My father has been a resident at Ashfield for almost 6 months. Moving him into a home was a difficult but necessary decision to make as a family and thankfully Nelly and her team at Ashfield helped to negotiate the move in a caring and understanding manner.
Having a family member with Alzheimer's can mean their behaviour and personality changes and the team at Ashfield especially Nelly, Donna, Ruth and Jasmin look after Dads changing needs so well with such patience as though he was their own loved one.
This means I can now visit as a daughter, not a carer, and enjoy my time with my Dad knowing he is getting the right care for his condition.
The meals are cooked from scratch using fresh ingredients and Dad is clearly enjoying them.

I am so grateful to Nelly and her team and would recommend Ashfield wholeheartedly.

My mother has been a resident since October 2025. Staff are very caring and attentive. The management staff are very approachable and have been knowledgeable regarding my mothers medical and personal needs. Food appears to be very good, my mother particularly enjoys the puddings. There also appears to be a programme of entertainment designed to stimulate mental wellbeing. All in all we are very happy with the care provided for my mother.

Reply from Nelly Dumitru, Manager at Ashfield

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so pleased to hear that your mother is happy and well cared for with us. Your kind comments about our staff, management team, activities, and food are greatly appreciated especially knowing your mother enjoys the puddings! Thank you again for your trust and support.

My mum has been a resident at Ashfield for around 18 months due to having dementia.
Ashfield regularly arrange activities and events that entertain, stimulate and engage the residents.
As a daughter, it makes me happy to see the level of enrichment that this home is providing for not only my mum but other residents as well.

From all of my experience and time spent at Ashfield, I can see that they provide a caring and inclusive environment for all residents.

Unfortunately I had to put my mother who has dementia in Ashfield home, followed by my stepfather who is in and out of hospital with Parkinson's and health issues, but relived they are together, each one has there own spacious bedroom.
I am full of admiration for the kindness, attention and so much patience from the team there.
So touched and grateful towards Nelly the manageresse that not only spends time with the patients , has a chat in Italian with my mother, and who several times went to visit in hospital my stepfather and gave a chance to have a chat and see my mother via video call with Nellys phone as my mother was so anxious beeing by herself.
Another bonus there, is the most delicious (I tried them) fresh meals cooked every day and so varied,
I find it is also an important issue.
It is so reassuring to leave my parents there as they are so well looked after.

I am very grateful , THANK YOU.

My beautiful mum lived at Ashfields for over four years and she was so very happy there. She made wonderful friends but also she loved the staff and they loved her in equal measure. Mum had several conditions including dementia and gradually her health deteriorated. Nothing was too much trouble for Ashfields so once we knew mum was coming to end of life care it was an easy decision to keep her at Ashfields where she was loved rather than ending her days in hospital. My sincere and deepest thanks go to all the staff at Ashfields for the love and care they gave not only to mum but also towards myself and other family members. Mum "Lizzie" thought the world of all of you. X

My Auntie was resident at Ashfield for more than three years until her recent passing. She was always treated with care and respect and settled in to the gentle life there. There are daily activities or entertainment organised to keep residents mentally stimulated. Her room was small but certainly adequate. She loved no longer having to cook and clean!
The staff have also been very caring and helpful towards me at this time.

I would certainly recommend Ashfield to anyone looking for a care home for their relative.

My mother-in-law, who has dementia, is receiving first-class care at this home. The staff are incredibly kind, patient, and attentive - they take the time to really understand her needs and always treat her with dignity and compassion. It's clear they genuinely care about the residents and go above and beyond to make them feel safe and supported.

Meals are freshly prepared on site and always look delicious, with plenty of variety. Although she isn't eating much these days, the team are very understanding and do everything they can to encourage her and make mealtimes pleasant.

We feel reassured knowing she's in such capable and caring hands. It's a real comfort to see her so well looked after - truly first-class care all round.

I was not expecting to find such an amazing Care Home for my cousin. Whilst she was sent from the Hospital I was hoping for something better however after being in there a few days & now a week I realise this was one of the better ones. The staff are amazing the Cook is 2nd to none and they could not be more caring and kind if they tried. I have to say the meals look so appetising and they are always hot whereas a lot of places it's lukewarm. I can say in all honesty anyone who has any doubts of going into Ashfield let me put your mind at rest. It might not be the most amazing looking Care Home from the outside, but just go in and see the care and consideration and the respect that are given to the residents in there.

My mum came to Ashfield following a short stay in hospital. A bout of influenza left her with some delirium , therefore it was decided to allow some respite for me, and more recovery time for her in a rest home. She has found the move to a care facility extremely challenging and her behaviour has been difficult. All I can say is in my experience so far that the staff have been wonderfull. They have shown incredible warmth to me , but more importantly to my mother. I especially have to mention the home manager who has gone out of her way, often outside of her working hours to reassure me of any worries and concerns i have. This kindness extends to her team who are treating my mum with patience and care, in what I consider a very challenging job.

My mother moved into Ashfield in October 2024. She has chronic schizophrenia. She has good days and some very bad days. The manageress was always available to talk to me before she moved in and made me feel that this was the right place for her to live. Every time I visit, the manageress is always on hand to give me an update on her or to let me know of any hiccups that have happened. My mother left an institution and moved into a beautiful home. She's not an easy resident, but the staff handle her with care and respect. She loves the food that is cooked fresh there, and I've noticed that her weight seems to be more stable than where she was before. The dining room is a lovely, light space and very inviting. The residents were singing to a singing duo last week, and they were wonderful to watch. My mother is definitely in a good place at Ashfield, and I feel that she has made friends and is integrating really well there. I am so happy she is there.

My mother was in Ashfield for around 18 months before she passed. She loved the kind staff and although Mum was a fussy eater they tried to tempt her with things. Mum joined in the social activities and boat trips when she was still able as well as shopping trips.

The building needs work - the ensuite toilet was too small to navigate with a walking frame, poor internet connection made phone calls tricky, and there were insufficient plug points. All care homes need to upgrade internet access for the next (my) generation (whilst we have the cognitive abilities). Mum used to video call me but then couldn't and often staff were too busy, so sometimes I could not speak to her for days. There was never a hand towel in the room. But the rooms have been painted and Mum had her things. She wanted to stay at Ashfield even though she was 200 hundred miles away from her family. The important thing is that Mum was happy there and the staff loved and cared for her.

My mum has been at Ashfield since October 2023, this was a very unsettling process for her but she was made to feel very welcome and the staff did all they could to make it feel like home. My mum is now very settled and we can feel confident that she is cared for on a daily basis. The staff are very welcoming and there is always someone available to chat to. The new manager has made a huge difference to the day-to-day running of the home and is always available to answer any questions or concerns. The food at the home is all cooked on the premises by a chef and offers a variety of well-prepared meals.

My mum has been a resident at Ashfields for a while now and, although suffering from dementia, she seems very happy here. As her daughter and closest family member to Mum, her happiness and well-being is the most important thing in the world to me. The staff are always helpful and caring here, they speak to Mum and to me with respect and kindness at all times. Mum is always clean, smells lovely, warm and is looked after no matter what time of day or night I visit! Her health and care needs are met at all times and if I ever have questions or concerns, someone is always available to put my mind at rest and answer my questions. Putting my mum into a care home was the hardest decision I have ever had to make in life, it’s never easy and you suffer the guilt for a long long time, but I am happy I chose Ashfields and I’m happy they care for my mum.
