Both owners and staff really care about the residents. It has been very difficult since Covid-19 for staff, residents and their friends and families.
Even under this pressure, all the staff show constant care, consideration and friendship to the people living there. I hope with more freedom they will be able to go back to having outings and activities that were allowed before Covid.
It is a happy and fun house.
We are happy that we found such a lovely place, with a great reputation.
Thank you to everyone who works there.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We will pass on your lovely comments to all the staff. We are lucky to have a fantastic staff team that genuinely cares about the residents and their families.
St Philips really was her home throughout that time. She made friends with other residents and with the staff. The staff were, without exception, caring but also supportive of anything Mum was able to do for herself. Originally, Mum was well enough to go out for walks on her own, later they would go with her. There were times when Mum was very difficult to deal with. After a prolonged stay in the hospital, her dementia got suddenly much worse and Mum developed delirium. The staff were very patient with her, and it took some weeks, but Mum got almost back to how she was before. I don't think many residential homes would have been willing to give someone as much time and support to recover. This was a distressing time for me and for the rest of the family, but we were also helped by the staff throughout. My thanks to everyone at St Philips.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and for the lovely words within it. It really is a testament to the whole staff team. We are so pleased to hear that your Mum was so happy during her time with us at St Philips. We were very blessed to have your support throughout the nine years your Mum was with us.
I would not hesitate to recommend this residential care home to anyone.
What a lovely review to read. Thank you so much for your kind words, it really is appreciated by the whole staff team. We are lucky to have supportive families helping us through this difficult time through all the Covid restrictions.
The staff were very caring, looked after her perfectly, and did all they could to make her final months bearable.
They could not do enough for her. Myself and the family believe she couldn't have been in a better place.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It really is appreciated by us all. Your kind words will be passed on to the staff team as it is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team.
She has made a lovely group of friends who really do make a difference.
Of course, there can be issues, but the staff have gone out of their way to try and work with us (especially when I lost the plot over lockdown).
I was dreading the care home experience and now think it has turned into a positive experience.

St Phillip's is friendly, homely, warm and caring.
Thank you for your lovely review. It has been a difficult time for us all, and we really appreciate the support you have given us. I will pass on your wonderful comments to the staff team.
My mum spent nearly three years at St Philip & St James and sadly she recently passed away aged 97. I wanted to place on record my heartfelt thanks for the kindness and compassion the staff at the home showed to my mum at all times during her period with them. She never failed to tell me how happy she was at the home and loved the carers who looked after her. She also enjoyed spending time in the conservatory doing her knitting and involved herself in the many other activities that were provided for the residents. I live some distance from Keynsham and the management of the home kept me regularly advised as to how my mum was doing both mentally and physically; they were also very accommodating when it came to my visits during the Covid pandemic because they knew that I was travelling from Dorset. My mum moving into St Philip & St James was the best decision my mum and I made, so I would recommend them without any reservations - it is quite literally a 'home from home'.
From the outset, the home, made it clear that a resident was a resident for life no matter how much nursing care they might need in the future. And in the last few months of her life, my mother needed a lot.
Finally, I would also commend the home on the way they look after relatives on the outside, allowing us to be as involved as we needed to be.
My father was a resident of St Phillip & St James for the last 18-months of his life. He had first-class care and attention from all the staff and was very happy living there. He was always made to feel, and it was repeatedly stressed, that it was his home and not just an institution. The residents’ needs came first, and he always said that nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff to attend to his needs. He felt they were all his friends. I would have no hesitation in recommending to any of my family to live there.
I am always greeted with friendliness and warmth. Staff keep me fully informed of any changes and there is always a member of staff with whom I can discuss any aspect of her care. The food is always beautifully presented. All areas are beautifully clean and nicely presented. St Phillips and St James was highly recommended to me and I have since recommended it to friends whose elderly family members need care. Every aspect of St Philips is excellent and the staff are the absolute best!
She enjoyed so much here including music and painting. We had the occasional wine and cheese evening and also opportunities for outings and much more. A very special place.
They looked after my dad with care, compassion, cheerful personalities and they never did this as a job but with caring natures and a want to help people. Nothing too much trouble and my dad loved his time there albeit too brief.
He always said it is the next best thing to heaven - praise indeed !!
Thank you to the manager and the staff.
My mother was resident in this care home for nearly two years. She had not been happy in her previous home but this one was a complete contrast. All her physical needs were catered for, her room and all the other facilities were kept constantly clean, and she was encouraged to join in all the activities and events which were provided. The staff in this home enabled my mother to enjoy her life not just because of the physical care, but because they gave her emotional stability. Whenever she was lonely or distressed they would sit with her and talk, or enable her to be with other residents to talk to.
My reason for recommending this home is not just because standards were met or exceeded, but because the care team there gave my mother so much extra. They managed successfully to look after her emotional needs as well as her physical requirements. On each occasion, I visited my mother told me how much she loved her carers.
Mum's room is in the new extension - her room is beautifully decorated and furnished, as is the dining room and lounge. The other thing we love about the home is the activities which are run most mornings - exercise, knit and natter, quiz, occasional trips out.
Following a fall, the home took my mum back the same day from hospital despite a broken pelvic bone. She could not have received better care, being assisted with exercises daily and recovering very quickly.
