We found St Philips & St James a real home from home. The bedroom was reconfigured to meet Mums needs for respite care. All the staff were extremely friendly, almost immediately all staff on duty came to welcome her & introduce themselves. They were attentive & respectful of her privacy & dignity at all times. Sadly it was winter, but ther appeared to be nice gardens for warmer parts of the year. The food was freshly prepared with a choice of options, the portions weren't large, but Mum was never hungry. A nice conservatory area where Mum could have friends to visit, and make themselves a drink. There was regular entertainment & activities although Mum didn't join in everything, and that wasn't a problem.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure to care for your lovely Mum. I will pass your review on to the team.
I visited Mum on numerous occasions over the 20 months she lived there (she passed away in May 25) and found the management and all female care team to be friendly, professional, open and caring. In fact they became our 'care home family '. She was looked after so well. She did have her feisty moments but was always treated with dignity, compassion and understanding. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone.
What a lovely review, thank you so much. It was a pleasure looking after your mum and so lovely to have such a supportive , appreciative family.I will make sure the whole team see your amazing review.
Mum has been looked after in this care home for nearly a year. We have found all staff to be dedicated and kind at all times. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble. We are always greeted with a warm welcome and although mum, at 93, isn't the most pleasant person to be around at the best of times, this has never stopped anyone at St Phillip and St James being kind, helpful, yet professional each and every day. Our on-going thanks to all of them, they are the best. This care home goes above and beyond.
What a fabulous review, thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. It is so lovely to hear. I will make sure all the team are informed. Thanks for your support and appreciation.
I have always found the home clean, tidy and well-run. There is an overriding caring attitude to everything they do. My Mother wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I will pass it on to all the team.
I have visited my friend in this home twice since her recent admission. She has praised the care, kindness and good humour of the staff unreservedly. I understand that the home is staffed almost entirely but regular carers with very little use of agency staff, which itself indicates good quality care and management. My friend, while very much regrettably the need to be in care, feels that she couldn't be anywhere better. During my visits, the affection between them has been obvious, and I myself have been treated with courtesy and kindness.
Thank you for your lovely review. It really is appreciated by all the team.
A lovely family-run business with staff who really care about their resident's welfare. Unfortunately, my father-in-law now needs specialist dementia care, otherwise, we would have no hesitation in him staying for respite care again.
Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review, it really is appreciated. I'll pass on your message to the staff team.
Their communication with us has been superb, and I honestly don’t think we could have gotten through the dreaded Covid outbreak the way we did without the constant updates from them. My nan suffers from dementia/Alzheimer’s, and the way they treat her needs still amazes me now.
So I would like to thank each and every one of you (especially a certain someone), for the way you look out for her and help make her be the amazing woman she is.
What a wonderful review! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. It's great to have such positive feedback and makes it all worthwhile. I will pass on your lovely comments to everyone.
My mother was invited to stay at the home aged 93, with a diagnosis of mixed dementia. 17 months later we were summoned to a “care review” meeting in which they said she was too difficult to care for and gave her one month's notice to leave. As this was my first indication of this situation, I asked why this was the first I’d heard about it, the reply was that COVID had prevented them communicating the situation - despite my seeing my mother on a regular basis. No reply was given to an email asking what about Zoom, Skype, or a phone call.
The next week I was emailed requesting her forwarding home and departure date and repeated updates of her notice period.
Obviously finding a suitable home takes time and serious consideration, irrespective of availability.
My mother died at the end of January. I was grateful that she never knew she was unwelcome at St Philip and St James and didn’t have to go through the anxiety of a move to another home.
The first email I received after her death was to ask me to return the TV wall attachment so they could use it for another resident. When I replied that we had bought it, I was asked for the purchase receipt. No condolences were offered until 3 ½ weeks later, at the end of the accountant’s email detailing her final account.
My advice to anyone wanting to stay here is- Don’t get old and never complain about anything.
Thank you for your review. The five-star rating for the staff of St Philips is most welcome and reflects our ongoing work to provide a first-class home from home for all our residents. We have had communications about the other items mentioned. I would be very happy to further discuss those with you if that would be of assistance as this will help us further improve our services.
We are so glad that my mother was able to settle into this care home before the pandemic. She has very little memory and gets confused, and we were able to visit often while she settled in, which made lockdown much more bearable for us and for her. She has been treated with kindness and understanding, and we can see from her smile when staff talk to her that she is well cared for. It has made such a difference over the last two difficult years.
What a lovely review to read. Thank you so much for your kind words they really do mean so much to us all. We will pass on your wonderful feedback to everyone. Thank you so much.
We feel completely at ease, that Auntie has the very best care, with lovely friendly staff. Before Covid, we always felt so welcome, also to join in the lovely activities and be included. Since Covid, we were always updated, kept fully informed, always very easy to make appointments for pod visits.
We cannot recommend this home enough.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. It is lovely to hear how your Aunt has "blossomed" since she has been with us. It really does make it all so worthwhile knowing how happy our residents are. Your wonderful feedback is really appreciated by us all. I will pass on your lovely comments to our fantastic staff.
Mum has been a resident at the home for 6-months. She has settled in well and enjoys the excellent, friendly, personal care given to her by the staff. She enjoys the ample food provided and the entertainment that is laid on. Her room is comfortable, light and of good size with ensuite toilet and shower facilities. The room and public spaces are kept very clean, tidy and fresh at all times. All the NHS recommended precautions against Coronavirus have been followed. My experience of dealing with the staff has been excellent. They are professional, always friendly, very helpful and willing to give advice. I would definitely recommend the home.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We will pass on your lovely comments to all the staff. I am so glad your Mum has settled in so well and is so happy. We are lucky to have a fantastic staff team.
My mum has been a resident here since December 2020, and due to Covid restrictions, it has not always been possible to visit, apart from a pod visit, but I would like to say, that the home has always endeavoured to accommodate visits whenever possible and encouraged visits outside of the home when this was safe. All of the staff there are very caring and really go out of their way to make daily life in the home as pleasant as it can be. I am very happy with the care that Mum is receiving and have peace of mind that she is getting the best care possible. Thank you to all the staff, and would highly recommend this home for a loved one.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review; it really is appreciated by us all. We will pass on your lovely comments to our wonderful staff.
I cannot fault St Phillip & St James home for the excellent care and treatment my mother has received from the staff at this delightful residence. She has been there for about 4-years and is very happy, which is all we, as a family, can ask for. There is a happy and relaxed atmosphere in this lovely home, and there is plenty for the residents to do, well organised by the various staff members. I am just so thankful that Mum is in such a caring place, and I would recommend this home to anyone.
What a wonderful review, thank you so much for taking the time to write it. We really do have a wonderful team, and it is so lovely to know your mother is happy here.
The home itself feels very homely; it is very comfortable and clean. The size of the rooms is varied because it is composed of several buildings, but this makes it more interesting.
Quite quickly one realises that the ethos behind the home, the wonderful, thoughtful, caring and committed staff are its star qualities. I would certainly recommend St Philip & St James.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It is really appreciated. I am so glad to hear your Father is happy at St Philips. It is a credit to the staff team who really do go out of their way to make everyone feel at home. I will make sure I pass on your lovely feedback to everyone.
I recommend this home as a kind, caring place to be with committed staff.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. It is so nice to have positive feedback, especially since it has been such a difficult time for everyone dealing with all the Covid regulations and restrictions. We have a great team of staff, who I will make sure get to read your wonderful review.
The staff showed compassion from the outset. They made all the arrangements to assess and transport my mother directly from the rehabilitation unit where she was staying. My mother was understandably anxious and confused, but she has settled in, and this is now truly her home where she is surrounded by caring staff in a loving family environment, and she feels safe and secure, even though she is suffering from some memory loss. She adores her room with lovely views, a huge TV and her own telephone. She enjoys the activities they provide, often preferring to watch rather than join in. They also take her out for walks in the local area, which she loves. The staff have been fantastic in keeping the residents safe during the pandemic and have made every effort to keep us informed about changes in visits during this time. My mother is very content, and I look forward to her long and happy stay here.
What a wonderful review to read. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, it really is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our team here at St Philips. We are so pleased to hear you feel your mum feels safe and secure and is so happy and settled here.
It is a wonderful, caring home, and I have complete peace of mind that my mum is in the best place for her and getting loving care.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so pleased to hear you have "complete peace of mind" knowing that your mum is in "the best place for her". We really appreciate these heartfelt words and will make sure the staff team are made aware of these lovely comments.
I would like to recommend this home. My nan was a resident here for a couple of years, and the standard of care she received was always exceptional. Despite the restrictions of Covid, the staff always tried to improve their quality of life, which was not always easy! I must also add that in the last 2-weeks of her life, several staff, in particular, went above and beyond to make her comfortable, and for that, I will be eternally grateful.
Thank you so much for your kind words, it really does mean so much to us to get wonderful feedback from relatives of our residents. End-of-life care is always so important, and we are blessed to have staff who ensure our residents are kept comfortable and all their needs are met at this time.
The staff have always been welcoming, and my mother has always been well cared for and happy; this has given me great comfort knowing she is safe, especially during Covid when I have been unable to visit.
My mum loves the entertainment, and the staff have always shown her kindness, getting her to join in and making time to dance with her to music, as this is her favourite thing to do.
One carer, in particular, has gone above and beyond to care for my mum, and we will always be grateful for the care she has shown.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, it really is appreciated by us all. We will pass on your lovely comments to our wonderful staff.
I cannot thank the directors and all their lovely staff enough.
We were kept fully informed during the Covid emergency when they applied all the correct procedures to the benefit of the residents.
To anyone in their hour of need, I cannot recommend St Phillips highly enough, and I wish them well.
What a lovely review to read. Thank you so much for your kind words they really do mean so much to us all. We will pass on your wonderful feedback to the staff team. Many thanks.
