A fabulous home with really great and caring staff - Simon has a lovely time there and is very happy there - I have no worries when I leave him there for a week because I know he is very well looked after - would always take him there
And found The Red House Tavistock road Yelverton, which in all honesty im reluctant to tell you about! As I want to keep it a little Gem for myself but thats selfish lol.
On arrival we were greeted warmly by friendly staff. The home is definitely a" home from home" stunning views of the moors.
Mum was encouraged but not forced to engage in daily activities, the activities coordinator did an amazing job. food was outstanding, afternoon chocolate cake or scones and cream etc.. mum love it.
But most of all, I have to say without exception, the staff at the Red House really should be proud of themselves! They are a credit to the management team.
Many thanks to the manager of this home ...
Th red house has exceeded expectations.... it has a lovely calm and warm atmosphere.... the staff are really nice and welcoming... the building and rooms are really nice ...overall we are really please with everything and highly recommend the red house
Great experience for me. I knew he was in a safe and caring environment and when I called in to see him he was very happy.
They provide daily, suitable and fun activities and provide active encouragement to the residents to participate at their own pace and abilities.
The house is light and airy with plenty of areas for groups and, therefore, company, as well as quiet reflective corners and of course personal rooms.
The garden is lovely with fabulous views over the moors.
Visitors are warmly welcomed and not made to feel a necessary inconvenience.
In all, I cannot imagine a better environment and feel we have struck very lucky in finding The Red House.
The staff are incredibly warm and caring and I feel often go above and beyond to look after the people in their charge. You can feel the welcome as soon as you walk through the front door; it's proof that it's the people and their commitment that really make the place.
The house, is warm and welcoming and the staff go out of their way to make it feel like home.
The house is kept clean, tidy and comfortable for all (residents and visitors).
The meals look nice and not over loaded plates, colour in the vegetables and verity of choice.
I have no complaints for The Red House, only not their fault - not being able to park on the road outside the home because the neighbours complain as it's a private road. I know The Red House pay for the use of it. I have to drive to visit
my cousin as do many visitors and parking is tight.
A good selection of activities.
Other than that I have no complaints or concerns about my cousin staying with with The Red House, he is doing well there and wants to stay.
It is a lovely home with very good food.
All the staff were brilliant with Mum and looked after her very well.
Thank you all so very much.
My mother was an emergency respite placement following an awful hospital discharge. She was very unwell but right from the start all the carers and other staff have been extremely caring, kind and supportive to my mother. As time has gone on she is still not well and it has become apparent that she is unable to return home and is now a long term resident. If my sister and I have had any concerns about anything these have been addressed immediately. They have kept us in the loop and informed us immediately when my mother has been unwell and either ambulance or GP has had to be contacted.
All the residents seem happy and there is a full activity schedule. The home has animals, singers, musicians and entertainers to keep the residents entertained. The home is clean, without that smell you can experience in other care homes. Full credit here to the management and cleaning staff.
I cannot single out any one individual for recognition, as everyone is truly special.
Yes the home could do with some updating and cosmetic improvements and I understand that the new owners are looking into this. That said it doesn't distract from the overall positive experience. The Red House is then, highly recommended.
I struggle with knowing the best way to communicate with he team except when I visit. I am never quite sure what Mum has been doing on a daily basis and wondered how this could be improved.
Mum is very happy here and that is what is most important to us as a family. Thank you
Our Dad is very well cared for at The Red House. We know that he is loved by the staff who know him very well and are very tolerant in some difficult times. Dad has a lovely room that has been adapted for him and he has lots of opportunities for activities - that he is encouraged to do but only if he wants to take part. Dad is well cared for in terms of his medical needs and staff are pro-active and communicative. The Red House has an active social media page and we love seeing all the planned activities and the photos and videos on there - this is so valuable to us. The food is also wonderful. Thank you to all the team.
As soon as I walked through the front door of Red House I knew it was the right care home to choose for my friend. She is very well looked after and safe at Red House. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. My friend has special dietary needs and these needs are met with a good and varied diet. There are lots of activities throughout the week which my friend enjoys. My friend often tells me how caring the staff are and that she is happy and well looked after at Red House.
My dad has been in the Red House for over 2 years - initially as a day resident and respite and then as a full time resident. The team are all amazing. The personalised care they provide, knowing their residents, focussing their approach on the individuals needs. This care also extends to the family - they recognise how difficult it can be when a family member gets to the point of needing such a setting. The events they organise throughout the year, the meals, cakes and the choice is great. Thank you
My mum was given residency after a bad fall she was made welcome from day one and has been very well cared for the rooms are well equipped all the staff are friendly and helpful Sarah the manager always takes time to speak to all residents which is a nice touch and makes them feel at home. The rooms are very nice and well maintained as is the whole place.
Very friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door - feels like "home" straightaway. Care very good - nothing is too much trouble! Staff very friendly and obliging. Rooms very comfortable, (although mine does not get Wi-Fi and I have to go downstairs to use the internet, but I understand this will be rectified sometime in the future). Very clean and facilities very good. Various activities - no danger of getting bored.
The Red House has met all expectations without exception. It has always had a well-respected reputation, and I can confirm that my mother is very happy here.
Very happy that my father has such a beautiful room with great views, in a lovely location. Very attentive staff. The minibus is a great addition and can take him to hospital appointments. The home appears progressive, allowing my father a virtual assistant technology device in his room and a coffee making machine. All in all, we feel that during the current pandemic, the home is performing excellently.
My mum had a wonderful respite stay at The Red House. The staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They were always happy and helpful. The meals and food, in general, were delicious and cooked on the premises. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to stay here. Thank you, it was much appreciated knowing that mum was in such good hands.

Sarah has over 11 years of experience in the care sector, having developed a strong passion for supporting others through both her professional and personal life. Her care journey began while looking after her mother and grandfather at home, where she discovered a natural ability and deep commitment to making a positive difference in people’s lives.
Promoted to Registered Manager in October 2023, Sarah has continued to grow as a compassionate and dedicated leader, always putting the well-being of residents at the centre of everything she does.
She finds great satisfaction in seeing the happiness and comfort that quality care brings to residents, describing her work as a way of giving back to older generations. Sarah believes what makes The Red House truly special is its close-knit, family atmosphere, where residents and staff share a positive energy and a genuine sense of community.

Lauren has worked in the care sector for over 11 years, beginning her career at 19, working with people with learning disabilities. From the very start, she developed a strong passion for supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives and improving their overall quality of life.
Promoted to Deputy Manager in October last year, Lauren brings experience, compassion, and dedication to her role. She is committed to ensuring residents feel comfortable, respected, and well supported, while also helping to create a positive environment for the team.
Lauren is passionate about caring for people and finds real fulfilment in helping residents feel happy, comfortable, and valued in their daily lives.
She describes The Red House as having a strong family feel and a true “home away from home” atmosphere. The home is warm, cosy, and comfortable, with a relaxed, non-clinical environment that helps residents feel at ease. Lauren feels this sense of togetherness is what makes The Red House such a special place to live and work.

Helen joined The Red House in June 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience across both care and activities. Although she is a qualified Registered Manager, Helen has spent the last few years focusing on activities where her passion truly lies.
With a strong background in care, Helen has developed a deep understanding of how meaningful activities can enhance well-being, confidence, and everyday happiness. She is dedicated to creating engaging, person-centred experiences that reflect the interests and abilities of each resident.
Helen finds great joy in seeing the positive impact activities have on residents, especially the smiles, laughter, and sense of connection they bring. For her, it is incredibly rewarding to help create moments that brighten people’s day and encourage friendships within the home.
Activities include live singers, animal visits, quizzes, games, crafts, and gentle exercise sessions, all designed to support enjoyment, stimulation, and well-being. These are regularly shared on our private Facebook page so that family and friends can stay connected and see what their loved ones have been enjoying.
