Our mother is increasingly frail with multiple care needs. The Manson team do everything to ensure she is comfortable, safe and cared for. She enjoys the varied meals cooked on site. We live a distance away so appreciate being kept up to date should any issues arise. Great job.

We really appreciate you sharing this. Knowing your mother feels safe and cared for, and that you feel well informed despite the distance, means a great deal to our team.

Since arriving in the spring I have been receiving excellent care from everybody in Manson House and a lot of personal kindness and cheerfulness. Everything (including me!) is kept lovely and clean and the food is excellent - well prepared and served and very tasty. What more could a resident want!! Thank you for all that and for the varied and interesting activities offered.

My Dad has lived in Manson House since February 2024 and he is very well looked after by the staff. When I visit, the staff are always very friendly, helpful and chatty. Manson House itself is a lovely building, with plenty of sitting and meeting areas for residents, and beautiful gardens. Also the central location in Bury St Edmunds is great for my father because he still likes to go out for a walk around town, or meet friends.

My parent has been in Manson House for 3 years, experiencing the original charity management, the transition to a commercial operation and the first commercial sale.
As an approach to time, care and interaction between staff and resident, commercial operations cannot compete with a charity, but Manson House continues to develop in excellence.
The kindness and dedication of the Carers and Seniors at Manson House is second to none. Taking the time to get to know family members as well as the resident. Annual Reviews are thorough; informing of health developments, GP and hospital visits swift and reassuring. The rapport with NHS services excellent, always calm in the event of emergency.

The property is a pleasure. Domestic staff are helpful and cleanliness high. Fresh food is nutrition researched and excellent: Delicious treats for visitors now, too.The activities team is kind, creative and inclusive. Admin and management approachable, engaged and prompt. Christmas joy is spread here

I requested a very last minute respite placing for my Mother, and she was found a place at Manson House, at the beginning of the heatwave. The room was on the top floor and overlooking Northgate Street, which was hot and noisy. After an uncomfortable night, they moved her to another room at the rear of the property, which was cooler, quieter and on the first floor. Such a relief to both of us. I visited every other day, only so as Mum didn't feel abandoned, but soon realised that not only was she getting the rest she needed, she was very much looked after. Without exception, all the staff members were cheery, chatty and caring, keeping Mums spirits up and making her feel safe. The food was excellent and varied, the building spotless and the gardens were full of interesting plants, quiet and calm. Our family have viewed the words 'Care home' with fear until now. The staff here really care and we are planning another stay in couple of months.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We're so pleased that we could help accommodate your mother at short notice, especially during such challenging weather. It's wonderful to hear that the move to a cooler, quieter room made a positive difference to her comfort and peace...

I have been extremely happy with the care Grandad has received since being at Manson House. Grandad was unsure that a care home was for him, but he has fully embraced the activities that have been offered. He enjoys going to the garden room and socialising with other residents. I have been very pleased with the care Grandad has received. The staff are very kind, caring and approachable.

My mother, very reluctantly I have to say, went to Manson House for two weeks of respite care on October 3rd 2023. After only a week she told us she didn't want to leave and has been a resident ever since. As a family, we are so grateful to the exceptional staff for taking such good care of her and most importantly making her feel safe. I don't think Mum could be any happier than she is at Manson.

My mum moved into Manson House in November and we've been really impressed with the level of care she's received since then.
Despite initially being in a room that wasn't 100% suitable the team did everything they could to make sure Mum was still comfortable and as soon as a room that was more appropriate became available we were given the opportunity to transfer.

All members of staff have been really supportive of Mum's needs and a special mention must go to the food on offer, I've had a few meals at the home with Mum and they're fantastic!

Reply from Charlie Diamond, Marketing and Communications Lead at Manson House

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are pleased to hear your mum feels well cared for and was able to move into a room more to her liking. Ensuring comfort and meeting individual needs is our priority and we're glad you've enjoyed the dining experience as well. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

So delighted at how quickly my mother settled in and had made many good friends. Lots of fun activities to join in with and a garden and summer house she uses all seasons.
The staff couldn't be more helpful, caring or welcoming.

Mum's room is light and welcoming. She has much of her own furniture there. Always kept clean and tidy by super staff who are second to none in my opinion and I've worked in a fair few nursing homes in the past and Manson House outshines them all.

My mother had a bad fall and after a long time in hospital was unable to look after herself. Not living in the UK I was desperate to find somewhere for her and literally knocked on their door.
From the moment I walked through the door, I was treated so well and the management staff went out of their way to help me get something sorted out. They had an available cosy room and I decided to take it. Normally I would have done months of research but this was clearly meant to be because what I hoped would just be a respite turned into my mother now living there long term. The staff is caring and attentive and the communication with me is excellent. At any given time I can find out if my mother is eating well or taking part in the activities etc. All her movements are documented. I was just visiting her and every room was set up to feel very Christmasy. The food choices are varied and appetizing.

I couldn't be more happy with finding Manson House.

My mother has been living in Manson House for almost two years. She has a lovely, light and airy room overlooking the beautifully-kept garden.
The outstanding aspect of Manson House for me is, without a doubt, the staff. I have never encountered any member of staff without a cheery smile on their face. Their constant 'can-do' attitude is extremely welcome and nothing is too much trouble. This caring and helpful attitude extends to all the staff - from the management & administration team, through to the carers, and also the support staff (the kitchen crew, the cleaning team and the maintenance people).
The small activities team also work extremely hard to offer a varied, interesting programme of games, quizzes, films, crafts and other activities. My mother enjoys joining in with these activities as much as she is able.

I am so pleased to have found Manson House for my mother. She is happy and safe - I couldn't ask for more for her!

Manson House has such a positive feel about it. It is a lovely location and the staff are so engaged and caring with the residents. So pleased to have found Manson House for my mother.
The house itself is wonderful and has been thoughtfully fitted out and furnished to feel welcoming, comfortable and relaxing. The kindness and attention the care team show to the residents is heartwarming and the management team are always accessible and responsive to any requests you may have. The activities are really interesting, relevant and stimulating.
Every aspect has been thought through to create a place where both residents and visitors can feel at home while at the same time feeling confident that the necessary safeguards are in place.

All of these things make Manson House a place anybody would be happy to spend time and I feel very lucky that it is here in Bury St Edmunds.

My mother has been at Manson House since June 2022. She always said that she did not want the family to put her in a home, however, after several short stays in hospital in early 2022, it became clear that Mum was not coping at home. I researched several care homes in Bury St Edmunds and would say that Manson House is, by far, the best one. Since being in the home Mum has improved greatly and although she prefers to stay in her room, she is now content. She is well looked after by the staff who are always very helpful. When I visit, the staff are always welcoming and I feel Mum is well looked after with nothing being too much trouble.

Hi, I'm Kate, and I've been working in elderly care since 1999. It started with a college placement at a nursing home, then something clicked, and I've been drawn back ever since.

I've worked my way through almost every role a care home has - carer, senior, shift lead, deputy, and now manager. Every role except cooking, and I'll be the first to tell you that's probably for the best! What that journey has given me is a genuine understanding of what it takes at every level, and a deep respect for the people who do it every day.

If you visit Manson House, I'd want you to know that my door is always open. Honesty, communication and trust are everything in this job, and I don't take lightly what it means for a family to place their confidence in us. I walk around the home every day, spending time with residents and staying close to what's actually happening. That's not something I'll ever stop doing.

What I love most about Manson House is the people. There's a warmth here you feel as soon as you walk through the door. It's a small home with a real intimacy to it. Everyone knows everyone. And the gardens are something else entirely.

The moment that stays with me is watching a resident arrive anxious and withdrawn, then gradually settle, open up and find their place here — building friendships, joining in, laughing. And seeing the relief on their family's face. That's why I do this.

When you visit, please ask me anything. Come and see the home for yourself. I think you'll feel the difference.
