Ashley House Care Home is situated in the small town of Langport, a civil parish of Somerset. The attractive home dates back to Victorian times and is at the end of a quiet, beautiful tree-lined avenue.

The skilled and dedicated care team provide care 24 hours a day from a tailored and person-centred approach, allowing for flexibility and choice for each individual. The teams are on hand to assist with all everyday tasks required and would describe Ashley House as a ‘home from home’.

Ashley House offers both permanent placements and shorter respite breaks providing flexibility suitable to each individual’s situation. A shorter respite break is ideal for if family members are going on holiday or if you just require some TLC. Understanding that moving into a care home can be a daunting thought, respite is a great way to sample Ashley House prior to making any final decisions.

All bedrooms are fully furnished inclusive of a television, and many of the bedrooms also have en-suite facilities. Very attentive staff. Excellent and varied activities, twice every day. My aunt is very happy there and we'll cared for. Any problems and the staff keep the rest of the family informed. Excellent room and good views.

Ashley House accommodated my husband for 2 weeks' Respite Care. His room was large,overlooking the garden and always clean. The staff at all levels always consider the needs of the residents and the lounge, Conservatory and corridors are kept clean and tidy. Various activities are organised on a
daily basis and residents are encouraged to take part. Wherever you are in the Care Home there is always some kind of music which is greatly enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
I cannot thank the staff enough for this respite care which has enabled me to recharge my batteries and look forward to having my husband home again.

My mother was a resident for about 18 months, a respite user several times previously and said many times that she was very comfortable and happy during her residence. I was very impressed with clean, tidy, bright, peaceful and welcoming atmosphere at Ashley House and mum's room was very pleasant, well
laid out and relaxing with good quality furniture. I found the staff extremely helpful, always very willing to assist me with telephone and video calls to mum and to inform me about mum's health. I was particularly impressed with how the staff ensured they knew mum, understood her needs and behaviour and intergrated her into the "family" of staff and other residents. Also impressive was the frequent entertainment and stimulation provided to the residents. I believe mum was very well looked after and she never indicated to me, despite my many queries to her about her accommodation, care and meals, that she had any negative view at all. I have the highest repect for Ashley House and Staff.

My Mother has been at the home for over 2 years after leaving a previous care home.
The home has various private rooms which are roomy and clean, my mums room also has a toilet room, not quite on suite, but in an another room.
The home has two main seating areas for the residents, one of which goes
out into the garden, I'm not sure how often this is used, but it is for the various activities, that the home puts on, of which they do send videos of, which is a nice touch, the staff are always friendly and I usually get a cup of coffee, which they offer, which makes you feel welcome. The Manager also schedules coffee mornings, which I have yet to go to, but all these things add up to help with interaction with the relatives.

What impresses me most, is that Ashley House feels like a real home and has a lovely dining room, living room and a large conservatory where most activities take place. Staff and the Manager are all friendly and very helpful and keep me informed of dad's care.
Dad has been very happy and enjoys the
company of other residents and staff. Activities are really outstanding and he enjoys a varied programme of events, he particularly enjoys the music and the entertainers who come to the home and perform. It's lovely to hear him singing songs and there is a display of photos on the walls, so we can see what happy times he has had.
His most important activity is food and coffee and I am happy to say that the food is extremely good and he is supplied with endless coffee and biscuits.
A big thank you to the Manager and staff for taking good care of dad and I appreciate all you do,

Ashley House is brilliant. All the staff are lovely and cannot do enough for the residents.
Mum had had a few falls and needed more permanent care, her motivation was low and her mood was lower, she kept saying she wanted to die. She went into Ashley House and has completely changed, she is now very
happy, enjoying all the crafts and activities and looking forward to doing things. She loves the singalongs and the animal visits and always has something new to tell me when I go in.
I cannot thank the manager and her staff enough for the transformation in her.

Mum went to stay in Ashely House for 2 weeks of respite in August. She settled in so well and enjoys the company and activities. The staff are all so lovely and nothing is too much trouble. When we visit we are made to feel very welcome and feel part of the family there. Mum is a very good cook and
really appreciates the excellent food served at Ashley House. I know she is happy, safe and secure there.

My first impressions of Ashley House were very good. It felt homely, clean and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. My grandmother was offered a beautiful room overlooking the fields. My grandmother was very happy living at Ashley House. She made friends and thoroughly enjoyed all of the
activities provided. Her favourite activities were the regular visits from the singers and karaoke. The staff were always welcoming when I visited. They were all so friendly and I could see how much they genuinely cared for my grandmother and the other residents. It truly felt like a home not just a care setting. My grandmother's cultural needs were always met, ensuring she had regular visits from the priest. I was always kept well informed if my Nan became unwell or needed anything. On the week that my grandmother passed away the staff were so supportive and compassionate. I will never forget the kindness they showed me and the dignity, care and respect they showed my grandmother.

My mother is very fortunate, and I'm very relieved, that she's in a place that cares for her and looks after her so well.
At Ashley House the staff know the residents and give them the care required. They are trained, and have a natural talent above most people, in handling the situations and behaviours
found in a care home. They also go about their very challenging work with a friendly, positive attitude.
The staff are attentive, but the manager stands out as very proactive. She 'leads from the front' and has levels of energy and enthusiasm that are impressive. She is 'on the case' and works well with her team leaders. She is also very approachable, helpful and willing to listen to ideas and observations.
At Ashley House the individual does matter. My mother is a vegetarian and they cater for her. Her room is kept clean, as are the communal areas such as the conservatory where the various events take place.
My mother is in a good place and cared for by good people.

The staff are friendly, caring and always happy to help. My father receives great care and attention. There is lots going on to entertain and enrich their lives. I am always informed of any issues. I am content that my dad is happy, safe, looked after and his needs are met at Ashley House.

Friendly, happy staff who engage well with my father-in-law. He is always smiling and in communal areas when I've been to see him, rather than isolated in his room, which he was at the previous home.
He has put on weight due to eating well, and he says the food is delicious.
The manager is very approachable,
and everyone working there seems to care, which is the most important thing.
His hair might not always be immaculate, but he is so happy and calls it home, which means so much to us.

I have found that all the staff have, over the past year or so, to be caring and accommodating towards my wife who is a resident with dementia. They have alway been very polite and welcoming when myself or other family members have arrived to visit.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Ashley

Ashley House has offered a very caring stay for Mum who has been there for the past 5 weeks. All of the staff are wonderful and genuinely care. They know her at a very individual level, have a great sense of humour and are always gentle, positive and attentive to her. The other residents are happy and
engaged in activities and each other. The food is very good and she enjoys the meals and snacks. I am very happy about the care that Mum receives and we feel very welcome when we visit.

The care my mum receives is brilliant. If there are any issues they will contact us and let us know exactly what's going on. Nothing is too much trouble. Birthdays and Christmas are hard times of the year but the staff at Ashley House makes these easier.

Mum has been in Ashley House for five months now, she has dementia and falls very frequently. Most of the staff I have found to be so caring and thoughtful, going above and beyond, even comforting us! They treat Mum as a normal adult and see past the person dementia has made her. They have patience
with her and pass the time away with a smile and a chat. We all wish Mum wouldn’t fall, staff included, but it cannot be helped it is dementia and I would never question the staff’s care. If I have raised an issue it has always been rectified promptly. Today was Mum's 89th birthday and she was thoroughly spoilt by all. Thank you for looking after her when we can’t be there. She is one special lady.

All staff are very friendly and helpful. The care home always looks clean. Would recommend. Mum's room always looks clean and has no horrible smells, which is great. Staff are very accommodating whenever we ring up. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.

My mother joined Ashley House in July and there has been a great improvement in her mood since being there. She settled in quickly which was a relief as it took her a few months to do so at the previous home (which closed).
There always seems to be something going on to entertain and stimulate the
residents which is so important for them.

Ashley House very much offers a home-from-home environment. My friend who has Alzheimer's has been a resident for 6 months prior to which she had spent 2 months in hospital and arrived in poor condition. Due to the care and attention from all of the wonderful staff, she looks much healthier and has
settled into her new home well. I feel reassured and comfortable that she is safe and content. It's lovely to see that there has been the appointment of an activities coordinator who is very energetic and creative in providing all sorts of activities and entertainment. If I had one small criticism, it would be that my friend is occasionally wearing someone else's clothes and frequently there are someone else's clothes in her wardrobe, but I understand this may be difficult to control.
