My mother went into Cambrian Lodge Care Home to give me a break from caring, she took a few days to settle in but is now very happy there. The staff are all very nice, very caring and professional. The home is clean and bright and the rooms are well-furnished and homely. The lounge and dining room are
bright and overlooks the garden which had many spring flowers in it when she arrived. Mum gets her hair done every week and I am very grateful for the kindness and care they give my mother, it's comforting to know she is well looked after.

My mother was always treated with dignity and respect during the ten months she spent in Cambrian Lodge Care Home. The staff were kind and caring at the same time as respecting her independence. Mum was always able to get any medical care she needed and it was nice to know there was a hairdresser and
podiatrist available to residents. My mum spent her final days in the care home and we could not have wished for better care and support.

Mum is always happy, looks healthy, clean, her nails always look clean and polished, she has her hair cut regularly. She says that she always enjoys her meals and the team have advised us that they have put her on mashed food as she finds it hard to swallow. When and if there are problems the teams
always contact us. We are very happy with the care Mum gets.

The staff are so caring and helpful.
They take really good care of Mum, which gives us a lot of comfort to know she is ok, especially when we haven't been able to visit.

Highly recommend this home. Both parents residents here (Father - three years then Mother for - five years) - both love it here. Staff are always very welcoming. Management have built up a great team of dedicated and caring staff - many have worked here for several years. Care throughout Covid-19 pandemic
has been excellent and slightly over-cautious (as it should be).

The care given to my mum has been brilliant. The staff are welcoming, friendly and always available to help with whatever is asked of them. My mum settled in very quickly and can’t speak highly enough of the care she is given. She was allowed to have her own furniture in her room which she is delighted
about. My mum is very happy which means I am very happy. I would recommend Cambrian Lodge without hesitation.
Just a final comment. In my opinion I think the way they have dealt with the COVID-19 situation has been excellent. After calls to the residents families for feedback they ‘locked down’ early and kept their residents safe from the situation unfolding outside of their home. They have done an amazing job (and still are) in extremely difficult circumstances. A testament to the love and care all the staff feel and show to the residents.

My mum is 98 years young and has been a resident for nearly two years now. I am always impressed by how patient, calm and caring your staff team are. Mum always tells me that everyone is very kind to her and she feels safe. Whenever I visit I’m made to feel welcome and a member of staff often takes
the time to have a good chat with me. If they have any concerns I am contacted by phone and they do not hesitate to call a GP to visit mum or give advice. A few months ago, when mum became suddenly very poorly, the staff were so supportive of me and my family as we came in and out to visit every day. They were genuinely upset to see mum so unwell and equally as delighted as us when she made a good recovery. Thank you everyone.

My friend has been at Cambrian Lodge for about 3 years, he is 97 years old. The staff who look after him daily are very kind and caring as well as being very friendly and welcoming to family and friends visiting. I am the only visitor on a regular basis that visits and they keep me informed on my friend's
needs and progress regularly so I am happy with his care and that he is close by.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.470)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.470) out of 10 for Cambrian Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.545 for Cambrian Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (160 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 209 Ratings = 4.545
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cambrian Lodge is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2025

Meet Marie – a woman who's turned three decades of caring into an art form.

With over 30 years in health and social care, I've had the incredible privilege of supporting people across the spectrum – from elderly residents to adults with learning disabilities. But it's the past 11 years as a home manager, particularly specialising in dementia care, where I've really found my stride.

My qualifications include a Level 5 diploma in leadership and management, but honestly, some of my most valuable education has come from the residents and families I've worked with over the years. Every day teaches me something new.

When I'm not at Cambrian Lodge, I'm very much a family-focused person. You'll often find me in the kitchen creating celebration cakes (it's become quite the hobby!), planning our next travel adventure, or curled up somewhere quiet with a really good book.

I believe that care is about seeing the person behind the need – understanding their story, their preferences, and what makes them feel truly at home. That's what we strive for every single day at Cambrian Lodge.
