My grandad recently moved to this care home from another home due to his needs. The staff have been absolutely brilliant making sure he is settling in ok and making it feel more like home for him. One of the team leaders has especially gone out her way to make sure he is doing ok which I appreciate.
We also went to their end of summer bash and it was absolutely brilliant and well organized it was lovely to see my grandad getting up and dancing and the other residents too. I feel like a is weight lifted off my shoulders knowing he is well looked after.

The very short time my friend was in Kenwyn I couldn't complain on the way he was cared for, especially as my friend wasn't the easiest of the patients to care for. The staff were wasn't available to give me updates and very caring toward him- even when he wasn't nice to them. I must say the manager
was always ready to assist me if I had any concerns.

18 months ago I accompanied my friend of 25 years to The Firs I had no idea of just what to expect, but we stepped into a calm peaceful homely environment and when asked about visiting times, was told 'at any-time'. A few months ago her health detereated and after a couple of spells in hospital her
mentle health also. She was frightend, confused and very sad. She is now back at home with staff and surrounding familiar to her and she's happy once again.

My mother has been in this care home for 5 weeks after a fall at home and hospital admission.
She was always adamant that she did not want to go into a care home !
The first week she was unsure, BUT these last 3 weeks she settled and is very content
All her personal needs are met
She is receiving
hot meals & snacks throughout the day
The staff are fantastic!
She is cheeky to them and can be challenging but they genuinely love her which for a family is lovely to hear

My aunt was transferred from the hospital by the NHS to Ashfield for further assessment 1st July 2025. Her welcome was warm and caring. Every member of staff did everything possible to ensure her comfort and safety. Approaching 100 and very frail, my aunt couldn't have had better treatment, which is
much appreciated by our family.
Reply from Nelly Manole, Manager at Ashfield

It was our privilege to welcome your aunt to Ashfield on the 1st of July, and we're truly pleased to hear that her arrival felt warm and supportive. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care with compassion and respect, especially for individuals as cherished and vulnerable as your aunt. Knowing that she felt safe and comfortable and that your family appreciates the care she has received means a lot to us.

I have been visiting my friend in residence alongside a mutual friend for the past 18 months. Each visit, we have seen nothing but friendliness and care from all the staff. The staff even put on a birthday lunch, including both of us plus my husband and grandchild. A delightful time for all. The Firs
is welcoming with lots of activities, books, and puzzles if residents choose. A well kept garden for use. An excellent place.

The manager and care team did everything they could to support and meet the quite specific needs of my mum at a very difficult time in her life.
We were welcomed and found everyone kind and respectful.
Issues that became a concern for my mum were dealt with openly and professionally.
If I lived in
Exmouth rather than so far away I would have liked my mum to stay.
Reply from Nelly Manole, Manager at Ashfield

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We're truly grateful that you took the time to share your experience. It was a privilege to care for your mum during such a difficult time, and we're pleased to know that you felt welcomed and supported by our team. We always aim to approach each resident's needs with compassion, dignity, and professionalism, and your words mean a great deal to all of us. Although we understand the distance made it difficult for your mum to stay longer, we're so glad we were able to support her and your family while she was with us. Wishing you and your mum all the very best.

Kenwyn

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Since late October 2024, our 94-year-old mother has been a resident at Kenwyn. Before moving there, she lived alone with the support of care workers. However, during that time, she experienced immense stress and lived in constant fear.
Now, when we visit her at Kenwyn, we see a remarkable transformation.
She is comfortable, happy, and, most importantly, free from fear. The management and staff carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, but what truly sets them apart is their warmth and kindness. Their caring and friendly approach not only reassures our mother but also provides us, her family, with peace of mind-knowing she is in safe hands.
Though the home is not new, it is consistently clean, tidy, and well-maintained. We will always be deeply grateful to Kenwyn for providing our mother with a safe and nurturing place to call home.

My Mother settled into the Fir's just like she was at home. The staff are really friendly and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms and the whole care home is kept clean and bright, making it feel welcoming when you enter the building. The staff took time to prepare my Mother's
dietary requirements as she was restricted on what she could eat. I would recommend the Fir's to anyone if you are looking for rest bite care or full time residential care.
