Manson House is a residential care home located within a Grade II listed building on Northgate Street in Bury St Edmunds. The home is a distinctive property, featuring period architecture, beautifully maintained gardens and a summer house enjoyed by residents throughout the year.
Situated just a four minute walk from the town centre, Manson House enables residents to remain connected to everyday life, with easy access to familiar shops, cafés, theatres and banks. Families visiting the home often combine their visit with time spent in the town. A dentist is located next door, with a GP surgery and pharmacy also close by.
The gardens are one of the home’s most valued features, offering a peaceful outdoor space with little sense of the busy town centre nearby. Several suites open directly onto the gardens, giving residents convenient and private access to the outdoors.
Manson House offers 32 en suite bedrooms, including newly refurbished suites with private lounges, allowing residents to enjoy both independence and support when needed. Bedrooms can be personalised, while the communal lounges, dining room, hair salon, gardens and summer house provide welcoming spaces for socialising and relaxation.
Meals are freshly prepared by the home’s chef, with all dietary needs and preferences catered for. A dedicated activities team delivers a varied weekly programme, including art sessions, exercise classes, mobile library visits, talks, board games and one to one pamper and hairdressing sessions, helping residents continue enjoying the activities and routines that matter to them.
In the 2026 relatives survey, 100% of respondents said they would recommend Manson House to others, with all respondents also confirming that their relative feels safe and that they have confidence in the team.

My Mother had been very proud of being able to be in her own home in her nineties but was beginning to find independent living a struggle. She moved somewhat reluctantly to Manson House in September. It was a huge change for her and took a few months to adjust but is now settled. This transition would not have been possible without the care, empathy and support of all the staff at Manson House. She is lucky enough to have a room with a small private sitting room overlooking the gardens and has been able to bring her own furniture and pictures, as much a home from home as possible. When we visited Manson House for the first time, it really stood out from other residential care homes that we had seen, making a difficult and emotional decision easier. As a visitor, you are always made to feel welcome which provides a sense of security that my Mother is in safe hands.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a warm and positive review. Your comments mean a great deal to us and we will be sure to share them with the whole team. Best wishes.

We recently arranged for my father to move into Manson House after a short spell in hospital and at a time where he could no longer live independently. Having researched the care options available to us in, and around Bury St Edmunds, Manson House was the stand out choice. The standard of accommodation is excellent and very comfortable whilst the staff are caring, kind and professional. They are truly an amazing team and nothing is too much trouble. Everyone has been so kind and made my father feel so at home which, as a family, is more than we could have hoped for so we thank them everyday.
A huge thank you for taking the time to leave us such a warm and positive review. We really appreciate your comments and will be sure to share them with the team. Best wishes.

Spending the last ten months at Manson House has given the resident a new lease of life. There is social interaction for those that want to interact with fellow residents and the activity team alike. A stunning garden allows residents to sit in peace or wander around when the weather allows. Joined...
All the staff are professional, compassionate, caring, approachable and efficient. They give kind reassurance to each individual in their care. Their aim is for the residents not to be embarrassed if help is required at any time day and night, and not just in an emergency.
There is always a daily menu choice, which is freshly cooked, nutritious and presented well, thus ensuring a good level of health and well-being. The cakes which are made on a daily basis can be highly recommended.
This is such a wonderful review to read for Manson House. Thank you so much for taking the time to write and share your views. We are so pleased that we have been able to support the person you care for with such love and dignity.
I was extremely impressed with the level of care she received during her stay and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
More like a hotel than a care home.

A friend, resident, elderly with little vision, poor hearing and a tendency to be forgetful was unable to attend a colleague's funeral service. This was distressing but the staff at Manson House were able at short notice to download a video thus giving comfort.

Staff are always happy to discuss the care needs of the resident. They listen to and respect the views of individuals and go the extra mile to ensure the most appropriate input is tailored to the needs of the resident.

My mum has been a resident at Manson House for 5 years and in all that time the staff and management have been fantastic. Manson House and gardens are also wonderfully well maintained.

I have found the home very pleasant and one I am happy to stay in. My son and relations are close by. My daughter, who is not, would be pleased to know that I am able to settle in. Never been in or visited a car home before. I shall love walking round the garden and seeing plants that I had in my own garden. I find this hard as it does bring back happy memories of times gone by.

Manson House is a good caring home. It is small enough to be homely and to get to know the staff well.

Hi, I'm Kate, and I've been working in elderly care since 1999. It started with a college placement at a nursing home, then something clicked, and I've been drawn back ever since.
I've worked my way through almost every role a care home has - carer, senior, shift lead, deputy, and now manager. Every role except cooking, and I'll be the first to tell you that's probably for the best! What that journey has given me is a genuine understanding of what it takes at every level, and a deep respect for the people who do it every day.
If you visit Manson House, I'd want you to know that my door is always open. Honesty, communication and trust are everything in this job, and I don't take lightly what it means for a family to place their confidence in us. I walk around the home every day, spending time with residents and staying close to what's actually happening. That's not something I'll ever stop doing.
What I love most about Manson House is the people. There's a warmth here you feel as soon as you walk through the door. It's a small home with a real intimacy to it. Everyone knows everyone. And the gardens are something else entirely.
The moment that stays with me is watching a resident arrive anxious and withdrawn, then gradually settle, open up and find their place here — building friendships, joining in, laughing. And seeing the relief on their family's face. That's why I do this.
When you visit, please ask me anything. Come and see the home for yourself. I think you'll feel the difference.

I have over three and a half years’ experience working in health and social care recruitment as Head of Compliance, where I was responsible for ensuring social workers met all regulatory and safeguarding requirements to work safely with children and vulnerable adults. In my role, I am guided by resident-centred values, striving to be dependable, consistent and compassionate in everything I do. What I enjoy most is knowing that the work I carry out behind the scenes has a direct and positive impact on residents’ lives. Although my role is administrative, I understand that accurate records, strong organisation and effective communication all contribute to safe, high-quality care.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our dogs, exploring new places and enjoying good food together.

I’ve worked in the care sector for over ten years, starting my journey as a Care Assistant and progressing through senior roles before joining Manson House as Deputy Manager. My experience spans residential and dementia care, and I’m passionate about creating a supportive, person-centred environment where residents feel valued, and staff feel confident and empowered. I believe in leading with empathy, consistency, and integrity, always striving to maintain high standards while nurturing a positive team culture. What I enjoy most about my role is building meaningful relationships, supporting residents to live fulfilling lives and helping colleagues grow in their careers.
Outside of work, I’m very family-oriented and love spending time with the people closest to me.
