Heathfield (Horsham) Ltd offers a relaxing homely residential environment for older adults with care needs, available for permanent and respite stays. Well located for nearby amenities such as the Town and Horsham Park, their aim is to provide a safe, comfortable home where friends and family are always welcome and where residents are able to remain fully independent.

The home has a lounge for socialising, together with an air-conditioned conservatory with an activities area for daily arts and crafts or organised events. A walled garden with pleasant seating areas, while modern care equipment such as assisted bathing facilities also adds to customer satisfaction.

Regular outings and entertainment are organised as part of the service, with an active lifestyle crucial to the home's long-term aims.

A full laundry service is provided without extra charge and a newspaper delivery service exists for residents who wish to buy newspapers or magazines. Services such as chiropody and hairdressing are available on a regular basis on the premises. Shopping is carried out on a monthly basis for residents should they require it.

An additional feature is short-stay rooms for those requiring full board and care for a short period only. This would benefit persons currently cared for in their own home, requiring a short break or considering moving to a home, but want a trial visit.

My Godmother was a resident for 18+ months in another care home in Horsham. Initially it suited her needs. The reputation of Heathfield is excellent and since moving her in we have not been disappointed. Particular to note the food provided, with choice, is very good. We are more than pleased with the
interaction of the lovely staff!
Reply from Sharon Hamilton, General Manager at Heathfield (Horsham) Ltd

My mother moved in a few months ago at 90, and she feels very positive about being at Heathfield. The staff are kind and caring, always on hand to assist her, and it is a friendly environment. There are trips out and low key activities to take part in. Her room overlooks the garden and she really enjoys
listening to the birds. Her room is fairly small but we were able to take in personal furniture to make it feel like hers. She particularly enjoys the food and film club, and just sitting in the garden. Visitors are welcome at any time, it feels like a community.

Thank you very much for the lovely feedback, we are so glad to have your mother with us at Heathfield and that she enjoys living here. We aim to make sure that each and everyone is made to feel welcome in our homely environment. As a not-for-profit organisation our activities and trips out are paid for through fundraising and donations by staff and through the generosity of others and we pride ourselves on offering a homely environment for our wonderful Residents, their friends and their families.

My mother was admitted to hospital on 3 occasions December - January '25. The staff were exemplary, reactive to her care and alerted the emergency services with no hesitation.
The staff are sensitive and responsive to her needs. She is very happy in her surroundings. Activities are resident led with
additional people coming to the home to entertain.
It truly is a delightful care home - one which radiates real care and understanding of the residents.
Reply from Sharon Hamilton, General Manager at Heathfield (Horsham) Ltd

Thank you for your kind feedback which I will certainly share with the Staff. As a not-for-profit home we pride ourselves in the care that is delivered and the activity opportunities that are presented to Residents and that everyone, including friends and families are made to feel welcome and at home here.

Mum moved in here a few months ago and our experience has been very positive. Staff are kind and helpful, also low turnover which is important. Room is small but has everything Mum needs. Food generally good and there is an option of eating in room if required.
Building is older than some so has limitations
like narrow corridors and older bathrooms but nothing that detracts from care.
Overall very happy and feel Mum is in a safe environment.

My mother has said every time I have visited how kind everyone is. She has felt very safe and well looked after. I have found all the staff to be very welcoming every time I have been to Heathfield and they have shown how caring they are by wasting no time in calling the GP when they were concerned
about her.

Mostly a good atmosphere if a trifle rushed, always hurried. I do appreciate carers have a lot to get through, so time is important. One staff member is particularly good, also the lounge and sun room are quite tastefully done and welcoming. I'm 93 now and feel quite safe.

My mother-in-law has been at Heathfield for 18 months, moving in from her own home at the age of 95. Such a big change for her but the staff and mainly the management were outstanding. Their patience in helping her each day to feel at home and comfortable in her new surroundings made things for her
and us so much easier. With regret, all parties feel now is the time for Mum to go into a nursing home. This will be a very sad day for her, also my husband and I but we cannot thank the home enough for all they have done for her and we would highly recommend Heathfield to any family who needs support with their loved ones.

My mother has been admitted for two weeks of respite care with a view to permanent residency. She has been assessed by Heathfield during this time and has settled in surprisingly well. We are very impressed by the care and consideration provided by all the staff and very much hope she will be able to
stay as long as possible.

I have no complaints at all, as all of the staff are most helpful. The food is very good. I like to ask for small portions as I don't like to leave any food at all. I love to walk in the fresh air a few times a day - weather permitting.

Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff. They are kind and caring.
It's a home-from-home with only 35 residents.
My mum is very happy and settled quickly. And as Heathfield is a charitable trust it's good value and the money goes into caring for its residents.
We could not recommend more highly.

Our father always spoke so highly of all the colleagues, from the management team, carers, and catering colleagues. I would agree wholeheartedly, our father was looked after in a very caring, but unassuming way, as we were when we visited him, nothing was too much trouble.

Convenient access times. Staff are available to ask questions about the care of my mother. Food and hygiene are good.
All staff very friendly and helpful when needed.
Only point of dissatisfaction is that clothes we have brought in I have had to sew names into, but I was repeatedly advised that there
should be tags for clothing for each resident's room.

My brother has been a resident in Heathfield for over a year now, after suffering a stroke. He has nothing but praise for the care he has received right from the beginning. He tells me that the staff are very caring and that the chef always produces excellent meals. The staff are welcoming when we visit
and the home feels friendly and beautifully kept. Communication is good and I am always kept well informed about my brother's health. I would definitely recommend this care home. It is well run and it is reassuring to know that it is run on a not-for-profit basis, with excellent management.

Heathfield is quite a small care home and therefore the staff know the residents well. The staff are friendly and very caring and always happy to spend time with the residents and chat. They are quick to spot any health issues and act upon them. The food is of good quality and menus vary with a good
choice of meals each day. The standard of cleanliness is high and there always seems to be a cleaner working throughout the day. Activities are arranged on weekdays varying from musicians from outside, films, crafts, chair exercises etc. Residents always appear well looked after and well dressed.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.262)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.262) out of 10 for Heathfield (Horsham) Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.590 for Heathfield (Horsham) Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.59
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.672 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heathfield (Horsham) Ltd is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.2 = 0.972
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
