Silverleigh Nursing Home, located in the heart of Axminster, offers compassionate care and support in a welcoming, homely environment. The home is made up of two buildings – Silverleigh and Cedars, with Cedars formerly operating as a hotel. The team at Silverleigh, many of whom have been with the home for several years, are trained to treat residents with dignity and respect, ensuring a comfortable and nurturing atmosphere.

Our family have been pleased with the way the staff at Silverleigh Nursing Home manage my husband's complex needs. He needs nursing care and because of his dementia, is unable to express himself most of the time. We are very relieved to feel that he is being well cared for by competent, experienced

I visit my wife on a regular basis, usually at lunch time, (12noon - 2pm). The care and attention given to all residents in my humble opinion is second to none. All the carers and general assistants are most helpful in aiding people who, in the most part, are totally reliant on their assistance in their
everyday needs. I am eternally grateful to know my wife is warm, safe and content in Silverleigh Care Home.

My dear dad recently moved to Silverleigh Care Home, I cannot praise the staff enough, he's settled very well. Everyone has a smile while carrying out their duties with great care and compassion. Even though it's a large building, it feels very homely, a great deal of thought has gone into the décor,
and it's spotlessly clean.


I am made to feel very welcome when visiting dad, he is even socialising with the residents -
something he's never felt able to do before. I can now relax knowing he's well cared for and happy!

As a family, we are impressed with the high standards of personal care that residents receive. The individual approach and understanding of my father is particularly evident. He is happy, settled and enjoying the company, support and entertainment given within a safe but joyful environment.
the facilities
are great and well used, the staff are greatly motivated and very caring whilst being professional and efficient.
The catering is marvellous and the place well maintained and clean.
All very much appreciated and gives us peace of mind.

Every time I visit my Mum she is well turned out, dressed smartly and obviously well looked after. The staff are very approachable and friendly in what is a demanding environment. I always get offered a drink and sometimes even a meal. Special occasions, like Birthdays, they always make a fuss of her.

Our relation has been resident at Silverleigh for 5 and a half years. We visit at least twice a month and have always been made welcome to a lovely, well run home. Staff are very on hand at all times and plenty of activities take place daily, and regular events ie. tea party, dog show, xmas party. We've
made many friends here. Our relative had been to 5 homes until we found Silveleigh and is so well settled and regards this as her home. Thank you all so much.

We chose Silverleigh for my mother who has dementia as a result of extensive research. We have not been disappointed, She is very happy and well cared for. The staff are charming and very caring. The home has a lovely atmosphere. The food and drinks are fresh, well prepared and thoughtfully chosen.
It gives us peace of mind knowing that she is safe, happy and well cared for.

My husband came here three years ago for 1 day a week day care. He settled happily and contented and I had no other reason to consider anywhere else for residential care when his condition deteriorated to the point where I could no longer keep him at home. The home is very, very well led, the staff
trained exceptionally well and the atmosphere is one of a relaxed, happy kind. I visited many other homes before making the decision to choose Silverleigh Nursing Home I have never ever regretted my choice.

My husband and I both work in the NHS and we can honestly say that Silverleigh is one of the most caring, stimulating and contented residential homes we have ever visited. Friends also with social work experience agree.
The staff are outstanding - never too busy for anyone. The whole place is run like
their home.

My husband has been a resident of Silverleigh for two and a half years. He has been very happy here from day one. His behaviour was very difficult at times, and the staff here have managed him with care, compassion and love. The activities are very varied and my husband has been involved with the swimming
sessions and outings The entertainment is also very good, involving most of the residents. I am extremely happy with the care my husband is receiving.

My wife has been in care for two and half years, having been in two other care homes before coming to Silverleigh. She was very unhappy and this was a cause of great distress for me. But all this changed at Silverleigh and she found it of great interest and became very content. As she is unable to communicate
the staff and carers do their utmost to see to her needs and she thinks the world of them, she is now happy and so am I.

Angelie

Angelie Conti

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2023

Angelie is one of our Registered Nurses at Silverleigh and joined the Team in June 2023 after relocating from the Midlands. Before relocating to Axminster she had 19 years of experience working for the NHS for the care of the elderly specialising in cardiorespiratory, Parkinson’s, dementia and stroke care.

Julie

Julie Baker

Job Title: Housekeeper Joined: 2004

Julie is the housekeeper at Silverleigh and has worked here since 2004. Leading a team of domestic and laundry staff in ensuring the rooms and communal areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, as well as overseeing the washing, ironing and returning of residents’ clothing, bed linen and towels.


Julie’s team take great pride in what they do. And her own role is varied and diverse, where from time to time, she will take the residents out for a trip in the Silverleigh minibus. Often taking residents to appointments which can vary from the dentist to minor surgery!

Marie

Marie Umadhay

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2023

Marie joined the Team in September 2023 after relocating from the Midlands. This is her first role in a Care environment but before working at Silverleigh, she has 19 years of experience working for the NHS. Her experiences include working on an acute short stay Surgical Ward as well as being a Ward Sister for 12 of those years, and on a Surgical Ward specialising in breast surgery, urology and bowel.

Armand

Armand Hawk

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2006

Armand has worked within Care Homes since 2006 and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building and garden, assisted by Trevor and Clive, the other maintenance assistants.


Armand is also the Health and Safety representative, as well as carrying out small appliance testing and plumbing repair works in the home, assisting with the compliance of servicing and repairs of equipment and lifts, and general maintenance and safety of the home.


He has also recently undertaken a qualification in IET Wiring Regulations which enables him to carry out electrical repair works.
