Byway House feels like a home from home. It's bright, airy and kept spotlessly clean. A peaceful environment with a lovely garden for residents and visitors to enjoy. The dedicated staff are helpful, friendly and happy - nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is freshly prepared and delicious. My father is into his third week in Byway House and has settled very happily, so much so I am completely confident he is int he very best place he could be under the circumstances.

My mother has been in this home for 7 months. The carers are amazing all of them. The home is extremely clean, nice food although sometimes I feel the teatime meal is slightly lacking, probably difficult as they have 16 people to cater for. Maybe more fish, salads, pizza etc.

The manager is extremely caring for her residents and very organised. They have a maintenance man, nothing is too much trouble. I am extremely happy that my mother is in Byway House.

This is my 2nd review of Byway House, and now my mother has been there over a year. All of my previous comments, which were all positive, still stand. The home is not a purpose built modern Care Home, but we have decided that 'small is beautiful' and I feel more and more confident that my mother is in safe hands. It is rare nowadays that I request a Dr's visit, for example, as they spot the need, take action and keep me informed. I visit nearly every day, and I am always greeted with a cheery smile and the offer of a cuppa. I sometimes find my mother chatting with one of the 'girls', reminiscing or going through photo albums, and she really enjoys their company. One of the girls once downloaded her favourite music onto her IPAD, which was extremely thoughtful. We cannot thank the staff enough and my mother frequently says how kind everyone is - but it is much more - they know her as an individual and now, after a trip out, my mother says that she is ready to 'go home'!

The staff at Byway House are always welcoming and the home is clean and well maintained. My mother has been a resident for just over a month. The staff have been kind and taken the time to listen and reassure her about her situation. She still has concerns about leaving her home, but with the help and guidance of the staff, she is beginning to look upon Byway House as her new home. My mother enjoys the social interaction at meal times, the food is excellent and she has put on a little weight. The social activities also give structure to her day. Overall, we are delighted to find such a caring home.

Overall Experience

The home is comfortable and welcoming always spotlessly clean with light and airy rooms. Food is of excellent quality catering for all tastes and diets. Staff have genuine interests in all residents, have time to listen to residents helping then to overcome their fears worries and problems. They show so much respect and consideration for their feelings, nothing is too much bother. The staff encourage residents to be as independent as possible but there is always a helping hand. Residents feel happy and secure.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident for a year during which time her health had deteriorated significantly but she is a lively minded 96 year old, discerning and very aware of modern life. The permanent staff are excellent and do their utmost to treat residents as individuals. They have accompanied my mother on several hospital and optician visits and strive hard to help with all medical matters. The standards of the home and garden are generally excellent. Our only complaints are that the radiator in her room does not work and the curtains could be thicker.

Staff are very friendly and very easy to approach and discuss any issues with. The house is always spotlessly clean and you are always made to feel welcome. They are always very attentive to my father and monitor him well and they are not afraid to cajole him if the need arises to ensure he maintains his health. I have tried to get short shrift but the staff have more success. The food is excellent and they cater for my father's personal requirements and always ask what he would like to eat. Any problems a Doctor is promptly called to ensure care is maintained.

I visit my friend in Byway House about twice a week. I find the carers live up to their title very well and with a sense of humour and fun. The food is excellent - the cakes are wonderful. During my visits I'm always made welcome and offered a drink and often cake. The rooms are pleasant and there's lots of areas in which to sit out on sunny days in their lovely garden.

Byway House care home is an exceptional care home. It is always clean and the accommodation for the residents is as it was their own homes. Bedrooms beautifully decorated all with en-suite facilities. The staff are caring yet extremely courteous. The food is very good and plenty of choice. The activities always seem varied and interesting. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
