Keneydon House is a Residential Dementia care home situated in Whittlesey within walking distance of the town centre. In a homely setting, carers provide personalised care, attention and stimulation to people of 65 years or more who due to dementia are no longer able to cope on their own. Each resident is treated as an individual and staff encourage as full and active a lifestyle as possible.

The home has a heritage of over twenty years and is registered for twenty-one residents. A smaller size means that residents benefit from an exceptionally high level of personalised care, provided by skilled, friendly staff. The care provided is built around residents' strengths and constantly seeks to improve their quality of life.

In addition to the comfort and security of 24-hour care, residents are encouraged to enjoy regular activities, outings and entertainment and can celebrate traditional festivities as they would in their own homes. As such visitors are welcome at any time.

I can't praise the staff enough at Keneydon House. So friendly & kind. My dad, suffering from Dementia & Alzheimer's went in for a weeks respite care, a shell of his former self. I am astounded how with their experience & caring nature he settled in so well, chatting, engaging, joining in the activities.
It gave him a new lease of life. This home has a heart & soul, so important for our loved ones & peace of mind for the family too.

Mum moved to Keneydon House last April and although this was an anxious time for all concerned, we are pleased to say that the experience has been very positive!

Whenever we visit Mum, the staff are friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble and a hot drink is always offered. Mum is well cared

for and always says 'how nice her room is, how amazing the staff are, that the food is fantastic and there is plenty of it!'

The Team are very professional, caring and compassionate. They always give us feedback on how Mum is, ensure Mum takes her medication correctly and let us know if they have any concerns.

The home is always clean, fresh and the residents seem very happy! Not an easy job and 5 Stars to the Management and Staff!

We would highly recommend Keneydon House and the care provided!

Pleasant visit to see mum. All the staff were very attentive to the residents and also us visitors. The property was clean and tidy, as were the facilities. My mother appeared happy and content and even joked with the staff. I had to speak to a member of staff and she was very helpful and open in
relation to the care my mother has been receiving.

Every time I visit I am met by friendly staff. They appear very involved with all of the residents and work as a team.
The manager Terrie keeps the family updated with the welfare of my loved one and also informs me of any activities taking place.

Amazing staff Terri and the team are wonderful. It's like home from home for my mother-in-law. Nothing is too much trouble food great and they care. Hairdresser chiropodist and nail technician goes in on a regular basis. Never have to worry about toiletries etc it's all looked after by the team. The
cook and also the lady that does all the laundry are brilliant. Mum always looks so clean and bedding changed regular. We are invited for lunch and always offered a hot drink when we visit. Terri keeps me up to date with everything regarding her health.
Cannot thank all the team enough cannot even explain how happy we are. We are so lucky to have her here thank you keneydon house.
All individuals needs are met and it shows all the residents are happy

It has been such a comfort to me seeing my Dad so settled and well cared for. The staff are fantastic, so patient and caring with all the residents. I am welcome at any time, and always find my Dad's needs are fully met. The quality of meals is outstanding! No matter how busy the staff are they will
always make time for any queries. Everyone does their best to ensure the environment is comfortable and safe, and I am so pleased to see genuine caring people gaining satisfaction from their profession.

I am incredibly grateful for the exceptional care and support given by Keneydon House. The staff are highly and professionally compassionate, treating each resident with respect and dignity. My wife thrived there, she made new friends and enjoyed a quality of life we hoped for, she often said that
she liked it there, and it was happy and peaceful. Communication with the staff was very pleasant, and were always available to answer any concerns. I must also mention, the managerial team, who also treated me with care and compassion, and I will be forever grateful to them. I would recommend Keneydon House to anyone looking for a safe and supportive home.

I can only visit my sister every 4-6 weeks but I find management are very good and staff seem friendly too.
I have been concerned about items going missing in the past.
I do think also that a female should help my sister to wash and dress rather than a male but I guess that is necessary.

I feel it very necessary to address issues regarding the staff at Keneydon House. Two staff members have been extremely rude to me personally. Generally it has become obvious that the majority of staff (not all) their hate their jobs. I also believe that foreign workers are treated poorly. This is very
worrying to me as both of my parents are residents. I am also aware that some residents are left for hours with no stimulation or interaction. There has been incidents where I have visited and my parents are wearing filthy clothes. I arrived on Christmas morning, my parents room smelled horrific, the commode was full to the brim and had obviously not been emptied recently. The smell was of ammonia was so strong I couldn't tolerate it for more than a few minutes. I actually dread visiting the home and am extremely anxious every time I do. This is completely unacceptable to me but when I've questioned particularly things I've always been given a brush off answers.

I would like to thank all the care staff for looking after my uncle so well whilst he stayed at Keneydon House. He was in for 2 weeks respite to get him back on track with his nutritional intake and taking his medication correctly. Everyone was extremely kind and understanding of my uncle’s memory problems
as he has vascular dementia. I had regular updates on his well-being during his stay and nothing was too much trouble to meet his needs. Keneydon House would be the first place I would contact if my uncle needed respite again, knowing he would be safe and well cared for.

I have known this care home for some years. One of my parents was a resident some years ago. From my experience of visiting Keneydon House, I have certainly seen many positive changes. Since the current manager took over changes are now being implemented in a very positive way. The staff seem very happy
in their work and interacting with the residents in a way that is improving the outlook for all.

My mother was admitted to this care home November 2020 - until she passed away June 2021. The staff from management all the way down are absolutely first class, the care, compassion, fondness detail to work they all showed was brilliant even down to the guard of honour they formed when my mother's body
was taken away. The only reason I have given some low marks is because the place itself needed some TLC although I have been shown pictures that re-dec has been done so that's brilliant news. My sister has become firm friends with staff that says it all.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.498)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.498) out of 10 for Keneydon House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.648 for Keneydon House is calculated as follows: ( (131 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 165 Ratings = 4.648
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Keneydon House is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
