you so much for your review Stan. We have all been so happy to watch your wife get stronger each day and we are over the moon that her weight is improving and she has been able to mobilise. It really is amazing to see that she is happy again. Her smile really lights up the room.
