Cambrian Lodge is a residential home located in the heart of Portishead in the county of North Somerset. The elegant Victorian building was originally built for the Wills tobacco family and is just a stone’s throw away from Portishead seafront.

There is a highly qualified and passionate team providing care 24-hours a day assisting with all everyday tasks required. Each individual has a person-centred and individualised care plan allowing flexibility and choice.

Cambrian Lodge is able to accommodate those requiring residential care and care for those who are living with dementia. Offering both permanent placements and shorter respite breaks it enables the flexibility suited to you. Shorter respite breaks are ideal for when families go away on holiday or you may just need some TLC. This is also a great way of sampling life at Cambrian Lodge as the decision to move into a care home can quite often feel quite daunting, so this allows a non-rushed approached to making such a big decision.

All bedrooms are fully furnished and come complete with a television, many of the bedrooms also offer en-suite facilities. There are plenty of spacious homely communal areas in the home along with a beautiful garden.

Cambrian Lodge understands that mealtimes are important, which is why the chef has a nutritious and varied menu to suit all tastes and nutritional requirements. Menu choices are discussed with all residents and the chef will speak with all new residents to ensure the food is satisfactory.

Activities are a key element to life at Cambrian Lodge, there is a varied activity programme to suit all personalities and preferences. Activities range in all shapes and sizes consisting of larger group activity, one on one activity, smaller group sessions, live external entertainment and larger events like the annual summer fete.

My husband has a very pleasant room on the lower ground floor. From the beginning of his stay, the staff were always caring and pleasant at all times. They are very patient and understanding. My husband is always bodily clean. Whenever I visit, I am offered a cup of coffee or tea, depending on the time
of day. The same applies to family and friends. We are made to feel welcome, and my queries always answered.

The home is very efficient and well run. Nothing is too much trouble.
My dad who has dementia refers to Cambrian Lodge as a hotel.
The staff are very polite and helpful.

My father spent the last two months of his life at Cambrian Lodge. It was a relief to know that Dad was safe and well cared for as he became increasingly frail. The staff are all professional, friendly, and caring. They kept us informed of Dad's health and treated him with dignity to the end. Cambrian

My mother is lucky enough to have a beautiful room at Cambrian Lodge. The room is newly painted, curtains washed and deep cleaned, new shelves put up on request, mum's pictures put up where she asked. A wonderful, loving, personal greeting from all the staff and a great cup of tea on arrival. Mum loves
her room and is feeling settled. Her meals and requirements all taken note of. Personally, she feels safe. All visitors say the same thing when they exit the building - you don't want to leave. I feel that way. It is a home not a facility. Everyone is so kind - lucky mum to be there.

For four years my mother has resided here and we are all very happy with her care. The building is old-fashioned but comfortable and the caring staff attentive and friendly. This was the only care-home that asked us about mother and her interests before we signed up. Others spoke of money very early

The activities and entertainment are great at Cambrian Lodge. The activities are engaging and entertaining, from crosswords, quizzes, bell ringing or arts and crafts, there's always a full activity schedule that's enjoyed by all. There seems to be a personalised approach to ensure there's something
for everyone and this along with the regular movement and exercise sessions create a really fun atmosphere. Also the events such as the summer fayre are well organised and enjoyed by all the residents. Not only is the care and support here great but the activities are fantastic.

My father has been treated with the upmost kindness and respect by all at Cambrian Lodge. He was recognised and known as a person and encouraged by all. Especially as his health declined, he was given more 1-1 time on top of a busy schedule - time was made to hold his hand and be there for him. Not
having to move him and being cared for in a familiar place where he was known and cared for was a huge comfort to both him and the family. We were supported every step of the way.
We cannot recommend the manager and the whole team more. They showed care, compassion and respect at all stages and supported Dad and us to the very end going above and beyond. A well-run home which felt like a home for Dad and a welcoming place for us. Professionally kind. Thank you all - we are so grateful for your care and kindness and wish you all well- what an amazing group of people you are. We really appreciate and thank you for all you do for both the residents in your care and the families.

I visited a family friend at Cambrian Lodge earlier this month. It was my first time visiting him at this home as he has only been there for just over a month but I was delighted to see how quickly he had settled in he has already built up quite a rapport with the staff who were very friendly and accommodating
to me during my visit.
He spoke at length about how he was enjoying it and specifically about how comfortable his bed was which was great to hear. He also spoke about the camaraderie between fellow residents and how he was taking up new hobbies since moving in.
It was reassuring to see him so happy and settled and I would like to thank everyone at Cambrian Lodge for looking after him so well.

Access to the care home controlled and generally answered fairly quick time not kept waiting too long. After signing register access to visit is good. Staff and management always seem to have smiles and pleased to welcome you.
Ground floor room is suitable for Mum's needs unfortunately does not attend
activities as she is quite frail.
Carers managed to wash/dress Mum and moved into lounge for birthday treats which was helpful and visitors accommodated. Very nice day. Regular staff always helpful and smiling.
Choice of food good and nicely cooked and prepared. She eats well.

From the moment my son and I walked into the building I felt hope not knowing what to expect. We were met by the manager who put all my worries regarding my wife's care to rest. The home and staff could not have been nicer. I have been married to my wife for 65 years, yes I miss her but it gives me

This care home has a wonderful aura of care, calmness and family - it is always difficult experiencing a loved one entering a care home but the manager and her excellent team make that transition as good as it possibly can be. The staff are always happy, smiling and attentive treating everyone with
love, affection and dignity. I came away from visiting Mum today with an easier conscience that she is in very good hands and everyone makes us so welcome whenever we visit. Keep up the fantastic work.

This caring attitude of all staff and the manager at Cambrian Lodge is, in my opinion, outstanding.
It's always easy to communicate with the staff and the responses are always friendly and most important, very helpful.
These busy staffs don't simply respond to needs but continually engage with residents
and the result is a palpable feeling of 'home'.
An excellent example of what a care home should be and I'm so glad my friend is being cared for at Cambrian Lodge.

Very comfortable place. Very friendly staff, very helpful and find. Lots of cups of tea - too many biscuits. Nice lounge and chairs. Views of gardens - needs work.
Maters are dealt with by management quickly.
I feel safe and settled in here and made lots of friends.

My father moved in December for respite and needs more care so he has stayed - permanent residence now. The manager was amazing at getting him in and settled. She and the staff are amazing, go the extra mile, always smiling. Helpful and available. The manager has made many positive changes to Cambrian
Lodge, activities, etc. So relieved Dad is happy, settled, and safe! Thank you.

This may be adequate as a `care home` for elderly people but it is most definitely not! a care home for our loved ones who are living with dementia. The majority of staff (excluding the deputy manager) were compassionate and mindful of the resident's needs but lack the understanding and training of
even the basics of caring for an individual who has Dementia.

I visited recently on behalf of my mum to view for a possible room here. The new manager at Cambrian Lodge was amazing, could not have been more knowledgeable or helpful. I chatted to staff who all seemed friendly and helpful. The home was warm, clean and well equipped.

My mother went into Cambrian Lodge Care Home to give me a break from caring, she took a few days to settle in but is now very happy there. The staff are all very nice, very caring and professional. The home is clean and bright and the rooms are well-furnished and homely. The lounge and dining room are
bright and overlooks the garden which had many spring flowers in it when she arrived. Mum gets her hair done every week and I am very grateful for the kindness and care they give my mother, it's comforting to know she is well looked after.

My mother was always treated with dignity and respect during the ten months she spent in Cambrian Lodge Care Home. The staff were kind and caring at the same time as respecting her independence. Mum was always able to get any medical care she needed and it was nice to know there was a hairdresser and
podiatrist available to residents. My mum spent her final days in the care home and we could not have wished for better care and support.
