My honest opinion is that you could not ask for a more caring staff .

They always greet family with a cheerful smile. And I think the home is like home for my brother and the residents that live there . AMAZING .

Staff interact with residents with great Care & Compassion. Residents are treated with kindness & dignity. Staff are always on hand and available. The environment is clean and rooms comfortable with a lovely outside area. Plenty of social engagements and entertainment are provided and staff go out of their way to engage all residents and make it fun. My Aunt joined in things like tai chi, painting and things she had never tried before. This was a 4 week respite placement but I would definitely use The Grove in the future.

From the start the home & all staff have been fantastic. Very attentive & caring, giving us re-assurance that our loved one would be well looked after. Even with additional safeguarding needs, management/staff have gone above & beyond to help support & facilities these needs. Communication has been excellent. We are very thankful for how wonderful/friendly the staff have been in their high level of care. Thank you.

My mum moved into the Grove a few months ago. The staff I met both before and since she moved in have been amazing and were a big part of choosing the home and how well mum has settled in. They all have such a positive attitude, you can tell they genuinely care about each resident and adapt the care and activities to suit. The home is always clean when I visit. If mum has a problem, the GP is called promptly and they keep me informed. Although it is a smaller home than some, the separate lounges give residents different areas to relax in and there always seems to be a lot going on. They take trips out to local events and put on events in support local and national charities, which the residents love. I am so grateful for how well they look after mum and how safe she is at The Grove.

My Auntie really didn't want to leave her home and go into a care home, but the staff have helped her to settle really well. They have encouraged her out of her bedroom and she is socialising really well, thus combating the isolation and loneliness she felt previously. The staff are attentive to her needs and nothing is too much trouble. It is very clean and tidy. She loves sitting in the garden and they always have snacks available including fruit. They have been outstanding at taking my Auntie out including going to church services, which is important for her. We really have nothing to fault + we're so pleased we found this home.

All staff maintain their serenity at all times. They are extremely friendly to all residents, guests and colleagues, emotionally aware and affectionate in an entirely appropriate manner. I'm delighted to entrust my father's care to each and every one of them. The communal spaces are light and airy, attractively decorated and very comfortable. A wide variety of activities is organised focussing on stimulation, fun, inclusion or the boosting of self-esteem. I appreciate it's an expensive business but prices in this country are, frankly, outrageous. The expression 'fleeced' comes to mind.

The Grove were excellent and provided first rate care for my dad. The home has a real community feel and everyone is invited to be as independent and to join in with activities as much or as little as they like. Dad was very happy and the team cared for him as though he was their dad. I can't thank them enough.

My mum recently passed away following 4 years at The Grove, she had severe dementia and could barely communicate. She arrived at The Grove during the Pandemic Lockdown and initially isolated herself in her bedroom. One of the carers was fantastic with her and encouraged her to go downstairs and integrate with the other residents. Although my mum's dementia didn't improve her general wellbeing improved massively. She was much happier and went from always being in her room to spending all of her time downstairs watching what was happening and enjoying the activities even though she couldn't take part herself. All of the staff were supportive and encouraging. When my my mum became very ill in November 2024, the carer once again was fantastic looking after her needs and providing comfort and care at the end of her life. Thank you to this carer and all the staff who helped through her last years.

As a family, we have been very gratified by the care taken of our dad at the Grove, Winterbourne. We feel the staff team has tried hard to get to know what works well for Dad and have tried hard to help us come to terms with his increasingly complex needs and life in the care home. We would like to see more comfortable chairs in the quiet room where Dad feels most at ease.

Mum has been a resident here for over two years. In that time she has become very fond of the excellent staff who care for her. Sadly I am becoming concerned about the amount of time Mum's carers now have to actually engage with her. Weekends are noticeably short-staffed. There were four staff on today which surely is not enough to look after over thirty residents as well as serve their meals and snacks throughout the day. Is there a legal requirement on the staff-to-client ratio?

Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at The Grove

Hello,Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We do use an industry standard staffing tool to roster sufficient staff on. I'm sorry you feel we' re not spending enough time with your Mum. I'll certainly check in with our Manager and make sure we're not running short on staff. Thanks very much for sharing this view. With my best wishes, Helen

It is important for our residents to remain part of the community in which will have lived for years, often all their lives, so the other part of this role is connecting with local community groups, charities and organisations.
