My mum has been a resident at Ashfield for around 18 months due to having dementia.
Ashfield regularly arrange activities and events that entertain, stimulate and engage the residents.
As a daughter, it makes me happy to see the level of enrichment that this home is providing for not only my mum
but other residents as well.
From all of my experience and time spent at Ashfield, I can see that they provide a caring and inclusive environment for all residents.

Staff provided very caring and considerate support for our aunt at the end of her life. She had been in the home for less than a year but staff had clearly got to know her well and treated her very much as an individual. They were respectful of her dignity at all times.

We worked so hard to keep my 97 year old mum independent. One week into her move to Cambrian Lodge we suddenly wondered why we had waited to make the move. Mum looks better in herself with regular meds, meals & company, and we can spend quality time with her rather than stressing about every day tasks.
Mum feels respected & cared for and hasn't looked back once. Why did we put this off?

My Aunt has been through every type of care possible in Lavender Court, from when she arrived as a feisty, not easy to please elderly lady, until now at the age of 95 and sadly on end of life care.
That care has been exemplary and hardly faltering (even when losing power for some time due to Storm Goretti)
I
am so thankful that she is there and so grateful to all the staff who are helping her

Unfortunately I had to put my mother who has dementia in Ashfield home, followed by my stepfather who is in and out of hospital with Parkinson's and health issues, but relived they are together, each one has there own spacious bedroom.
I am full of admiration for the kindness, attention and so much
patience from the team there.
So touched and grateful towards Nelly the manageresse that not only spends time with the patients , has a chat in Italian with my mother, and who several times went to visit in hospital my stepfather and gave a chance to have a chat and see my mother via video call with Nellys phone as my mother was so anxious beeing by herself.
Another bonus there, is the most delicious (I tried them) fresh meals cooked every day and so varied,
I find it is also an important issue.
It is so reassuring to leave my parents there as they are so well looked after.
I am very grateful , THANK YOU.
Reply from Nelly Dumitru, Manager at AshfieldThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review.
We understand how difficult this transition can be, so it means a great deal to know you feel reassured and that your parents are comfortable and well cared for together. Your lovely words about our team are truly appreciated, and I'm personally very touched by your mention.
We're also delighted you and your parents enjoy the meals, as we know how important this is to wellbeing.
Thank you again for your trust-it is a privilege to care for your parents.

My beautiful mum lived at Ashfields for over four years and she was so very happy there. She made wonderful friends but also she loved the staff and they loved her in equal measure. Mum had several conditions including dementia and gradually her health deteriorated. Nothing was too much trouble for
Ashfields so once we knew mum was coming to end of life care it was an easy decision to keep her at Ashfields where she was loved rather than ending her days in hospital. My sincere and deepest thanks go to all the staff at Ashfields for the love and care they gave not only to mum but also towards myself and other family members. Mum "Lizzie" thought the world of all of you. X

Care and support for residents is second to none. I understand that with the amount of resident's things get misplaced/lost but expensive items such as glasses, and more personally teeth, need to be looked after more, as they are expensive to replace. Clothing needs to be put in the correct resident's
rooms. This has improved but still occurs. An area where family can sit with residence would be appreciated. The addition of the Activities Coordinator is a major plus. The residents need to be stimulated as much as possible.
Reply from Amy Stokes, Manager at MichaelstoweThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you feel the care and support provided is second to none and that the addition of our Activities Coordinator has been such a positive for residents.
We also appreciate your comments regarding personal belongings and clothing, and we continue to remind the team of the importance of ensuring items are carefully looked after and returned correctly. For families wishing to spend quiet time together, we do have quieter spaces available in our conservatory and upstairs areas.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback and support.

Great so see a new Activity Lead in the home, hopefully see a more engaged resident lounge as a result. Ideally would like to see more of management team - giving correct laundry back has improved but still room for more improvement. Would be great if a visitor space was made available rather than bedroom
or public areas - since quiet room made into manager office, have either stood in lounge or sat on floor (staff were using conservatory for their break (would have mentioned this in meet with manager but have not managed to make a session)
Reply from Amy Stokes, Manager at MichaelstoweThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear your positive comments about our new Activities Lead and the engagement of residents within the home.
We also appreciate your feedback regarding laundry and visiting spaces, and we continue to work with the team to ensure ongoing improvements in these areas. For families wishing to spend quieter time together, the conservatory and other areas of the home are available, and our management team are always happy to speak with relatives and welcome the opportunity to meet whenever convenient.

Our Auntie has been in Ashley House for nearly a year now. She has mild dementia and is 96 years old. After her husband died, she spent some very lonely years. Although she was having 2 visits a day by family members, the days were long and boring! Since she has been in Ashley House, she is a different
person! The stimulation from the daily activities has really perked her up. Always happy and smiling, has put on weight due to the lovely meals, and has made some good friends with residents and staff. Her room is always clean and tidy, although she likes to spend most of her day socialising in the lovely conservatory. With only 22 residents, she gets so much care. The staff are always so welcoming when we visit. Clare, the manager, is very devoted to making Ashley House more like a home from home, rather than a regimental care home with no personality. I can't recommend this lovely, cosy, HOME enough.
Reply from Clare Burns, Manager at Ashley HouseWow! Thank you so much for such a lovely review, I am so glad that you and the family are happy with the home and the care that your auntie receives. I will be sure to pass this onto all the staff.

My Auntie was resident at Ashfield for more than three years until her recent passing. She was always treated with care and respect and settled in to the gentle life there. There are daily activities or entertainment organised to keep residents mentally stimulated. Her room was small but certainly
adequate. She loved no longer having to cook and clean!
The staff have also been very caring and helpful towards me at this time.
I would certainly recommend Ashfield to anyone looking for a care home for their relative.

Generally I think the care provided to my mother at Beechmount is very good. She is in the advanced stages of dementia and her health and cognition are now very poor. She is kept warm and the staff get her up in the morning and put her in her chair. Unfortunately, she is past the stage of being able
to benefit from joining the other residents but she does spend a lot of hours alone in her room although I don't think that she'd probably benefit from more time being spent with her as she doesn't seem to recognise anyone and has no meaningful speech. It's difficult to know whether more interaction would be of any use. Sometimes she and her surroundings (her chair, the carpet) seem a bit messy and grubby but again this is tricky for the staff to manage given her lack of cognition and control.

I have been visiting my mum at Beechmount Care Home since her admission over 18 months ago.
She has received excellent personal care in my experience and has settled in well. I was pleased when a down stairs bedroom became available which appropriately meets her needs. She has expressed feeling safe
and comfortable living at the home and no longer feels lonely.
Mum enjoys her food which is home cooked and with choice. There are always snacks and hot drinks available.
Improvements are in progress both regarding interior decorating and the garden area.
The staff are helpful and attentive and there is good staff retention which provides better continuity of care and a friendly family atmosphere. I always feel able to share any concerns and receive good communication by phone or email.
There are activities and entertainment for the residents and visitors are welcome to participate.
