My Mum's respite was at Lorna House for two weeks, following a week in hospital after a fall. As a result of the care she has received, Mum now feels physically and mentally stronger.

It has been a pleasure to visit Lorna House, which is spotlessly clean. Every member of staff has been welcoming, happy, kind and extremely caring. The chef has prepared delicious meals and cakes, which Mum has thoroughly enjoyed. I can't thank them all enough.

Lorna House has good facilities but what differentiates it from other care homes, in my opinion, is the sense of community and caring that is fostered by the staff. This sense of community exists between residents and staff and between the staff themselves. There is a sense of genuine caring about everyone, which really does make all the difference. Plus the food seems very nice! Level of care is also excellent.

My mother has been a resident of Lorna House for nearly 2 years now. She is really happy there. The staff are what makes it such a brilliant home, nothing is too much trouble for them. Sarah organises activities every day which makes the residents feel special, there are several outside visits every month which is great as it gives the residents a change of scenery. The food is excellent, always home cooked meals from scratch.

I highly recommend Lorna House.

My sister has been in Lorna House for 18 months. I have nothing but praise for this home, it is such a happy place I can see the residents are well looked after and so much love around the place. From the owners to the rest of the staff and families are so good. When they have a do on they are so genirous with making everyone welcome, it's so lovely to visit I have got to know so many happy residents who all say they are well looked after. Thanks to all.

My mother is very happy here. She has been here for over 12 months. The staff are very friendly and caring. They organise an activity almost every day to entertain the residents. It feels like a home from home. Overall, very pleased with Lorna House and I would recommend it to anyone.

My father spent three months at Lorna house in spring 2025 - staying there under the hospice at home program as an illness progressed. We always found the management and staff to be excellent - Sympathetic, helpful and accomodating on visits and on the phone. The rooms are nice and homely and the garden and sunroom are nice places to sit with loved ones. I live overseas and knew that my father was in excellent hands - with them going the extra mile to me updated on his health and well-being. I was very happy with the choice we made for him.

Our friend was with Lorna House for 3 months until he passed away. We always found the care he received was excellent, delivered with dignity and individual to his needs. Keeping us informed of every intervention. The staff were all excellent and cared for him in sometimes difficult circumstances. They were also very caring to myself and our family.

We would not hesitate to recommend Lorna House to anyone considering residential care.

The standards of this home are truly impressive in every way. There has been a lot of work to refurbish/improve. The staff are so helpful kind and patient and ensure visitors and residents have everything they need. The cook and the decorator are an integral part of the team as well. The manager/owner? Not only runs a fantastic team but is just as good as the team. Amazing experience today thank you

I visited several times during my holiday and was always greeted with a smile from the staff. Generally, I feel my cousin has settled in well. Whilst there, an event was made extra special. My cousin received cold food one day but this has already been addressed by her husband, so hopefully now resolved.

Reply from Issac Theophilos, Director at Lorna House

Dear Pauline, thank you very much for the review. You visited us four times in total while you were on holiday. We hosted and organised a massive family reunion event for your cousin, and all your family members very much appreciated the event. The manager and chef addressed feedback on food...

My mum had a 4-week stay at Lorna House straight from hospital.
Everyone at Lorna House was very caring, friendly and kept me updated with any information about Mum. I was able to go and visit at any time and was able on two occasions to take our dog in which cheered my mum no end.
I must say again that all the staff were wonderful, I can't praise them enough.
They're all a credit to Lorna House.

All I can say is a huge thank you from mum, myself and my family.

Review from Alan L (Brother of Resident) published on 19 April 2024 Submitted via Website

My brother moved to Lorna House in October 2023 after leaving the hospital following a stroke. This was intended to be a relatively short-term placement, but it took longer than we expected for us to be able to complete a purchase of new sheltered accommodation for him. In the event, he stayed until March. The facilities at Lorna House were excellent and the staff were always so helpful and friendly. We were particularly impressed by the range of activities that were provided during his time there. Our grateful thanks to everyone at Lorna House.

My father is receiving excellent care in every way. He moved in permanently at the beginning of 2019 and the staff have been key to him settling in. The move from independent living to care is a difficult step for both residents and their families and the welcome received from Lorna House has made this step easier.

My mum went into Lorna Home three years ago. It was obviously a difficult decision for my sisters and brother to make, but we need not have worried. Our first impression of Lorna was the lovely clean smell as soon as you went in the front door! The staff are so friendly, caring and are very informative in letting you know the progress of Mum. The manager is always available to talk to. We are very happy and standards have never dropped. Thank you.
