This is my husband's second stay at Oaklands for two weeks Respite Care.
On arrival this time he was greeted back by friendly and welcoming staff. The facilities are very good and the care he receives is personal and attentive. Big thank you to staff for spotting early signs of possible infection
and dealing with it promptly.
He was included in the regular activities created for residents so didn't have to feel left out or isolated. He thoroughly enjoys the food which is always freshly prepared and adapted to personal requirements.
I would recommend Oaklands for anyone seeking good quality respite care.

A little gem overlooking Brighton, Oaklands nursing home offers comfortable accommodation, well thought out activities, lovely food, all in a happy atosphere and a beautiful garden. Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff. One reservation - a bit pricey.

My poor old mum has Alzheimer and is not aware of the comings and goings of anyone. The carers at Oaklands are so caring and patient, they are so kind and look after mum's personal needs so well. My mum always looks clean and smells nice, when we go.
The home, in general, always looks clean and well
cared for, just like the residents.
When mum was more aware of things, she enjoyed the daily activities. There is a lot going on.
Thankyou so much to all the staff at Oaklands, which make it a really calm and enjoyable place to be.
Reply from Beti Koder, Manager at Oaklands Nursing HomeDear Mary,
Thank you very much for your kind words. It is our pleasure to look after your lovely mother. Although she is not able to join in our scheduled activities anymore, she is responding well to our staff when attended in the room. Her unique character makes her very special.

My mum is very happy at Wavertree. She has settled very well, and her home is her room. Olly was great at putting up pictures. All the staff have been and still are fantastic! They are so caring, kind, and do everything they can to make the residents feel comfortable, happy and safe. The welcome at
reception is warm, and I've always found them helpful, considerate and informative. A great place for my mum.Thank you!

Oaklands Care Home originally cared for my father between 2021 and 2022. He received excellent care when he was there. When my mother got to the point where she needed greater help than she was receiving at home, we had no hesitation in asking Oaklands to care for her from mid 2025, initially on a respite
care basis and now as a full time resident. Beti and her team are caring and professional and always do their best to provide an excellent service, whilst working in conjunction with family members to keep them appraised of day to day issues.
Reply from Beti Koder, Acting Manager at Oaklands Nursing HomeDear Andrew,
Thank you for your lovely review. Your mom is a very lovely lady and we are very happy having her at Oaklands. Knowing her before she became our resident as a wife of one of our residents, makes our relationship totally unique and in many ways helped to create better relationship between us all.

My mother spent two weeks in Wavertree House while her toilet was replaced at home. I was very happy with her stay. Overall it was a positive experience; nothing was too much trouble for the very pleasant staff; her room was spotlessly clean, warm and had a lovely view over the garden. She particularly
enjoyed having an assisted bath, complete with coloured highlights! Her only complaint was in relation to meals arriving at unpredictable times and sometimes cold, but the regular tea and coffee trolley with biscuits and sometimes homemade cake was a delight. Having a kitchenette also helped her to feel independent, and being able to get her hair cut was a bonus.

I found myself in unfamilia terrirory when mum became ill with Dementia and was told she would need to go in to residential care, but with the amazing support and care shown towards my mum and myself we settled quickly. From the management, nurses and every carer their compasion and empathy showned to
all residents is exemplary. There is lots of activitys which mum loves doing painting, drawing, playing games and trips out.I am so happy that i can visit at any time, take her out or just sit in the garden then go home knowing she is safe and happy.I recomend to everyone looking for a warm and happy environment to place a love one, oaklands is 1st class and after 5 months my mum is thriving.

I have just recently lost my mum who lived at Oaklands for just over five years. Throughout that time, the care that she received has been exemplary and I am so grateful to Beti and all the lovely staff who made those final years as good as they could possibly be for an increasingly confused and infirm
elderly lady.
It's a beautiful building with excellent rooms and facilities which are always clean and airy, but it's the staff who made Oaklands so very special. The genuine affection that they have for their residents was so clear throughout my mum's time there. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they looked after her in a way that I will always be grateful for. They saw beyond the increasingly confused 91 year-old who could be very determined to do things her own way (!) and connected with the lovely person that she was.
I will miss my mum but will also miss the friendly welcoming atmosphere and people at Oaklands. You are superheroes, thank you so much xx
Reply from Beti Koder, Manager at Oaklands Nursing HomeDear Graham,
Thank you very much for wonderful words as always. I am sure that I am speaking in the name of all my staff when I say that we will all miss your mom and that it was our pleasure looking after her all these years. Like you said, she had her own way of doing stuff but she also had the most infectious smile and was able to melt anyones heart in the moment no matter what she did. We will all remember her for years to come the same we will miss you and your lovely family. Thank you for you kindness and the support you' ve given us all these years. Regards, Beti

We love that there are flats here and not just rooms. My lady wanted a separate bedroom and sitting room as well as a small kitchen and bathroom. The care here we have found so much better than the previous two care homes she tried. The residents here are treated so kindly and with a lot of respect.
She has never said anything that has worried us since moving here. Everyone has treated us kindly as well and we couldn't be happier.
