Thurleston Residential Home is a high quality care service set in the peace and tranquillity of a private park in Ipswich. They aim to provide an excellent standard of care, based on the individual needs of the resident whilst enabling them to remain as independent as possible.

Owners are proud to have a team of dedicated highly trained carers under the Care Manager providing 24 hour professional care in comfortable surroundings with dignity.

Meals are prepared by the Chef from fresh produce and presented to a high standard. A choice of main course menu is available at dinner and supper and they encourage the family to join the resident for meals.

All rooms are single, mostly with en-suite facility and are decorated and furnished to a high standard. All aspects of services are treated with the utmost importance including the social and dining environment, personal hobbies and lifestyle. They organise regular outing and entertainment for residents.

After a long struggle with both Mum and Dad's issues, the family had to find a suitable care home for them. It's been a difficult transition but we can honestly say finding Thurleston Residential Home has been a life changer for all of us. Dad now has a much better quality of life, Mum can still be
with him after 60 years of marriage and the family can re-gain their lives back to normal, knowing that they are in good hands and get all that they need. The staff there have been instrumental in making this happen in a way that is dignified and stress-free. The support, respect and care they have given our parents, as well as ourselves has been incredible. They all deserve medals for the compassion, kindness and strength they provide. Long may our parents thrive there, taking part in the activities and events organised for them and benefit from the daily routine that supports them to enjoy the time that they have. Thank you so much, you have all made a huge difference to the whole family.

In the last year the home has come on leaps and bounds. There are still a number of updates that need attention: flooring in the entrance and throughout looks dirty, dining room has inadequate space for residents ie wheelchairs, walking frames. All staff are polite and willing to help with any query.
Communication via email is excellent. Management is second to none - information queries I have are dealt with asap. This is now a happy residential home. Thanks to Manager.

I'm so impressed with the expanded knowledge of the whereabouts of my muddled school friend - even on day one of my visiting they all knew where she was. The entertainment manager is beyond brilliant - he cares so much, when I visit my dear school friend he is able to regain so very many memories of
the residents.

After four stays in respite care, we persuaded my mother-in-law to become a permanent resident. At home, she had no life living in just one room unable to do anything for herself as her mobility and her mental capacity had declined often sitting on her own for long periods of time. Carers and family
did what they could but we were becoming increasingly worried about her. Fast forward just over two months and the difference is incredible, Mum is a completely different person since becoming full-time, she is much more mobile and able to do so much more for herself, finding an independence she could have never been able to achieve at home, she looks more like her old self again. One of her highlights is having a regular bath and getting her hair done. We knew the home as Mum's sister is also a resident, the staff are very friendly and always happy to help answer any questions and great at letting you know if there are any issues with Mum.

Dad has been resident at the home for nearly a year following a prolonged hospital stay and a decision that he could no longer manage in sheltered housing. We had no prior experience of the care system, but we received a warm welcome and some sound initial guidance. The home is clean, cosy and well-maintained,
and the setting is lovely too. Meals are plentiful, varied and nutritious, and although Dad has never been much of an eater - even less so now he's got less mental capacity - the staff ensure he gets appropriate supplements (and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of chocolate biscuits). Every member of staff is very friendly, approachable and eminently sensible. The staff are great at keeping me up to date whenever Dad's condition changes, and they always inform me promptly of any ambulance call-outs, GP visits etc, regardless of the outcome. I feel that they've taken the time to really get to know Dad as a person, as well as to understand his conditions and medications.

The staff are wonderful at this place. Two particular members of staff are always there to reassure me about my mum's progress. All the staff are friendly and super helpful, and as I work abroad, it is good to know my mum is safe and in caring wonderful hands.

My 101-year-old father was moved into Thurleston care home after it became too much for him to remain living independently in his home.
The staff were welcoming and accommodating, considering he'd lived all his life in the house he was born in and was somewhat reluctant to move. However, he soon settled
in and was happy.
The care and attention he received was second to none. He never had any complaints, and neither did my brother or myself. When his family visited they were made very welcome and any questions were always thoroughly and thoughtfully dealt with.
The building and facilities were always clean and tidy.
The food was excellent and plentiful (much to my father's pleasure, as he loved his grub).
I cannot speak more highly of the staff. My father was on a slow downward spiral when he entered the home and the love and care he received was beyond outstanding.
On his passing, he was treated with great care, love and dignity. We received wonderful support from the staff.

From August 2023, when my mum was admitted as an emergency, Thurleston House and the team have been fantastic. I am located abroad so the team keep me updated via email with photos and are always willing to locate my mum when I call so that I can speak with her. At the same time, when I have been in
person, you are always welcomed with a smile and cheery conversation.
It has been easy to communicate not only with the senior management team but also the accounts department whenever I’ve needed assistance.
It is reassuring to know that Mum is being looked after and most importantly, I know that she is safe!

My friend is a resident of Thurleston Lodge. He is very happy there. He receives excellent care, and good food and there are always easy activities that he can enjoy when he is well enough. I have always found the staff quick to respond to any health issues, and I am notified if there are any concerns.

My sister-in-law moved into Thurleston (together with her husband) in November 2021. The process of moving into a residential home was made very easy by the staff. Unfortunately, her husband has since passed away and again the arrangements were carried out sympathetically and efficiently by the staff.
I know that my sister-in-law greatly appreciates the efficiency and kindness of the staff. The strength of Thurleston is the quality of the staff.

Mum has settled in well and loves her carers, she’s very content, the only issue at the moment is a lady who keeps going into Mum's room and it is getting Mum very agitated and we are very worried about how angry Mum is getting about it. I’d hate for anything to happen as Mum is threatening to hit her!
Not sure what can be done, but we are concerned.
Would also love to be able to make Mum a cup of tea when we visit if at all possible. The staff are so kind and will make one, but would like to do that for them as they have enough to do.

Whenever we visit we find the staff always have time to discuss any concerns. The home is clean and well cared for. The person we visit has dementia and is hard of hearing but the staff do their utmost to communicate with her. Whenever we are unable to visit the staff will always be prepared to talk
over the phone. And whenever there is a problem they always telephone me to let me know.

My mother sadly passed away in the early hours of 7th November 2021. She had been a resident at Thurleston for six and a half years and her care was never short of excellent. Although she had declined in the months leading to her death, the end, when it came, was unexpected and very quick. A member
of staff called to warn us that the end was near. Although we live 5 minutes away, we were out of county when we were contacted. By the time of our arrival, her end of life care plan was already in place. In their own words, my mother was "Their main priority that day" and as such, the staff were taking it in turns to sit with her. We were treated with kindness. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The Nurse Practitioner who attended, commented that "We had struck gold" when she saw the level of care that was being shown and commented that her job was made easy by the meticulous attention to detail in her end of life paperwork. Many thanks to all staff involved.
