Visiting

  • Tenby House warmly welcomes visits from family and friends, as they play a vital role in the well-being of the residents. To ensure a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment for everyone, Tenby kindly ask visitors to follow the guidelines below:

    Visiting Hours
The home is open for visitors daily between 9:00am and 8:00pm. Tenby encourages visits during these times to allow residents to maintain a calm and consistent routine.

    Protected Mealtimes
To support Tenby's residents' nutrition, dignity, and concentration during meals, the home observes protected mealtimes as follows:

    Breakfast: 8:00am – 9:00am

    Lunch: 12:30pm – 1:30pm

    Supper: 5:00pm – 6:00pm

During these periods, Tenby kindly asks that visits are avoided unless previously arranged or if a visitor is supporting their loved one with eating. This quiet time allows residents to focus on their meals without interruption and helps staff provide essential support.

    Booking a Visit
While not always required, Tenby recommends booking visits in advance during busier times to ensure privacy and availability of communal areas.

    Health and Safety
Tenby asks that visits be postponed if visitors feel unwell or have been in contact with someone who is unwell. This helps Tenby protect the health of all residents.

My Dad was so sad after my mum passed away earlier this year. He missed her greatly. The staff were wonderful. So kind. He went into end-of-life care and sadly passed away last month. The staff kept me informed and looked after Dad so well right to the end.

My Father has been in Tenby House since December 2023. After a period of adjustment and settling in, he is now very settled and happy here. All staff that both he and us as a family encounter show compassion, care and a high level of dedication to their work and this is reflected in my father's contentment.
My father particularly enjoys the activities and trips out, especially to the beach for ice cream, the pub for fish and chips or to a garden centre for coffee and cake. He looks forward to these outings and enjoys telling me all about them. I am kept well informed and if I need to raise any issues/concerns or suggestions then these are always listened to and addressed if needed.

I am always greeted at the door and directed to where my friend is. No sooner have I arrived at her side, a chair is provided for me to rest my weary legs! Her room is at the end of several long corridors and these are always spotless. The rooms with open doors are always tidy. The lounges are organised
and spotless too. I cannot fault the staff. Their dedication to elderly together with their gentleness and compassion is humbling to watch. Not an easy task with many residents all with varying needs but this is always managed calmly and with unlimited patience. I am often visiting over lunchtime and the quality and presentation of food is very good and I witness residents eating with much enjoyment, especially my friend. Any questions or concerns I have had have always been answered without delay. At the end of my visits I can confidently walk away knowing my friend is in the best possible place to suit her needs.

Tenby House looked after my dad for nearly two years until he peacefully passed away. He was very happy there and I know the staff all loved having him around. It was a huge weight off my mind to know he was safe and well cared for in these difficult times. I would recommend the home as a reasonably
priced efficiently run and caring place.

All the staff based at Tenby looked after Mum with care, dignity and treated her as one of their own family. We know that Mum was in the best place possible, and we, as a family, cannot thank them enough.

My father had excellent care during his time at Tenby and became very poorly and was on palliative care and then end of life care. He was well looked after by the team at Tenby, St Barnards and Echo nurses. The managers and staff listened to our requests and put everything in place to make Dad more
comfortable and pain-free. As a family, we were supported and allowed to spend time with Dad.

Mum needed to go for respite care after being admitted to the hospital for three and a half weeks. Tenby House was very kind and caring to Mum when she was being very difficult. Whenever we phone for information, staff were always professional and friendly towards us.

This is my father's 3rd care home in the past 3 years and I can honestly say it's the first time since entering the care service that his needs and well being have and continue to be met which in turn offers me peace of mind and confidence dad is well looked after. Personal centred care has revived
Dad's memory and he has far more good days now than bad. He can now recognise me when he sees me and always appears happy!
I cannot thank the management enough for their continued communication and ensuring I am up to date with all dad's needs and health concerns. The care staff are friendly and dad enjoys their company.

Needed to find a dementia home rather rapidly last September and were very pleased that you could assist with our needs. We haven't been disappointed with the overall care of my mother and she certainly seems happy, even though we had a hiccup over the Christmas period with my Mum, the home dealt with
it well and we were not disappointed.

My mother-in-law is a service user. Every time I visit all the staff are helpful and she seems as happy as she can be, which relays any anxiety about her care and safety.

I wish to thank Tenby House and its staff for the wonderful, very caring care given to my Mother in the last 6 months of her life. As my sister and I live abroad, we were unable to visit but telephoned regularly and the staff were always polite and willing to give, in detail, updates or hold the telephone
to Mum’s ear so we could talk to her. I know how pleased my father was leaving Mum in such a caring, kind home. Thanks again to the staff. We would certainly recommend Tenby House.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.057)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.057) out of 10 for Tenby House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.776 for Tenby House is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.776

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.281 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tenby House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.781

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
