Hello, my name is Edmund Courtney and I am proud to be the Home Manager here at Treelands. I am deeply committed to delivering the highest standards of care and ensuring that every resident feels respected, valued, and truly at home.
My personal values centre around improving the lives of everyone living and working in care. I believe that care should be a partnership, where staff feel supported and empowered, and residents are enabled to live fulfilling, meaningful lives.
At Treelands, we ensure our residents don’t leave their lives at the front door when they join us. Instead, we focus on celebrating each person’s individuality, history, and choices —making sure they continue to live life their way.
I lead a dedicated team of professionals who share a passion for providing person-centred care tailored to each individual’s needs. We aim to promote independence, wellbeing, and a sense of community every day.
I am always happy to meet families, answer questions, and show you around our beautiful home. Whether you’re considering care for yourself or a loved one, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – I look forward to welcoming you to Treelands.
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. My parents Ives and Tony Jordan built Treelands in 1990, along with my sister Jordanna this was our family home before we opened as a care home in 1992. This coincided with me leaving school, so I worked as Care assistant here from age 16 while taking my A levels at Exeter College. I then completed my NVQ level 2 in Direct care before moving away London to attend the London College of Fashion. In 1997 I moved back home to Exeter with my boyfriend Patrick and became Assistant Manager at Treelands. Moving to present day I'm now the Finance Director and my husband is the business support manager, we have three children together.
I have been involved with Treelands since my teenage years, after growing up in the family business. I know every inch of Treelands, and you can often find me here. These days, I am the Operations Director, but you can still occasionally find me working the floor with our team. I have a grown-up daughter and two granddaughters who visit Treelands frequently. We are still the same family-run business we have always been, just bigger!
We are Ives and Tony Jordan. Back in 1989, we built Treelands as our private home, and in 1992, we opened it as a residential care home for the elderly. Our children grew up and lived with our first residents here; we really were an extended family. Tony is a builder by trade, and Treelands has been extended many times over the 33 years as we expanded our business. In 2022, we opened Treelands Atrium in the grounds of the main house. We jokingly call Tony's lockdown project! At heart, we are still very proud to be the same family-run business we were and always hope to be.
I have worked in the social care industry since I was 15, when my Aunt brought a care home in Dartmouth. Since then, I have worked my way up from a care assistant and in most areas of care, including mental health, military and learning disability. I was previously a registered manager and have worked with homes that have struggled as a crisis manager, which has given me a good insight into some of the problems the industry faces. I made a decision a couple of years ago to come out of senior management for more time with my four children and grandchildren, and am at Treelands as the Human Resource manager, supporting the management team and staff to give the best experience for your loved ones. I look forward to meeting you.
My name is Terri, and I am delighted to introduce myself as the new assistant manager here at Treelands.
I have worked in care for 20+ years, starting at the age of 13 when I cared for my Dad after he had an accident that left him tetraplegic and reliant on carers, myself and my Mum. That experience shaped my lifelong passion for supporting others. I went on to spend over a decade in domiciliary care whilst still looking after my Dad as well. I then had my children and took some time out to raise them. Three years ago, I returned to the care sector as a senior having gained my level 3 diploma in care.
I was thrilled to be offered the role of Assistant Manager here at Treelands. I’ve now started working towards my Level 5 Diploma with plans to progress to Level 7 in the future.
Please feel free to contact me at any time- I’m more than happy to be a point of call for you and your loved one. I look forward to getting to know each of you and continuing to make Treelands a warm, safe and supportive home for everyone.
