Mum was allocated a temporary placement here after discharge from hospital. She has stayed longer than expected but during that time she has been well cared for by kind staff.
I wish there were more staff sometimes ut know that running a care home and recruitment can be quite difficult.

My beautiful mum lived at Ashfields for over four years and she was so very happy there. She made wonderful friends but also she loved the staff and they loved her in equal measure. Mum had several conditions including dementia and gradually her health deteriorated. Nothing was too much trouble for
Ashfields so once we knew mum was coming to end of life care it was an easy decision to keep her at Ashfields where she was loved rather than ending her days in hospital. My sincere and deepest thanks go to all the staff at Ashfields for the love and care they gave not only to mum but also towards myself and other family members. Mum "Lizzie" thought the world of all of you. X
Reply from Nelly Dumitru, Manager at AshfieldThank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt tribute to your mum, Lizzie. It was a privilege to care for her over the years, and we're so glad she felt happy, loved, and part of the Ashfields family.

Knowing that both Lizzie and your family felt supported, especially during her end-of-life care, means the world to our team. Your kind words will be shared with everyone here they will be truly touched.

Care and support for residents is second to none. I understand that with the amount of resident's things get misplaced/lost but expensive items such as glasses, and more personally teeth, need to be looked after more, as they are expensive to replace. Clothing needs to be put in the correct resident's
rooms. This has improved but still occurs. An area where family can sit with residence would be appreciated. The addition of the Activities Coordinator is a major plus. The residents need to be stimulated as much as possible.

Great so see a new Activity Lead in the home, hopefully see a more engaged resident lounge as a result. Ideally would like to see more of management team - giving correct laundry back has improved but still room for more improvement. Would be great if a visitor space was made available rather than bedroom
or public areas - since quiet room made into manager office, have either stood in lounge or sat on floor (staff were using conservatory for their break (would have mentioned this in meet with manager but have not managed to make a session)

My wife Pamela has been in Kenwyn Care Home since October, myself and family visit regularly and have found maanger and all staff very kind and helpful, they have beene excellent in their care for my wife as she has advanced dementia and is not the easiest of patients to look after, but they looked
after her well, so I've got nothing but praise for all of them.

Dad is cared for in a respectful and dignified manner by staff. Initially he was resistant to change when he first went into the home but over time, has adapted well. The carers and managers are all very welcoming and helpful. Residents are encouraged to take part in any activity provided throughout
the year. Overall we are pleased with the level of care and respect given to dad.

My Auntie was resident at Ashfield for more than three years until her recent passing. She was always treated with care and respect and settled in to the gentle life there. There are daily activities or entertainment organised to keep residents mentally stimulated. Her room was small but certainly
adequate. She loved no longer having to cook and clean!
The staff have also been very caring and helpful towards me at this time.
I would certainly recommend Ashfield to anyone looking for a care home for their relative.
Reply from Nelly Dumitru, Manager at AshfieldThank you for your kind and thoughtful review. We were honoured to care for your auntie and are pleased to know she felt settled, respected, and well supported during her time at Ashfield.

Generally I think the care provided to my mother at Beechmount is very good. She is in the advanced stages of dementia and her health and cognition are now very poor. She is kept warm and the staff get her up in the morning and put her in her chair. Unfortunately, she is past the stage of being able
to benefit from joining the other residents but she does spend a lot of hours alone in her room although I don't think that she'd probably benefit from more time being spent with her as she doesn't seem to recognise anyone and has no meaningful speech. It's difficult to know whether more interaction would be of any use. Sometimes she and her surroundings (her chair, the carpet) seem a bit messy and grubby but again this is tricky for the staff to manage given her lack of cognition and control.

I have been visiting my mum at Beechmount Care Home since her admission over 18 months ago.
She has received excellent personal care in my experience and has settled in well. I was pleased when a down stairs bedroom became available which appropriately meets her needs. She has expressed feeling safe
and comfortable living at the home and no longer feels lonely.
Mum enjoys her food which is home cooked and with choice. There are always snacks and hot drinks available.
Improvements are in progress both regarding interior decorating and the garden area.
The staff are helpful and attentive and there is good staff retention which provides better continuity of care and a friendly family atmosphere. I always feel able to share any concerns and receive good communication by phone or email.
There are activities and entertainment for the residents and visitors are welcome to participate.

Lakeview is a lovely home with an incredible team. My mother is settled here now and it's all thanks to the patient, dedicated staff. I am so grateful for the wonderful care and the warm environment they provide every day.
Finding a home is so important. My mother is happy here and the staff make a
real effort to accommodate her needs and to treat her with dignity and affection in her later years. I also love that they encourage her passion for singing, the team understands what makes her happy.
Knowing she is safe and that her medical needs are being met is a huge relief. Thank you Carole to you and your team for your patience and for going that extra mile to accommodate my mum's needs, which I know sometimes are not easy. Thank you.

My relative moved to The Firs when she was 101 years old and has been cared for with kindness throughout her 17 month stay. She had a lovely room, was pleased to be able to keep precious items of memorabilia around her, enjoyed the food and was provided with all she needed for the last months of her
life.
It was reassuring for our family to find members of staff attending her with calm consideration during her final weeks and days. We were kept closely informed about her state of health during this time and felt confident that she was receiving the best possible care.
Sincere thanks to all those at The Firs who nursed and cared for her so well, giving her peace and dignity at the end of a long life.

Christine has been treated with kindness and consideration throughout her time at The Firs. She felt looked after and cared for, her room was very comfortable. Christine enjoyed the activities, especially painting the plant pot, she also liked the food and the staff very much.
On my visits to see
Christine (my half sister) I always felt welcomed and, although busy, the staff always had time to speak and approached all the residents with professional care, dignity and good humour.
The Firs is well managed, has a happy atmosphere and the hard working staff all deserve medals for the work they do every day. Thank you all so much for looking after Christine so well.

I cannot praise the staff (and South West Care Homes overall) enough for the care that my 103 year old mother has had since she arrived in The Firs a year ago. She was self funding, but the money ran out in April this year and I applied for funding, as she was below the savings threshold. Long story
short, it has taken until 2nd week in November for them to approve the funding, and in that time no-one was actually paying for my mother's room or care in the home. You might expect that a private company like SW Care Homes, would have asked me to take my mother out of the home, but they continued to support us - helping with the funding issues, until finally they agreed to provide funding. I am so very grateful to them for seeing us through this very anxious time.
Up until recently there was just one negative - historical in nature really, and that was that the food left quite a bit to be desired. However, that issue has now been addressed, so The Firs is now gets a perfect score!
Reply from Pip Smith, Registered Manager at The FirsBless you Jane, I am glad we have managed to help with funding issues etc. We enjoy having Mum here with us and appreciate your visits and support. Many thanks for a lovely review.

My mother-in-law, who has dementia, is receiving first-class care at this home. The staff are incredibly kind, patient, and attentive - they take the time to really understand her needs and always treat her with dignity and compassion. It's clear they genuinely care about the residents and go above
and beyond to make them feel safe and supported.

Meals are freshly prepared on site and always look delicious, with plenty of variety. Although she isn't eating much these days, the team are very understanding and do everything they can to encourage her and make mealtimes pleasant.

We feel reassured knowing she's in such capable and caring hands. It's a real comfort to see her so well looked after - truly first-class care all round.

Reply from Nelly Dumitru, Manager at AshfieldThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. Our team work hard to ensure every resident is treated with dignity, compassion, and understanding, so your kind words mean a great deal to all of us.

From the moment I stepped into Michaelstowe I knew this was the place for me. It has the home from home feeling and I have felt I have joined a happy family. The management and staff who showed me round were very friendly and reassuring at a very stressful time for me. The facilities and rooms are clean
