My mother had been a resident at Hill Barn for very nearly 5 years prior to her recent death. Being a small sized care home I have found it to be a a very friendly and caring environment. Over a period as long as this there have of course been periods where the staff have come and gone more often
than I would have liked but unfortunately that is the nature of the business. Through thought there has been a nucleus of staff who have remained constant and always done their very best for my mother. In the final weeks of my mother's life I was genuinely moved by the way by the way the staff cared for her and kept me informed of developments.
Reply from Ania George, Director at Hill Barn Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience with Hill Barn.
We are very sorry for your loss and send our sincere condolences to you and your family. It was a privilege to care for your mother over such a long period of time.
We really appreciate your kind words about the home and our team. While staffing can be a challenge across the sector, we are proud that Hill Barn maintains a stable team, and we are pleased this continuity was reflected in the consistent care your mother received.
Your comments about her final weeks are particularly meaningful to us. Supporting residents and their families with dignity, compassion and clear communication at such an important time is something we take great pride in, and we will ensure your feedback is shared with the team.
Thank you again for your thoughtful words.

Our father spent around a year at Hill Barn. From day one, I had a good feeling. The manager was very welcoming and professional. All the staff involved came across very caring and performed their duties well. I felt dad was taken care of very well, and I never felt any concerns for my dad. The home
itself had a nice feel to it, being converted barns, etc., and the grounds were well kept and a nice place to sit. Thank you to all the management and staff!
Reply from Ania George, Director at Hill Barn Care HomeWe are so pleased to hear that you felt confident and reassured in your dads care from the very beginning. It means a great deal to the team to know that their care, professionalism, and dedication made a positive difference during his time with us.

Were also glad you enjoyed the surroundings and peaceful grounds we always hope the home provides comfort for both residents and their families. Thank you again for your trust and your thoughtful words; they mean a lot to everyone at Hill Barn.

My dear dad had been at Hillbarn for over a year before his passing. From the first day he arrived ALL staff members gave him and us a caring welcome. Their day to day care and attention was more than excellent. There were difficult times when my dad was having bad days and staff always made sure they
did their utmost to make him feel better and sometimes used humour to try and cheer him up which certainly helped. I will be forever grateful knowing that when I went home I didn't have to worry about him. I was always honestly kept informed and when I was having a sad day a hug and a chat went a long way. Nothing was too much trouble, even the not so nice jobs were done in a dignified way. The care he received was undoubtedly top class and I can't thank them enough. What special people you all are x

It has been a pleasure to meet all the staff which welcomed me and looked after my Mum so well.I would recommend
this care home , this is the most clean and tidy care home , and a lovely garden to watch the birds from mums room .

Following a recommendation from a close friend, we were lucky enough to obtain a place at Hill Barn Care Home for my mum. Whenever we visited, she was always clean and well dressed, likewise, her room was always clean and tidy. All the staff were chatty and friendly and took time to talk to us. Often
telling us funny stories of what mum had been up to, if they had any concerns about mum, they would phone and let me know the problem and how they planned to deal with it. It was so nice to know she was always well cared for by such kind people.

My first visit to the care home was when I helped settle my grandmother in. We were welcomed with open arms by the management team (Rachel & Callum both) as well as the head carer (Tina). The home has a very friendly atmosphere with all the staff who couldn't be more helpful and respectful to my GM
need.
My first impression was very good and I knew that we were leaving my GM in safe hands.
I visit the home weekly and my impression has not changed. I'm welcomed by name, my GM settled in straight away (no anxiety) which was also positive. You can have an open and honest conversation with the management team and the staff have always got a smile on there faces. You can tell that everyone is looked after, the home really does care about the people living there, staff are very patient, friendly, attentive, professional. The facilities are clean and my GM is well looked after (clean, tidy, well groomed ect).
I'm so glad that my mother was recommended Hill Barn. Keep up the good work!

As a family we were concerned about having to look at mum going into a care home. The team at Hill Barn have been fantastic at every step of mum's journey so far. We were all surprised at how mum settled in but I think the caring nature of all the staff and the homely feel has really helped.

My friend Isobel had a difficult illness that made it hard for her to communicate and restricted her mobility. Isobel had requested a room at Hill Barn before her illness became debilitating, and she was very grateful that a room was found for her when she could no longer manage by herself. The room
was able to accommodate some furnishings from Isobel's home, including lots of pictures that were put on the walls. making the room feel homely and familiar.

The calm atmosphere at Hill Barn made Isobel feel safe and comfortable. All the staff were attentive and treated her with respect and compassion. This allowed Isobel to maintain her dignity and enjoy the company of others when she wished, or to enjoy privacy when she preferred.

I felt that the team at Hill Barn were very fond of Isobel and did everything they could to improve her quality of life. It is a great comfort to know that such caring people were with her when friends and family couldn't be there.

Thank you.

Jane

We are honoured that Isobel was able to come to Hill Barn Care Home at a time when she needed support most. It means a great deal to us that her room could be made to feel familiar and homely, and that this helped her feel safe and comfortable during such a difficult period.

Your words about the calm atmosphere, dignity, compassion, and respect shown by our team will be very meaningful to the staff who cared for Isobel. They genuinely strive to support each person as an individual-offering companionship when wanted and privacy when preferred-and it is reassuring to know this was felt so clearly.

Thank you for trusting us with Isobel's care. Knowing that her friends and family felt comforted by the care she received is something we value deeply.

My mother, who suffers from Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, moved into Hill Barn in January 2025. I cannot speak highly enough of the standard of care she receives. Without exception, the fantastic staff are deeply caring and have helped Mum settle in and give myself and my brothers complete peace
of mind. The home's location is idyllic. It is also relatively small, which means we know Mum is receiving one-on-one care. The atmosphere is always warm and caring. There is nowhere else I would want my mother to be.

My father received fantastic care at Hill Barn. All the staff were very kind and caring and he was well looked after. He had a very big appetite and loved eating and they made sure he had all the food he wanted, sometimes having a whole second dinner. He was so happy there and they made sure he was
comfortable. I found all the staff to be very friendly, engaged and helpful, which was very reassuring and meant I didn't need to worry about him. A very big thank you to all the staff for making him feel at home and happy. You're doing a fantastic job!

My father-in-law has been a resident since May and has been well looked after by the manager and staff at Hillbarn. He keeps himself to himself and mainly in his room, but has enjoyed watching the work that has been happening to renovate the old pond in the courtyard. As he previously built and looked
after his own pond he is knowledgeable about keeping fish in a good environment. The pond redevelopment at Hillbarn has drawn him out of his room, gives him a little focus and something new to show and share with us when we visit. The team should be praised for ensuring this small benefit to the residents has remained, rather than simply be filled in (as it could have been). We look forward to seeing further improvements at Hillbarn over time.

My mother spent the last few months of her life at Hill Barn Care Home during which time she received impeccable care and attention from all of the staff. Having lived on her own for the last nine years I was concerned that the transition, albeit necessary, was always going to be difficult. Yet it proved
to be a seamless move accomplished through the kindness and understanding displayed by all concerned. The staff swiftly established her needs and treated her with tremendous dignity and compassion in what was to become for her a safe and comfortable home. The staff were clearly well organised and demonstrated they were proficient in performing their duties. I felt confident that the treatment that my mother received was of great comfort to her.

My husband went into respite, Hill Barn last October whilst l was in hospital and in recovery afterwards, he stayed approximately 4 weeks.
He was very anti-going into the home but he loved it, so much so he did not want to come home.
The staff were very attentive, he had a nice clean room, he enjoyed
the food and the staff were always popping into his room to see if he was ok as he stayed in his room all the time (his choice).

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
