The home is made up of two buildings – Silverleigh and Cedars, with Cedars formerly operating as a hotel. Staff at Silverleigh are outstanding: my elderly sister received a warm welcome and really diligent care. All residents are treated with dignity and respect. I felt very happy and reassured by their skill and warmth. Thank you so much. I can recommend Silverleigh wholeheartedly.

My grandma was taken into this care home in February 2021 and always received the best care. She sadly passed away in July 2022 but was made very comfortable when it was her time to go. I have nothing but high praise for this home.

Staff are very caring and well trained - they treat all residents as individuals with different needs. Premises - always very clean and cheerful looking. Food/drink, management, and facilities are all excellent. Couldn't ask for a better placement for my husband.

Since both my parents became residents three years ago, we have been really happy with the total love and care they received. My father died there a year ago, and he was treated with dignity and care all the time. My mother is fading, but is still encouraged to join in as best she can. The staff are
amazing with their care, commitment and love shown at challenging times.

The home has a friendly atmosphere and feels very homely. The staff are generally helpful and happy to assist. There is plenty of nostalgia in the place for the residents. There is plenty of time to be left with loved ones. The staff respect this, but there is always someone nearby if needs be. It has
been hard for the home (like many others) through Covid, and I think they've coped amazingly. Thank you.

My wife gas settled well. All the staff are most kind and considerate. The home is very professionally run while maintaining a loving, homely atmosphere. The meals appear excellent.
During Covid residents, safety has been rigidly protected.
Residents fees semm rather expensive but I cannot fault
the care.

My husband went to Silverleigh from hospital a month ago. I am delighted with all the care and attention he is receiving from all concerned with his welfare, everyone is so very kind and caring and my daughters and myself have been made very welcome, nothing you ask is too much trouble. My dad has been in Silverleigh since November 2019. I cannot speak highly enough of the care dad receives. The staff are all incredibly empathetic towards the residents. I love how daily activities keep the residents stimulated. It is such an amazing home and I feel forever grateful that dad is here.
Dementia is a harrowing journey, but with staff like the Silverleigh crew it cushions the blow.

My father has been in Silverleigh for 18 months. He is treated with great care and dignity. The staff respond to all our needs in a very caring way as we all need to be part of this dreadful disease. It is not easy but we are all treated in a caring way. I have not given excellent to staff and management
as it covers a large employment base.

I cannot believe the fantastic care my aunt has had since being a resident. She arrived in December 2016 not expected to live. She was hospitalised in January 2017 and it was touch and go. She went back to the home after a week and is now a happy healthy 96-year-old, 97 in September! She has a lovely
room, the home is always clean and welcoming, as are the staff. They are as concerned with us relatives as they are with their resident. Brilliant. A wonderful place for my aunt to spend her last years.

Although my dear Mother was only resident at Silverleigh for a very short period, it was a great relief to know she was in the care of a highly trained, efficient and proficient team, lead by the manager to whom I owe a huge debt of gratitude for attending to my mother's needs so swiftly.

I visited Silverleigh the week prior to my mother's death and were highly impressed with the efficient manner in which were shown around by someone obviously very proud of what Silverleigh had to offer. 5 Star facilities without a doubt! The meeting with the manager at the conclusion of our tour confirmed in our minds the facility was being managed by someone whose heart was well placed. If ever we came to live in the area and were in need of the best care available it would be Silverleigh Nursing Home without question.

The staff treat people as unique individuals with their own set of circumstances, an ethos which is entrenched and comes naturally to the caring, compassionate and joyful staff. The activity coordinators are exceptional people and must be ‘hand-picked’. Mum is always well turned out and clean thanks
to the marvellous housekeeping staff. Home cooked meals are laid out for sight and smell and choice, of which there is plenty. Staff are very astute at noticing if there is a change in my Mum’s condition and they act accordingly, keeping me updated where appropriate. I have great faith in their ability and I am learning to relax a little and leave her care in their capable hands. The superb management of the manager and her administration team are always thereabouts and they know the people and their visitors as well as the rest of the team do. I have no hesitation in recommending Silverleigh for their excellent care in all departments and for their support to myself and my Mum.

The staff and facilities of Silverleigh are simply outstanding. Nothing is ever too much trouble. As a visitor, you are always made welcome. Drinks and cake are always made available.

I have, over a number of years, seen a number of care homes as my own mother suffered from Alzheimer's.
I have now spent a few hours with one of your patients and would like to thank you all for the wonderful care you are giving him. What a wonderful place you run. I wish I had been able to find somewhere
for my mother like this. I was so impressed I will certainly be talking to people in my area about you I only wish you were in this area the north west of England.

Angelie Conti

Angelie is one of our Registered Nurses at Silverleigh and joined the Team in June 2023 after relocating from the Midlands. Before relocating to Axminster she had 19 years of experience working for the NHS for the care of the elderly specialising in cardiorespiratory, Parkinson’s, dementia and stroke care.

Julie

Julie Baker

Job Title: Housekeeper Joined: 2004

Julie is the housekeeper at Silverleigh and has worked here since 2004. Leading a team of domestic and laundry staff in ensuring the rooms and communal areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, as well as overseeing the washing, ironing and returning of residents’ clothing, bed linen and towels.


Julie’s team take great pride in what they do. And her own role is varied and diverse, where from time to time, she will take the residents out for a trip in the Silverleigh minibus. Often taking residents to appointments which can vary from the dentist to minor surgery!

Marie

Marie Umadhay

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2023

Marie joined the Team in September 2023 after relocating from the Midlands. This is her first role in a Care environment but before working at Silverleigh, she has 19 years of experience working for the NHS. Her experiences include working on an acute short stay Surgical Ward as well as being a Ward Sister for 12 of those years, and on a Surgical Ward specialising in breast surgery, urology and bowel.

Armand

Armand Hawk

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2006

Armand has worked within Care Homes since 2006 and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building and garden, assisted by Trevor and Clive, the other maintenance assistants.


Armand is also the Health and Safety representative, as well as carrying out small appliance testing and plumbing repair works in the home, assisting with the compliance of servicing and repairs of equipment and lifts, and general maintenance and safety of the home.


He has also recently undertaken a qualification in IET Wiring Regulations which enables him to carry out electrical repair works.
