Penrice House was established as a Residential Care Home in 1978, as a registered charity. The House is a Grade 2 listed building.

Situated in its own beautiful grounds, approximately one and a half miles from St. Austell’s town centre, the Home is approached by a private drive, some three-quarters of a mile long, through a combination of flowering shrubs and woodland. Seating is placed along the driveway and around the grounds.

The Registered Care Manager & Penrice House pride themselves on offering a highly professional care service for the elderly, with a personal touch. Prioritising dignity and respect, they follow the ethos that residential care needn't be seen as a last resort but rather as a new start, where people are able to enjoy the later years of life with the peace of mind that everything is taken care of.

They are pleased to accept service users for long term stays and offer respite were there are vacancies.

We appreciate our good fortune in finding Penrice House for our mother-in-law who has now been a resident for over 4 years. We simply could not wish for any better provision: the staff are all extremely well trained, with an emphasis on individual, attentive care. The house and grounds are absolutely
beautiful and we have been very impressed with the way in which there is constant re-decoration so that nothing ever looks tired or shabby. Mum has changed rooms several times and each time the room into which she moves is redecorated and carpets replaced. The food is home-cooked and plentiful with drinks provided throughout the day. The way in which Covid was dealt with was exemplary and we all felt as safe and secure as it was possible to be. The staff went to a great deal of trouble to celebrate Mum's 90th with us during lockdown. Mum has always been able to raise any concerns she has had, knowing that she will be sympathetically listened to and action taken.

Hello, I am Clare and my in role as Care Manager I am responsible for managing all key aspects of the care within the home.


I have over 30 years of experience in elderly care and have a significant understanding of the sector and the relationships required to deliver quality care to residents and families.


I am aware of the local infrastructure that supports the community and has engaged in collaborative work with some of the professionals within these organisations and has the motivation to develop into the wider community.


I began my career in care 32 years ago as a care assistant. Since then I have completed my NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care as well as the Post Graduate Certificate in Education, along with 20 specialist training courses. I am passionate about creating a positive, family environment for residents and staff.


When not busy at Penrice House, I enjoy camping, holidays and spending time with my two adult children and friends and family in the wonderful Cornish countryside.
