My mother has been in Alsley Lodge for nearly 3 years. Throughout that time, everything about Alsley - the leadership, carers, activities, food and accommodation has been first rate.
I feel my mother has been treated with care, respect and massive empathy for her varying mental and physical issues.
Myself and my family have utmost confidence in the staff of Alsley Lodge in their care for my/our mother!

My Mum has been at Alsley for almost 12 months. She came initially for respite and stayed. Looking first at a number of care homes I became increasingly despondent and felt none were suitable. Alsley changed all that within a short time of entering this bright, clean home where chatter and laughter
formed a lovely backdrop. Mum's care has been excellent. The whole team, led by Amy and Kelly are caring, compassionate, friendly and professional. I was surprised at how quickly they got to know Mum, encouraging and supporting her as she adapted to a big change in her life. They are quick to understand how she's feeling and are very good at communicating with us, her family. Any aspect of her care can be discussed whenever necessary. There's always lots going on and Mum loves the afternoons when a singer comes along to entertain.
I'm so grateful that I know my Mum is in safe, kind hands. Thank you all at Alsley.

My dad moved into Asley Lodge June 25 after being in another care home.
The staff are marvelous and love my dad and he loves them.
Before moving into Alsley his diet was very poor. Now he loves his food!
The home is very clean and smells fresh.
I recommend Alsley Lodge to everyone.
Reply from Amy McEvoy, Manager at Alsley LodgeThank you for your kind words, it is a true pleasure to look after your dad and have you both as part of the Alsley Lodge community.

I heard about Alsley Lodge from my sister in law who explained how the Home didn't "feel" like a traditional "care home" and when my Dad was in need of some respite care in May 2025, I contacted Amy (the Registered Manager) to see if any rooms were available for him as a transition prior to him returning
to independent living.

From the day he arrived, when Louise demonstrated her caring nature by bringing a wheelchair out to the car for him and made him (and I) feel so relaxed and welcome, to seven months later when Dad is now a firmly established member of Alsley Lodge, he couldn't have been looked after any better. He's loved the company, the trips out, the staff and the daily activities. He moved from respite into his own room in June and he looks younger now, than he did when he moved in there. Thank you to everyone involved in looking after Dad, you have changed the latter years of his life and for that, I am truly grateful. You've given me my Dad back!

Reply from Amy McAvoy, Manager at Alsley LodgeThank you for your lovely and thoughtful words. It is a genuine pleasure to care for your dad; his humour and warm personality are always appreciated. We're grateful to have him-and you-as members of our community.

Mum has been in Alsley Lodge for nearly 8 months after coming out of hospital in December and myself and other family members are very impressed with the care she receives and the improvement in her health and well-being.
The atmosphere at Alsley Lodge is always cheerful, the staff are compassionate
and professional, and genuine care is always given. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and any medical needs are dealt with promptly whilst keeping me informed. We can visit Mum at any time of the day and are always made to feel welcome even at their busiest times.
The activities team are excellent and there are always several activities on each day and trips out which Mum thoroughly enjoys. Mum has her hair done every week in their hair salon which enjoys.
Since Mum has been at Alsley Lodge we have had peace of mind as we know she is getting excellent care 24hrs a day and are happy that she has settled in so well. We honestly cannot fault them.
Reply from Amy McEvoy, Manager at Alsley LodgeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a great deal to all of us at Alsley Lodge to hear how happy you and your family are with the care your mum is receiving. We're delighted to know she has settled in well and is enjoying the activities, outings, and her weekly visits to the salon! Our team works hard to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for all our residents, so your feedback is incredibly encouraging.

Mum has been in a few care homes so I am in a good position to compare.
Ashley Lodge is, without doubt, the best care home she has ever been in, there are no smells, the food is excellent, but best of all the staff are outstanding and nothing is too much trouble.
My only disappointment is I wish
we had come here sooner.

The overall care given is very good. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. Hygiene and cleanliness are good and health care and medication are professionally administered and managed. There are many different and varied activities organised for residents and the catering is very good. There
is a constant program of internal and external building and garden improvements and maintenance.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with Alsley Lodge and the staff.

We moved my mum to Alsley Lodge after a bad few years with a well-known Southport care home group. It was difficult at first for us to move her and the first few weeks were worrying. But the staff at the home have been fantastic with the move.
I took the decision to move Mum further away from us as
we couldn't find a home with the same care locally to us. My father had been here previously on respite and I was impressed by the level of care.
The food is home-cooked and of an excellent standard. I have sampled it myself! There are lots of activities for the residents and great members of staff who bring lots of stimulating events.
After a short time, we have a friendly approach with the staff and residents.
The most important is that my mum is being looked after and now, after three years in another home, this has happened. Any issues with my mum are dealt with promptly and professionally and with communication with myself.
Thank you to all the staff in Alsley Lodge.

I am so pleased we chose Alsley Lodge for my dad. He has been at the home for 5 months and we couldn't be happier with the care he receives. The home has a lovely feel to it, everyone is so friendly and it feels more like a big family. All of the staff care so well for the residents and work very hard
as a dedicated team, always with a smile on their faces. I have always felt welcomed by everyone and feel at ease talking with the staff about any issues. They know and understand my dad very well and have dealt with any medical needs efficiently. The home is well managed and there have been lots of internal improvements recently which add to the homely feel. What I feel has really benefitted my dad are the daily activities and outings they organise for those that are able. The activities coordinators do a wonderful job - he is regularly out and about on organised trips and there is something on every day (and regular entertainment) which I feel has improved his overall health and well-being.
Reply from Amy McAvoy, Manager at Alsley LodgeThank you so much for your lovely review, it is always nice to hear families are happy with the care and support we provide to their loved ones. we love supporting your dad he is a true gent with a bright smile. My mother is a resident of Alsley Lodge and has been for the last couple of years. During December 2023 leading up to Christmas I found the staff went above and beyond decorating the home for Christmas, including my mother and the other residents in the process.
Me and my brother brought her home for
Christmas. The staff made sure she had clothes packed and her medication, which was very helpful.
The staff are always very helpful and courteous to myself and my mother. I am very happy that she is being looked after.
Reply from Amy McEvoy, Manager at Alsley LodgeThank you so much for your lovely review, your mum is such an amazing lady who is always at hand to help others around her and likes to help keep everywhere tidy by collecting dishes which is always a bonus! Thanks again.

We as a family are so happy with how she is being cared for and how well she has settled in.
They provide wonderful home-cooked meals with a varied menu in a lovely dining room.

I previously looked after my mum in her own home but this became increasingly difficult due to progressing dementia. I looked at several care homes before I found Alsley Lodge Care Home. We needed respite for a family holiday, which we were fortunate to book at relatively short notice. As this approached,
it became apparent this needed to be a permanent arrangement and the Alsley Lodge team made a difficult time as good as it could be. The care has been outstanding. Her room is modern and fresh with an en-suite wet room. She enjoys getting her hair done every week, she doesn't participate in many activities but there are a variety of things on offer. The attention to detail is excellent, e.g. mouth care. Her mobility isn't good but we are able to put her in a wheelchair and take her to the coffee shop across the road. She enjoys the food which is nutritious and varied. Everyone is friendly and I know it is the best place for my lovely mum, she is very content.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Alsley Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.975 for Alsley Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 204 Ratings = 4.975
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alsley Lodge is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
