Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 out of 10 for Dove Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up of Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews in the last 24 months. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.517 for Dove Court is calculated as follows: ( (30 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.517

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 3.829 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dove Court is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.329

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months. then it will not have a Review Score.

8.3 Dove Court has a Review Score of 8.3 (8.346) out of 10 based on reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time Dove Court has 18 reviews with an Average Rating of 4.3 out of 5.

All the staff are brilliant and treat Mum with dignity and respect.
I am kept updated with concerns they may have from time to time, by phone calls e mails or at visits if less important.
I am made to feel assured that she is well looked after.
Mum was offered a different room some time ago, which
she accepted and loves.
I would recommend Dove Court, Wisbech.

My Mother has been in Dove Court Car Home, Jasmine Suit for nearly 5 years after the sudden death of her loving husband.
The day she moved into Dove Court she was welcomed with open arms and made very comfortable into her new home.
Nothing is too much trouble from all the staff. If, on any day there
is nothing she likes on the menu, the staff will bend over backwards to please her for what she would like. (Normally a Salad).
The Care home have numerous activities going one during the week and they will involve all the residents.

Moving to Dove Court and settling in – September 2018:
Mum moved into Dove Court in September 2018. At 87, this was a huge decision for her to move from independent living into a care home setting. She was looking for somewhere that she felt was ‘homely and friendly, with activities that she could
join in’. She visited Dove Court and immediately said she felt she could be happy there. Mum has very high needs, she was diagnosed with moderate Alzheimer’s and has vascular necrosis which causes very limited mobility.
There was some settling in needed when Mum first moved in, but this was mainly due to getting to know Mum and her likes and dislikes, but she was always made to feel very welcome. The home made a special effort to help her to settle by introducing her to the residents and personally asking her to join in the activities. We noticed on a number of occasions that carers were taking the time to talk to her if she seemed to be on her own.
Dove Court Staff and Management:
The quality of the care staff at Dove Court is of a very high standard. Turnover appears to be quite low which is essential for providing continuity of care to the elderly residents, the majority of which have memory issues.
The carers are kind and caring and treat Mum with dignity and respect at all times, encouraging independence when possible and there seems to be a genuine thoughtfulness and compassion. I have witnessed carers taking time to offer reassurance. They are also able to answer/find someone to
answer any queries that I may have. There is a good management structure in place to cover the two main areas – ‘management of the residents care’ and ‘running of the care home’ and both are of a very high standards. They are very aware of their roles and responsibilities and deal with all issues professionally, confidentially and promptly, both are very friendly and extremely approachable and nothing is too much trouble.
Activities at Dove Court:
The care home are fortunate to have an Activities Co-ordinator and an Assistant, which has a massive impact on the wellbeing of the residents. They provide daily activities relevant to the needs of the residents eg games, seated exercises, bingo, quizzes, nostalgia sessions, arts and crafts as well as one to one pampering sessions. A special effort is made on residents' birthdays with the popular karaoke which is a ‘residents' favourite’ as they get to choose the genre of music – I have seen residents and carers laughing and dancing together as well as having a hearty sing-a-long.
Regular visitors to the home including: Church groups, local school children, ‘show and tell’ and live music. There are occasional trips to the cinema, garden centres, etc. Obviously, spaces are limited as to how many residents can attend each trip, but there is a genuine awareness to be all inclusive and invitations are rotated to ensure all residents are offered the same opportunities.
Dove Court Care Home Setting – June 2019:
The care home itself is currently going through a major refurbishment. It was looking a bit ‘tired’ when Mum moved in (2018), but they have undertaken a major painting scheme throughout, updating of bathrooms and changing windows. The furniture is comfortable in the main areas and residents can furnish their own rooms.
From what I have experienced of the menu, meals appear to be nutritious and varied. Residents are encouraged to eat meals together in the
dining room, although they can choose to eat meals in their own room etc. Drinks jugs are left in rooms and drinks/snacks are offered at regular intervals – but they can also request food/ drink at any time.
Residents and family members are encouraged to be involved through open and informal discussions at regular ‘Residents and Relatives Meetings’ and are encouraged to speak about any points they would like to raise.
I am confident that mum is safe, well looked after and most
of all happy.

Since 2013 I have found the care home manager approachable and willing to listen and deal with any concerns I may have had efficiently. As for past and present careers I also have found them approachable, helpful, willing to listen and cheerful. They also keep me updated with any concerns they may have
and they listen to any I may have and they deal with things promptly.
Housekeeping staff are also approachable and deal with anything I am not happy with in the best way they can.
The home itself just needs redecorating and some of the furniture is looking tired and needs replacing. Apart from that its good, gardens could do with some more colourful planting to help it look more homely. Overall I am pleased with the way my mum has been looked after over the past four years and I am sure the rest of my family agrees.

My Grandmother and now, late Grandfather have been at Dove Court for nearly a year now. I am always impressed with the staff and how they treat my Grandmother with utmost respect and friendliness.
The Manager has been excellent at ensuring my Grandma is happy - even moving her into a new room to gain
a better outlook from her window.
Activities happen regularly including quizzes, sing alongs and even using ipads and residents are encouraged to join in if they are happy to do so.
We can always get in contact when necessary with the home to ensure everything is going well.
Thank you to all staff and Management concerned.

Both my parents went to Dove Court in Sept 2016 and I was very impressed and obviously happy to see the high standard of care they were given. When Dad passed away in Feb 2017, the love, thought and care given to mum by the manager and all the carers was second to none. Whenever I visit mum I am always
greeted with a smile and an update on Mum's welfare. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are always very busy, but they make the time to deal with any issues that arise; in fact, I would say they are all excellent at prioritising! I have to travel quite a distance to see mum but I am always confident that she is safe and extremely well cared for.

I have been visiting my mum and dad when he was alive, for almost a year now and whilst most of the carers are lovely there are a few issues that need to be addressed. There are hardly any activities for the residents and these people need stimulation and whilst there are hardly anything for the residents,
they live for their televisions which a lot of the time signal is so poor, they have nothing to do and they just sit there which is terrible for them. Perhaps the owners could put their hands in their pockets and get a decent ariel for the home. Perhaps a satellite dish would be a good idea. Mum is not showered or bathed regularly. I have made comments before but to no avail. Do something!

We always find a warm and friendly greeting when entering Dove Court. Quite often there will be one or two residents walking around in my husband's floor who are kindly treated by staff.
The effort put in by staff on an entertainment level for residents and families is to be admired. My husband's room
and bathroom are kept very clean. Above all, my husband recently had a fall which was dealt with carefully and professionally in a very calm manner.

My mum has been in Dove Court for 6 months. In that time, she has been given all the care she needs and more.
They have dealt with numerous hurdles and have successfully managed them all. We had a few problems to start with, but due to guilt on our part, for my mum having to go in the home. Dove Court
has definitely done more than we ever could have done ourselves.

The staff are very friendly and they appear to care for their patriots as well. The activities for raising money for the residents is very good. The food always looks good but sometimes a little sparse as my mum eats very well. If there is a problem, usually it is all sorted out. The gardens are lovely
and well cared for, it appears to be a happy home.

Mum having to go into care was a very sad time, but all our fears were soon allayed not long after she became a resident in Dove Court Wisbech.
The staff are caring and understanding, especially as mum is now bedridden.
Food and facilities are excellent. Any health issues are acted upon when most
needed. Management are very approachable.
Overall I'm more than happy with mums care at Dove Court.

Dove Court is a welcoming care home which is extremely friendly and professionally managed. The home was starting to undergo redecoration which really freshened up the decor. My relative thoroughly enjoyed her time at the home and particularly commented on the "lovely staff" who cared for her. They
always make time to ensure the home is as inviting as possible whether this is for the service users or visitors. The care quality is high with a high proportion staff being very experienced having been in their jobs for many years. We only wish my relative had been able to spend more time at this home.

My dear Dad moved in the day before his 93rd birthday and had a family party on his birthday and another one with the residents the next day. He was made to feel very welcome. He said that he couldn't have been in a better home and told all the family this. He was able to choose his own room and felt
really happy with it, having some of his own furniture and memorabilia around him. Unfortunately, he was not with them very long and passed away on 27th September in hospital. I can say that he asked me to take him back to the home as he was missing out on the world and wanted to be joining in with everything going on. When he was taken ill, the home responded very quickly and did all they could to ensure he had the best care.
The staff were always friendly and smiling and nothing was too much trouble for them, they were patient and kind to everyone. it was a happy place.
One day I may need to go in a home and I would certainly be happy in Dove Court.
