Ashley House Care Home is situated in the small town of Langport, a civil parish of Somerset. The attractive home dates back to Victorian times and is at the end of a quiet, beautiful tree-lined avenue.

The skilled and dedicated care team provide care 24 hours a day from a tailored and person-centred approach, allowing for flexibility and choice for each individual. The teams are on hand to assist with all everyday tasks required and would describe Ashley House as a ‘home from home’.

Ashley House offers both permanent placements and shorter respite breaks providing flexibility suitable to each individual’s situation. A shorter respite break is ideal for if family members are going on holiday or if you just require some TLC. Understanding that moving into a care home can be a daunting thought, respite is a great way to sample Ashley House prior to making any final decisions.

All bedrooms are fully furnished inclusive of a television, and many of the bedrooms also have en-suite facilities. My mother entered Ashley House Care Home during Lockdown. She is of sound mind but is now unable to walk. I visit her every two weeks for a couple of days and so feel I have a good up-to-date view of the home.
The change in management seems to have brought a more open and supportive atmosphere. The
care staff are friendly and very caring, nothing is too much trouble for them.
The catering staff go out of their way to accommodate her eating problems and check each day on what she can eat for lunch. The cleaning staff and maintenance are efficient and very helpful.
My mother is very content at Ashley House and above all, feels safe.

My mother-in-law always really enjoys her respite stays at Ashley House Care Home. Upon arrival, she said 'this is like a home' which I believe she meant it was welcoming and cosy. She has stayed in more modern places before but is happiest here and we have always found the staff are welcoming and friendly.
My mother-in-law enjoys the activities provided and the general environment. It may not be the classiest of homes but it is good value and my mother-in-law is happy with it, that is the most important thing!

Ashley House is situated in a very quiet road in Langport. It is a lovely large detached red brick house, with a conservatory leading into a very pleasant garden. Initially, my mother had respite care in Ashley House for a week and then later for another period of two weeks. This gentle introduction
proved ideal before becoming a full-time resident. The manager and staff have been very welcoming and friendly, and my mother has settled in very comfortably. I have noticed the calm and peaceful atmosphere in the home, which is always kept beautifully clean and tidy. My mother enjoys the activities, particularly the music and singing. The food is excellent and varied. We are welcome to visit Mum at any time. The management is very effective and has kept me informed of any issues. It is very reassuring to know that Mum is very happy and well cared for in Ashley House.

Visited Mum before Christmas, the staff were welcoming and we had a cup of coffee and a biscuit during our visit as well as a catch-up with the activities coordinator and manager. Reassured that we can visit Mum at any time and we don't need to call ahead. The home is great with Mum, able to adapt to

I am pleased to be able to say there has been a marked improvement in the general atmosphere in the home. I have been feeling the morale of the staff had been declining and it was beginning to be a much less attractive home for my mother to live in which was concerning. I believe it is very important
for the residents to be stimulated by a variety of activities on a regular basis and I understand how covid stopped all these happening. It is so good to know the home is now employing an activities assistant and already this is making a big difference. Ashley House is beginning to be bright and happy again.

When my 87-year-old mother (who was living alone) had 2 nasty falls in her home within 2 months, both resulting in time in hospital, she came to the conclusion reluctantly that she had no alternative but to look for a place where she could be looked after. She knew all the care homes in the area, as
she had visited friends over the years, and she declared Ashley House to be her favourite. I then visited Ashley House and came to the conclusion that this was indeed the right place for her. The staff were very welcoming and demonstrated a very caring and considerate ethos. The manager and her team showed attention to detail; nothing is too much trouble, and thankfully, they were able to find her a room within 2 weeks. Although Mum has found giving up her independence hard, she has settled well at Ashley House, and we are happy that she is being looked after so well. The food is first class; the location is lovely – her room overlooks the moors and the train track which she loves.

From my first visit to view the home I quickly felt this was the home I had been looking for and that my partner who has Alzheimer's would be well cared for. It was ideal for him to have respite care for 2 weeks initially before he became a full-time resident. On admission, he was made to feel very
welcome and his room was beautifully presented. The manager and her staff have all been so helpful, both before admission and since. It has been reassuring for me that there is always a member of staff available to answer any questions I may have, either on the phone or in person. Truly a home from home with a lovely warm atmosphere.

My aunt spent a month of respite care at Ashley House because she had lost a lot of weight and was rather weak. She felt nervous at first but the staff were so friendly and welcoming that she settled in well. She enjoyed eating her meals with other residents… both the food and the chatting. There is
a lovely caring atmosphere with a great family feeling. My aunt has
put on weight, is much stronger, and is looking forward to her next holiday at Ashley House.

What a gem of a find Ashley House was when we were looking to relocate my 94-year-old mother into a care home. After a spell in hospital she felt that she could no longer manage in her own home 230 miles away and wanted to move near to us. Our first impression of Ashley House was how peaceful and calm
it felt which we knew was essential and the attentive, friendly staff have helped my mother settle in beautifully. She feels safe there and is treated with respect and we are relieved that she is looked after so well. It is definitely like a home from home, clean and tidy, with meals adapted to suit individual likes and dislikes. My mother is now thriving there and has her own independence alongside the appropriate help she also needs. She can choose where she has her meals and if she wants to join in any activities. We are always welcome to visit and as a family feel supported too with excellent communication from the whole team. We are happy for anyone to contact us if they would like more information.

Ashley House is a caring home. My mother settled in quickly and was always well cared for. She lived in the home for nearly 3 years, much of it through the Covid times. The staff negotiated all the Covid procedures well and made timely decisions. The staff were happy to chat with my mother and it was
lovely for her to always have someone on hand to help and reassure. In her last few days, she was treated with great kindness and dignity allowing her to pass peacefully.

My nan moved into Ashleigh House in November 2020. Initial support, preparations and care planning were excellent, leaving me feeling reassured. When she moved in they were very accommodating with settling her into her room and making her feel at home, which was an added challenge due to her Alzheimer's.
I have continued to be impressed with all the friendly and helpful staff and the level of care and dignity my nan receives, with an ethos that staff 'work in the residents home' which is evident. Food provided is clearly an excellent, varied menu my nan enjoys. There is a varied programme of activities, which the home has adapted to her needs, she is able to choose to participate or not. The property and gardens are very smart and clean and fits with the general homely feel. I receive regular, prompt and clear communication about any issues or incidents, as well as when things are going well. Ashleigh House is everything I wanted for my nan, she has truly thrived in her new home.

My mother was well cared for at Ashley House. Her room and bathroom were always very clean. She generally looked clean in herself with nice clothes. She had a very small appetite but she enjoys her food. Her last two weeks before she died she was so comfortable. I thought the care was brilliant/ The
staff were popping in giving her drinks and making her comfortable. The staff were also extremely helpful to me and my son in her last days.

My mother has been in the care home now for two and a half months and has settled in very well. She is thrilled with her room in the original house and being able to put up her pictures and have her bits and bob's that make it her home. Mum is very much a foodie and having baked all her life has quite
high standards/expectations for food and I can report that she is extremely happy with the varied and well-prepared diet.
The staff have been wonderful, they are caring and attentive and when Mum had a medical emergency recently they acted swiftly, with compassion and kept me informed promptly. It is very reassuring to know that she is in Ashley House.

I was very impressed with Ashely House. Over the years I have visited various residents. But this is the first time I have had the experience of being a resident. The staff are friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There did not appear to be enough activities to stimulate the brain, however,

Firstly the manager and her staff are amazing and always welcoming and so caring, I felt I really needed to write and say I now have my mother in Ashley House. She joined my father at the beginning of the year. Initially, she was just going for respite but settled so well decided she would stay. At
first, she didn’t join in with activities or the entertainment but now really enjoys it especially the quizzes, singing and storytelling.
Considering how mum was living before, although fairly independently, she has a much-improved quality of life.
Mum and dad being together means they can see each other whenever they want to as it was very difficult before.
My dad is not quite so good but they have put in place extra care so he is able to stay at Ashley where he is happy.
Last, but by no means least, they arranged a beautiful tea party for mum's 90th birthday for all her friends and on the Sunday a delicious roast for all the family. The cakes were amazing cooked by the chef. Thank you.

My mother has received a very high level of care and support at Ashley House. The staff have worked hard to help her settle in, in liaising with the local GP and psychiatric nurse and crisis team, in order to find appropriate medication and care for her dementia. I can now relax knowing that she is
content and well looked after.
