Kenwyn is a residential home located near the heart of Crediton in the county of Devon. Crediton boasts a thriving community and is convenient for both Dartmoor and Exmoor and is only seven miles from the City of Exeter. Kenwyn was initially a maternity hospital in the 1930s but has been sympathetically restored and extended.

There is a very passionate and dedicated care team providing 24-hours care assisting with all everyday tasks required. Each individual has a comprehensive and person-centred care plan allowing for choice and flexibility for every resident.

Kenwyn is able to offer residential care and care for those living with dementia. Permanent placements are available as well as shorter respite breaks, this would be ideal for someone who may need some TLC or maybe their family is going away on holiday. Shorter breaks also allow an individual to sample life at Kenwyn prior to making what can be quite a daunting and big decision to move into a care home.

Activities are led by the Wellbeing Coordinator and are a key factor at Kenwyn, there is a varied and interesting schedule of activities and events for the residents. Kenwyn understands that mealtimes are important therefore there is a talented chef who offers a nutritional and tasty menu meeting all different taste buds and nutritional requirements.

It's a lovely care home. They look after Mum well. Her room is very nice and the staff are all nice. She is happy there. The meals always sound nice. It's close for all the family to visit.

Kenwyn has been a great help and support at a very worrying time. My husband had a serious stroke at the beginning of 2019, he made a good recovery and his life was good quality until about October of last year when things started to deteriorate and in March 2022 he was diagnosed with vascular dementia.
In April things got a lot worse, he went completely off his legs and couldn't be managed safely at home. On the Thursday before Easter he was admitted to Kenwyn for a month, on Easter Sunday he walked and he is now at home.

My mum has been at Kenwyn since January 2021.
All of the staff deserve the highest praise. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you are always greeted with a smile when you visit. The leadership from the manager and deputy manager is exemplary. On one occasion Mum became very unwell and I am sure
that the quick thinking and response from the staff saved her life. I know Mum is safe in their hands. Kenwyn has a lovely atmosphere where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and as a valued family member.

From the outset, our first contact with the home manager when assessing Dad at home we were impressed and reassured we could call and visit whenever we wanted and made to feel very much a part of the Kenwyn family. Our dad's stay was only brief, for 5 weeks respite and recuperation but during his stay
he was extremely well looked after and regained mobility and strength. Highly recommend this home and its team.

My dad has been in Kenwyn since May 2016. In the first few years, I was not satisfied with the level of care and the standards were not what I expected. However, since the new manager came in last year (she), I rate the care and staff excellent, a massive improvement in all areas. Unforntauely, my dad
passed away recently when the new manager started. He was so kind, caring and supportive during this difficult time. He was amazing, thank you.

My mother has been at Kenwyn since March 19 with dementia. Staff noticed one morning she was not looking herself and immediately called a doctor and was discovered she had suffered a mild heart attack. Was admitted to hospital that morning and suffered two more and is now seriously ill (she is 95).
The staff's quick reaction and noticing something was not right has to be commended.
Also whilst at the hospital one of the doctors dealing with my mother commented what an excellent report/review Kenwyn had supplied when mother was taken to hospital (the "who am I" sheet which shows photo, what my mother likes to be called - her likes and dislikes and interests). Dr said was one of the most comprehensive ones she had seen and was excellent and wished more homes did one for dementia sufferers.

My dad has advanced dementia and lives on 'memory lane' at Kenwyn for the past 4 years.
First, let me praise the staff, everyone works hard and they are always happy, professional and caring. My dad is never dirty and always comfy.
The nurse in charge who has overseen Dad since he first arrived
deserves special praise. She is always available to talk to me about Dad as I know she knows him well. She is so kind and caring.
The food is fantastic, home cooked and fresh. The cleaners are wonderful too, they keep everything so clean. The activities are great too and the team are very knowledgeable. Of course, all of this comes together with a great leader.

He has over 23 years of experience in nursing, mental health and Dementia care both in the NHS and the private sector.
He also holds a level 5 diploma in health and social care leadership and management.


Danny has an open-door approach and is always happy to answer any queries, show you around the home or meet up to discuss a loved one's care needs.
