I moved my Dad here 6 months ago after reviewing about 6 other care homes in the area, this was the best in my opinion and they had just had a room become available. The room was a good size along with the ensuite bathroom. We were able to have some of his own furniture and fittings too. The food is good and the staff are caring and friendly and always happy to greet you when visiting at any time of the day or evening. I would highly recommend a visit to Byways if you are looking for a care home.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. We loved looking after dad, he was such a lovely man, with a great sense of humour. We are delighted to hear that you have been so happy with the care and support that Dad received since joining us at Byway House. It means a...
My very close friend Gillian of 33 years was a resident at The Byway from October 2025 until she passed away in May 2026. I was very happy to recommend the Byway to her as my Mother in Law had been a resident there and the level of care was exceptional. The care of staff and management was amazing and Gillian from day 1 felt relaxed and very comfortable in this well facilitated Residential Care Home. Gillian always was positive about the food and how friendly the staff were to her. When visiting we were always welcomed in a very friendly manner and looked after with refreshments. Towards the end of her life, she received excellent pallitive care as if they were caring for one of their own family members. To conclude, it is like a 'home from home' atmosphere where all needs are catered for and I can highly recommend The Byway. A huge thank you to all the staff.
Thank you for your kind words and recommending Byway House. It means a great deal to all of us at Byway House. Gillian is still very missed.
The home is excellent. The carers are second to none. The food is of a very high standard. The activities are excellent. Mum in particular enjoys the drumming and flower arrangement. We are pleased we can visit at any time of day. As visitors we are treated well having drinks and cake. Mum looks forward to Friday's when she has fish and chips. The home is well run. The carers certainly deserve to be paid more. They treat mum with love and affection. Mum is very happy. Thank-you xxxx
it is wonderful to know that you feel welcomed when visiting and that you enjoy spending time...
If you are looking for an excellent care home on the south coast near Bognor, you should visit Byway before making a choice. Our mother has lived at Byway since 2019. When she moved here, we were told this is now her home, not just where she lives. That sounds good, but is it true? 7 years on I can confidently say YES. Our mum is very happy, as are we. She is well cared for and completely safe. She enjoys proper home cooking, good facilities and a nice cross section of activities and entertainment. These are important, but the most important thing is the staff. They are, without exception, very caring people who provide exceptional care for mum. Sadly, as a society, we do not pay people what they are worth. I know you don't become a carer to get rich, but it is concerning that the care given to mum is not adequately rewarded. I wouldn't do their job. I would like to thank them all and hope one day they will be properly rewarded. Choose Byway, you won't regret it!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and generous review. it means a great deal to hear that your mum feels at home with us and that she is happy, well cared for and enjoying both the food and the range of activities available, creating a place like home not just a place...
I think it's,as bear to a real home as can be.
Thank you so much for submitting your review, we have loved looking after your loved one and will continue to do so. I will pass on your feedback to the staff team.
A lovely care home in a lovely area. I would highly recommend this home. The staff are very friendly and welcoming , nothing is too much trouble. There is always a good variety of activities for both residents and relatives, should they wish to join in. A good selection of meals that are excellent and freshly prepared.
Thank you for taking the time and completing this wonderful 5 star review. Its an absolute pleasure looking after your mum. Thank you for recognising our amazing staff team here at Byway. I will pass these comments on.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very welcoming.
I cannot recommend Byway House enough. They go way beyond what I would expect of them.
The food is always freshly prepared and visitors are welcomed with tea and cake.
Byway was home from home for Dad.
Thank you Alison for your kind words. It was an absolute pleasure looking after dad for them 4 years. We wish you and your family all the best and know you are always welcome to pop by for a coffee and a piece of cake.
Food is excellent and the accommodation likewise.
On entering the Byway , I was immediately impressed by how the staff and residents interacted.
Nothing is too much trouble.I thoroughly recommend The Byway.
Thank you for your review. It was an absolute pleasure looking after your mum.
Byway House feels like home for my husband, everyone have been welcoming. The nursing care + managers have been excellent it has made the decision of leaving someone dear, in a care home easier.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, we love looking after your loved one and it makes us happy to know that he feels so at home with us here at Byway House.
I think its a wonderful care home. Patients are well cared for. Its like home from home. The staff are always happy + cheerful + very obliging.
Byway House is an exceptional home from home. It's like walking in to a warm hug. The staff are friendly, kind and knowledgeable . There is alway a big welcome when I visit , always an offer of tea and cake and nothing is too much trouble to make life as normal as possible for my friend. The best bit ( easily the drummer) is that I can still enjoy activities with my friend in the comfort of her home.
Thankyou for the lovely review. An absolute pleasure to look after your loved one!
My mother was looked after at the Byway House Care Home for eleven years after entering the home with arthritis. A lot of the staff were consistent during this time and she considered them as fiends more than carers. She later progressed into dementia and was sometimes difficult but as a care home, they continued to care for needs. The home is small and friendly, close to the village centre and within walking distance of the beach. Being small, the home isn't able to offer the same level of facility as larger homes but Mother preferred the family atmosphere. My sister and I never had any second thoughts about the Byway.
Byway is a very well looked after home, with lovely decoration and a definite 'homely' feel. Mum was really comfortable in her lovely room, which was always kept very clean and tidy. The staff are a fantastic team and go above and beyond what their job would call for.
Mum was at Byway House for just over six years. During that time, the staff cared for her with respect and kindness. The staff were always welcoming, helpful and very supportive to both Mum and myself. The home is clean, well-maintained and always a pleasure to visit. I would recommend Byway House.
The staff at Byway House Care Home cared for our mother for just over three years. They are a remarkable team without exception. I know my mother was happy there and was treated with great kindness and respect. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone; an exceptional place run by exceptional people.
The staff were always helpful and very thoughtful, supporting us as well as Mum during her final days.
I am extremely happy. Mum has never wanted to live in a residential home, but unfortunately, earlier in the year she no longer felt safe at home and since coming to live at Byway House she is very happy and so much more relaxed than she has been for a long time. The staff at the care home are all very friendly and welcoming. The managers are especially nice. Nothing is too much for them. If they can do something for Mum and the wider family, they will.
An excellent care home with an outstanding performance.
So relieved to have found such an outstanding care home for my dad. The staff are very friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile. Management is excellent and very proactive - engaging family with care and support. The home itself is light and airy and feels very calm and homely. Dad is very happy with the food, and there are plenty of activities. It's such a weight off my mind to know dad is being looked after so well.
Byways is friendly, clean and seems well organised. The staff I have encountered all appear to get on very well with the residents. The residents I visit regularly seem happy and appear well cared for. I would recommend Byways to anyone.

I’ve worked in care for 18 years, caring for children, adults with learning disabilities, and the elderly.
I joined Byway House in 2016 as a night shift worker. Since joining, I’ve held several care positions, including head of care, deputy and now registered manager. I hold two NVQ qualifications, including a level 5 in leadership and management. I am committed to providing a high standard of care to all residents and their loved ones. At Byway House, we value all our staff members and encourage them to further their qualifications, knowledge, and skills to provide the highest level of care. We strive to be a home from home for our residents and care for them with love, dignity, and respect.

I joined the Byway team in 2014. I have over twenty years of experience in care, including management roles. I hold my level 5 NVQ in management and social care and am trained in many areas, including health and social care, safeguarding, dementia care, the Mental Capacity Act and the deprivation of liberties. I am passionate about the exceptional levels of care provided here at Byway. I strive to make sure we’re getting it right for all our residents, empowering our team and residents with our values of love, compassion and respect.

I have over 30 years’ service at Byway House, I left management to take on the role of Head of Care. I hold many qualifications including my NVQ level 3 in health and social care. I am the champion of nutrition and hydration which I am very passionate about and has earned me my nick name… Mrs Hydrator. I am also champion of medication and continence care.
There has been many changes over the years, but Byway House continues to flourish and remains an exceptional home with amazing management and staff.
