Review from Sarah J (Daughter of Resident) published on 8 March 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mum has been a resident at Ashfields for a while now and, although suffering from dementia, she seems very happy here. As her daughter and closest family member to Mum, her happiness and well-being is the most important thing in the world to me. The staff are always helpful and caring here, they speak to Mum and to me with respect and kindness at all times. Mum is always clean, smells lovely, warm and is looked after no matter what time of day or night I visit! Her health and care needs are met at all times and if I ever have questions or concerns, someone is always available to put my mind at rest and answer my questions. Putting my mum into a care home was the hardest decision I have ever had to make in life, it’s never easy and you suffer the guilt for a long long time, but I am happy I chose Ashfields and I’m happy they care for my mum.

In my view, Ashfield Care Home is second to none and I am extremely happy that my husband is a resident there. My stepmother is new to Ashfield but we have been very impressed with the homeliness of the place, the level of care and individual attention she has received and the overall feeling of it being a home, not an institution. The staff could not have been more helpful and kind and we are very happy that we made a good choice with Ashfield. Thank you to all concerned.

I cannot comment on rooms as due to lockdown we are not allowed in. My sister and I would be delighted to be invited in and as we will be having our second vaccines in April, perhaps this can happen? I cannot answer on "Value for Money" as I have no experience other of other homes. My impression of its staff is good, well managed and extremely caring.

We find all staff are very helpful; have gone above and beyond to make our mum happy and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble. We know she is safe and given the best care she deserves; her quality of life has improved so much since she has moved to Ashfield. The staff kept us informed of everything to do with care, and we can call our mother anytime we need too.

To the best of my knowledge, I am quite pleased and satisfied with the care and support my wife is receiving at Ashfield. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I have not been able to visit my wife to go inside the care home. Only once I did visit from the outside back in November 2020 so this is just a rough idea of my experience.

I am extremely impressed with the attention to detail and thoroughness of care my mother receives. The manager demonstrates her high standards across the board and this is reflected in the day-to-day care that is given to my mother. A true testament to Ashfield is the fact that my mother stresses how happy she is and how wonderful the food is. I think sometimes she thinks she is in a hotel!

My father has been a resident at this care home for two years. Compared with other care homes we have experienced, we have always been impressed with the high level of care given, as well as the support provided to residents to remain as independent as possible. The manager and staff are professional yet approachable. The home feels cosy with an informal atmosphere. The catering is well planned and of excellent quality. The level of cleanliness is extremely impressive.

Visiting my friend over the last 6 years, she came to Ashfield while I was the leader of the women's work at our Chapel, so I took it upon myself to visit her every week. I have found the home so caring and friendly. They greeted me by my name each time. My friend has been looked after so well, always clean and tidy. The rooms are spotless and bright. They are all well fed by delicious well-balanced meals. The staff are approachable and there to listen to any problems. They contact me if they need me. Well done Ashfield.

With two changes in management this year and high levels of staff turnover, I think they have coped amazingly well at this difficult time. Congratulations to all new and old staff for your continued hard work and care at this truly trying time. This is a big thank you to all of you. Please keep up your good hard work which is very much appreciated.
