Mum recently moved to Oriel Lodge and we have been delighted with how well and quickly she has settled. The home appears to be very well managed, the staff are so kind, friendly and caring and mum always looks happy and well cared for. Mum has taken part in a range of activities and has been out on
trips and looks happier and more relaxed than she has done for a very long time. We cannot thank the staff enough for all their hard work which has made the transition so smooth. The food is excellent and also the maintenance and housekeeping is of a high standard. Mum arrived late in the afternoon on her first day and by the next morning all her pictures had been put up on the wall and her room looked so homely. Family who have visited recently said that mum already looks five years younger!

Great care and empathy for my Dad.
He has a number of calls and always has great communication and follow-up.

My father-in-law, with advanced Alzheimers, needed care in January 2022. There were no places at our preferred home Oriel Lodge close to his family home. In May a place became available and with the help of the manager and a carer he was accepted. This carer went out of her way in her own time to collect
from a previous home with his care needs/lifestyle requirements. He is extremely happy in his new home. Communication with the family is excellent. Oriel Lodge is immaculately clean, excellent care, excellent food and organised social occasions. Nothing is too much bother.

First my Sister seems happy and well cared for. We went to the homes barbecue on Saturday 6-8-22 and we were well looked after and all the clients seemed to enjoy the day and had smiles on their faces plus some of the staff gave up some of their own time to help out. Well done all the staff

Mum is very settled and content at Oriel Lodge. The staff are brilliant - very caring and supportive and friendly. Mum is always well cared for and treated with dignity and respect. She also seems to enjoy the food and seems to be doing well and with the food. She had a nice room which always seems
clean and tidy. Mum is quite introverted, as was quite withdrawn before coming to Oriel Lodge, but seems to enjoy the community and experience here.

Staff most helpful and seem very caring. Nice to know Mum being cared for and her needs, medical care good, and frequently checked.
Occupational therapy would be appreciated as very little activity takes place. Need more active movement while seated, and limbs moving and circulation.
Communication
with staff and contemporaries would be good, although staff very busy. Overall very good.

My mum went into Oriel Lodge on emergency respite last August and was not really up to returning home so I arranged a permanent placement in Oriel Lodge. I have found the staff generally and individually extremely kind, positive, helpful and committed doing a brilliant job of looking, after all, aspects
of my mums physical and mental wellbeing. Mum always says how happy she is there and loves the food and is more social than she has been for years and enjoys the activities too.

I have found the staff to be helpful and supportive. The accommodation where she sleeps would definitely benefit from a makeover the day area is good. I appreciate the staff encouraging my mother to get involved in activities and allowing myself to have some involvement. I really admire the staff and

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.903)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.903) out of 10 for Oriel Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.971 for Oriel Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.971
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.932 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oriel Lodge is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.682
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
