Camowen

I just want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Camowen for looking after my grandmother so well. She passed a few days ago. The home is welcoming and friendly when you visit, bright and cheery and doesn't smell weird. Staff are happy and seem to really love their work and all through COVID they have had no cases amongst the clients, which shows they really look after the ladies and gentleman in there. There are lots of activities, but my grandmother preferred to stay in her room. At age 96 and very frail - and having a bad experienced at her previous care home - that was fine! She was rather deaf but the staff were firm with her and made her hear and understand, and got her to do things they knew she could do when she was feeling lazy. They read her bible verses from her bible verse a day calendar, as they knew this made her happy. They sneaked her extra breakfasts, and knew she liked sneaky toast in the afternoon! I totally recommend Camowen.

I would highly recommend Camowen to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one. I truly have nothing but praise for the way they are caring for my mum, who has been happy and contented there. Her room is bright and clean, and the staff (non-agency) are caring and friendly both to her and visitors; always taking time to stop and talk and help with any concerns, and the manager and deputy are equally hands-on too. The atmosphere is happy and uplifting, and care quality is second to none.

This home is the best. Since the last change of management, the home appears to have a much happier atmosphere and the staff appear more relaxed. Having said this my mother is deteriorating and the care she is receiving is of a very high standard. Any assessments that have been needed have all been followed through by the staff. They are all very aware of her needs which is why we want her to stay there as she becomes more frail. Would recommend this home for anyone.

Camowen offers high-quality care and staff are always cheerful and committed. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy and residents look clean and well cared for. If a resident requires a Doctor or District Nurse to visit the manager acts on it immediately. I would recommend Camowen to friends and family.

I could not ask for a better place for my mother to be.

My mother-in-law was taken into care at this care home four years ago and she will be 102 years young in January 2018. This is a truly magnificent care home.

I feel extremely lucky for my father to reside at Camowen Residential Home. My father enjoys joking and laughing with the staff and they treat him with dignity and respect. He feels very welcome and comfortable and the standard of cleanliness is excellent. I have always felt welcome and the staff very approachable and friendly.

Her room is clean, no bodily smells evident. I ring every few days between visits. The assistant manager always gives a detailed account of my cousin's health etc and on occasion has called her to the office to have a chat.

From the very beginning, I have found the staff and management to be very kind and attentive to my mother's needs. Although she tends to be a loner, they have gently encouraged her to join in the activities at the same time, respect her need for privacy and the food is served is excellent. As a visitor, I am always made to feel welcome and I am grateful for the peace of mind this establishment has given to me and my family.

In all we are extremely happy with the care and the love that is given to mum and have no worries about her being in Camowen.

My mother has been a resident at Camowen for three and a half years. The staff are welcoming and have made mum feel settled, safe and happy. All of the staff are friendly and approachable. Mum is always treated with respect and dignity. The activities are varied and she is always encouraged to participate.

My mother has been at the Camowen for a few years now and I can only praise all the staff for their care and patience for her day to day wellbeing. The home is very nicely decorated and always very inviting. If my mother has been out, upon her return she says she is home, which makes the family feel very reassured and happy.
