The home is made up of two buildings – Silverleigh and Cedars, with Cedars formerly operating as a hotel. Dad came in for respite care which lasted 8 weeks and in that time I was delighted by the car & attention he received from the manager and the team. Silverleigh is spotlessly clean and tidy and Dad enjoyed the food.

From the first day she moved in (31/03/2025) to the day she died (21/06/2025), my mum received excellent care from every member of staff at Silverleigh Care Home. Welcomed by all, and staff tending to all her needs with care, thoughtfulness, calm, generosity of spirit, friendliness and humour. The home
was always clean, bright & cheerful. Visitors were met promptly and looked after with equal care and attention. Everyone made her time there easy, relaxed, well-catered for and gave her great respect.

Silverleigh is a first class home with first class staff. My Mum spent her last few days at Silverleigh and was looked after and cared for as though she was a member of their own family. Their skills, knowledge and professionalism is amazing and the genuine caring nature of all the staff is incredible,
they are true angels. They even cared for me with as much passion as they did for mum. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum said "We were so lucky to find such a nice place to be with such wonderful staff, and at short notice too". A car was sent to collect mum within half an hour of making our initial phone call. Thank you Silverleigh staff.

My mother was here for a year until her death in February 2025. Over that time she was treated extremely well by the lovely staff, backed up by caring management. She had dementia, but her last months were as happy as they could be, given that condition.

Amazing, wonderful, caring, talented, empathetic, generous of spirit, diligent, generous of time, cheerful.
There are not enough words to describe our adopted Silverleigh Cedars family.
Each department deserves a huge thank you for making Silverleigh so special. The menu is outstanding quality to
maintain optimum health for our loved ones.
There are no boundaries to their consideration, support and guidance making a difference not only to my Mum who is a resident but also to Dad during his own health challenges and all the way through this extremely sensitive, emotional experience.
From our very first appointment they have held our hand and reassured, continuing with regular communication
My parents celebrated 59 years of marriage and the amazing Silverleigh team made the occasion with banners and a cake and most heart warming they signed a card, wow, like I began this review there are simply not enough words to describe the most incredible Silverleigh Family Team.

Silverleigh is an excellent care home with a warm and homely atmosphere. There is a large team of hardworking staff who are well-led by the manager. They are always smiling, kind and helpful, whilst treating residents with respect and understanding their needs. The nursing team are excellent having
many years of experience. They are kind and compassionate, the residents well being is at the heart of everything they do. Meals are well presented and appetising. There are several choices for each meal served by the staff. Snacks and drinks are readily available throughout the day. There is a very encouraging activities team who manage to stimulate the residents by keeping them entertained. The residents like listening to music or to hear volunteers singing. There are also quiet rooms where you can talk to family and friends or where you can read a book. The receptionists are always pleasant and welcoming. The cheerful laundry team ensures the resident's clothes are washed and ironed and the kind housekeeping team keeps the care home very clean and tidy. The maintenance men are very helpful and available if their expertise is needed. I visit Silverleigh regularly and I am always made to feel welcome. I know my husband is safe and well cared for by the staff at Silverleigh Care Home.

My husband requires end of life care, has very advanced Alzheimer's and is bed bound. A bright cheerful room overlooking garden. Staff take time to engage with him and understand he loves his fruit juice. They take time to interact with me in all sorts of ways and provide essential updates on any aspects
of his conditions, mainly physical that concerns them.
They are considerate and caring but attempt to bring aspects of joy into both our lives.

I am full of praise for Silverleigh. The staff have all been very supportive in settling my husband in. He has been there for a few weeks now and whenever I visit I'm always struck by how friendly and smiling the staff are, from management right down to cleaners, they smile and greet me and my husband,
and I feel they make me welcome. Many different staff have shown me how they have got to know him and show respect for him and the person he was.
My husband likes to move around, he's on the go all the time. At Silverleigh this is made possible by the layout of rooms and corridors, he can go up one set of stairs, walk along, come down, wander round, and return to the beginning, feeling he has completed a journey. He's able to go out into the garden whenever he chooses, I haven't seen this in any other home.
There is a good range of activities and he is encouraged to participate.
The food seems very good, all freshly cooked on the premises.

My husband has been content and settled at Silverleigh from the very start, after three months there he is very much at home and has enjoyed visits and activities. I have been very well supported through what has been a very difficult time.
All staff are friendly, warm, and very helpful, communication
with the family is prompt, honest, and supportive. Everyone there knows the residents by name and adapts to each of the resident's needs.
My husband really enjoys his food which is of excellent quality and very well presented.
I would not hesitate to recommend Silverleigh to any family making the difficult decision to place a loved one in the home.

Nobody wants their loved one to move into a nursing home, but thankfully Silverleigh exists! Without exception, we have found that all staff treat the residents with respect and the greatest possible care and help to preserve the dignity of those they are caring for. The food is excellent and beautifully
presented. There are often interesting activities going on. I, as next of kin, am kept informed of any change in my husband's condition and also receive regular general updates. Whatever their role (e.g. laundry, housekeeping, carers, chefs, etc.) staff are always helpful and friendly as well as discrete and are obviously well-trained. I could not speak highly enough of Silverleigh.

All staff understand their individual roles whilst working as a team. Staff are plentiful and consistent. Staff treat people as unique individuals with their own set of circumstances, an ethos which is so entrenched in the home it comes naturally to the staff. Staff are caring, compassionate and joyful.
I have faith in their ability and I know I can relax and leave his care in their capable hands. Clothes are beautifully laundered and returned. The whole home is clean and well-kept. Chefs provide fresh, restaurant-style food and have bent over backwards to ensure my husband has received the food he prefers, nothing is too much trouble. The care staff are outstanding, they really care, my husband says 'they are all brilliant' and 'the boys are terrific. The nursing care has been exemplary, the nurses are knowledgeable, diligent and caring and have worked in unison with hospice to ensure my husband's end-of-life care is pain-free and comfortable. As a family we have been wholly supported through the experience, staff have become like an extended family. I am in awe and cannot thank them enough. I would recommend Silverleigh in a heartbeat.

I find Silverleigh a pleasant and welcoming place. Staff are polite, attentive, efficient and very friendly. There are a lot of activities and entertainment that the residents can enjoy.

The introduction to Silverleigh was excellent. We were reassured about staff standards and continual training. All care is focused around the individual,w which can be challenging. The home feels, as far as is possible, a welcoming and stimulating environment. The home tried to make the environment
as homely, welcoming and familiar as possible, particularly for dementia sufferers. Staff should always be fully aware of the individual needs of each resident.

My brother was admitted to Silverleigh from the hospital. He was a little apprehensive to start with but was quickly made to feel very welcome, plus secure and safe by the amazing manager and her staff.
My husband and I visit once a week. He always looks clean and tidy, thanks to the caring housekeeping
staff.
Facilities and social activities are outstanding, and the staff's understanding of dignity and respect is second to none.
My brother has settled into Silverleigh extremely well; he enjoys the company, joins in with most of the activities, and knows the staff members by name.
We are always made very welcome by the staff when we visit and thoroughly enjoy our time spent with my brother.

My father came to Silverleigh after a brief stay in hospital following a fall. My father is settled and happy at Silverleigh. He has had the opportunity to mix with many other residents and staff; he has enjoyed the days out in the minibus very much, especially when there is ice cream! We have seen
a noticeable improvement in his sociability and mobility since he arrived at Silverleigh.
The team at Silverleigh are superb and so very supportive and friendly to us and demonstrates they hold my father's care in the highest regard.
My father enjoys all the activities, especially the bands/musicians.

It is without a doubt since being at Silverleigh, Dads' mental health and mobility have actually improved. This is down to all the staff, from the top down, whose care and dedication provide all their residents with a respectful and meaningful quality of life. From the daily activities, including live
music and quizzes, all help stimulate local outings, including to the coast or to the local market. This is not to mention the good quality food with a range of choices and excellent presentation to the comfortable and clean surroundings with plenty of choices of where to sit. Dad has been welcomed with open arms since day one, quite literally, as has his family. He is happy, settled and making new friends and has the light back in his eyes, something which I thought I'd never see again. Thank you, Silverleigh, for all you have done and do; your care is outstanding.

We travelled from Surrey to visit a family friend who had been transferred to Silverleigh from the hospital. We were very impressed with the staff, in particular, who all knew our friend by name and went out of their way to help us make the most of our visit. Our friend told us the food is lovely and
there is obviously a good rapport with the staff. We visited the garden at the home, which was a pleasant surprise, a lovely space to sit and chat. Our visit certainly put our minds at rest that our friend is receiving the best care possible.

The staff have shown care, patients and understanding of my husband's needs, even through difficult times. Response to an emergency is very swift and efficient. Angelie is one of our Registered Nurses at Silverleigh and joined the Team in June 2023 after relocating from the Midlands. Before relocating to Axminster she had 19 years of experience working for the NHS for the care of the elderly specialising in cardiorespiratory, Parkinson’s, dementia and stroke care.

Julie Baker

Job Title: Housekeeper Joined: 2004

Julie is the housekeeper at Silverleigh and has worked here since 2004. Leading a team of domestic and laundry staff in ensuring the rooms and communal areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, as well as overseeing the washing, ironing and returning of residents’ clothing, bed linen and towels.


Julie’s team take great pride in what they do. And her own role is varied and diverse, where from time to time, she will take the residents out for a trip in the Silverleigh minibus. Often taking residents to appointments which can vary from the dentist to minor surgery!

Marie Umadhay

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2023

Marie joined the Team in September 2023 after relocating from the Midlands. This is her first role in a Care environment but before working at Silverleigh, she has 19 years of experience working for the NHS. Her experiences include working on an acute short stay Surgical Ward as well as being a Ward Sister for 12 of those years, and on a Surgical Ward specialising in breast surgery, urology and bowel.

Armand

Armand Hawk

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2006

Armand has worked within Care Homes since 2006 and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building and garden, assisted by Trevor and Clive, the other maintenance assistants.


Armand is also the Health and Safety representative, as well as carrying out small appliance testing and plumbing repair works in the home, assisting with the compliance of servicing and repairs of equipment and lifts, and general maintenance and safety of the home.


He has also recently undertaken a qualification in IET Wiring Regulations which enables him to carry out electrical repair works.
