Glendon House is a well-established dementia care home which boasts 33 beautiful bedrooms steeped in period charm with all the character and atmosphere of a family home.

The home benefits from a range of different communal spaces including a large conservatory, main lounge, dining room, games room/pub and extensive landscaped gardens and courtyard that combine comfort and accessibility with resident safety and security.

The real charm of Glendon house is the exceptional care that the dedicated and compassionate staff deliver to their residents. Living well is the real focus of the team with a real desire to deliver compassionate, highly dignified and respectful care that is planned in partnership with the resident and their loved ones.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My review covers from 28/08/2018 to date. My advice to a friend concerning their relative would depend on the mental condition of the relative. I must stress that Glendon House is more for dementia than residential.
To me, residents with violent tendencies should not be allowed to wander freely and
distress others.
Carers, when asked for help in this respect, reply there is nothing they can do. For residents like these, surely a separate unit is required. One resident, despite treatment, remained the same, threatening me with clawed hands and to avoid him, I have all my meals in my room.
Management pleasant and approachable, tackles and does her best to solve problems quickly. Staff kind, friendly and caring. I myself, exceptionally, am fairly mentally alert and mildly active, if in health, need help with washing, bathing, hair wash etc.
Cannot genuinely comment on activities, avoiding depression, seek social life elsewhere. In bed with a bout of illness lately. Staff absolutely marvellous. Immediate attention from especially night staff. I am happy here.

We are pleased that you have chosen to live at Glendon House, but it is a designated dementia home. Our priority is to maintain the facilities in the most appropriate way for our residents, who with the exception of yourself, are all living with dementia.
The home’s spaciousness allows residents to wander from one communal area to the next in a safe environment and staff are trained to deal with behaviours caused by this illness.
We do hope that your health improves and you may be tempted to partake in the many exciting activities planned through the Summer. We are delighted to hear such positive comments about the Staff and our Manager.
