The level of care and concern for Mums wellbeing has been exceptional.
It is so difficult to get this right, and we know our Mum is in a safe, warm, comfortable environment being cared for by lovely staff who have really got to know her, and a fantastic administration team who always pick up the phone, respond promptly to emails and follow things through.
The Covid pandemic has created extraordinary problems for care homes everywhere, and Avon Lee Lodge had done an incredible job in keeping residents safe and using an empathic common sense approach to visiting.
Cannot recommend this lovely care home highly enough.
My aunt did not suffer from dementia but many people do and the home is willing to help them.
Also the house is very comfortable and has a nice, bright conservatory for patients.
This year has been difficult with Covid but the home were extremely sensible and went into lockdown a week earlier than the national one and they managed to get through the year with not a single case of Covid. Well done!
In addition, the home have now built some pods in the garden which have a lounge and separate bedroom.
Comforting to know that Mum is safe and receiving excellent care within a home where the residents are an integral part of the warm and friendly environment. The care and administrative team clearly provide a professional and efficient service where everyone is working together to promote the health and well-being of each individual resident. During these difficult times with Covid-19, it is evident that every precaution is taken to protect Mum, and yet I have been able to visit either in the garden or in one of the garden pods, whilst adhering to the requirements stipulated quite rightly by Avon Lee Lodge.
All the staff were caring and immediately responsive. The quality of the accommodation and its care were exceptional.
Mum was extremely happy and content at Avon Lee for the final 6 months of her life. The care she received was perfect. She made friends and enjoyed the activities - all this leads me to highly recommend Avon Lee care home. I cannot fault a thing, her room was light and airy and comfortable and the staff very kind. We will all miss you.
Excellent care. The staff are caring the accommodation is great, good tasty food. No complaints.
We were very lucky to find Avon Lee Lodge for our mother's home despite it only being 6 months the care and attention she received was everything we wanted it to be. She was initially not happy but after a while, with the love and attention, she received slipped into a very happy life there. Everyone was so kind and loving to her, the food was wonderful and the choices were plenty. Entertainment was every week with singing which she loved but could just stay in her own room if she wished. Doctors and nurses were on call which made me happy. We were so lucky for mum to live in this lovely care home. She was very happy there.
My mother was treated with respect and the staff exhibited a lot of patience.
Their attitude was positive.
The food was of a good standard and appropriate to her needs.
She was very happy and everyone went above and beyond their duties. The food was wonderful and with plenty of choice. A clean home and always plenty of entertainment going on if you wanted to join in. Your wishes are always taken into consideration, that's why mum was happy and we felt relaxed.
The management and staff are efficient and friendly and all staff are always very caring towards the residents. I do feel, however, that the home would benefit from another member of staff as at times they seem overstretched. The activities coordinator is very good but on the days when she does not work, it would be so much appreciated if a member of staff (or volunteer/work experience) could spare the odd half hour to do a quiz/crossword/memory activity - especially at the weekends when it is very quiet. Nevertheless, a very good home with a happy atmosphere.
Dear Lyn, thank you for your review and the comments therein. We agree that the staff have 'seemed' overstretched and have identified the inefficiencies and lack of leadership 'on the floor' that led to this feeling. I'm sure you would agree that in the last few weeks with our new Care Team Leader...
My friend is very settled and happy at Avon Lee Lodge. She wanted a care home in the village in which she has lived for many years. She is positive about her care. Some staff are excellent. I am unable to give an informed decision on some questions because I do not know.
Overall very good - any "issues" were dealt with in a very short space of time. Staff very patient and their overall caring approach meant that my father quickly adjusted to a potentially upsetting time of his life.
I don't have to follow any rules and can get up when I like. It's not too big so not too many people. It's like a country holiday, the food is good and a nice chef.
I have been here twice now and I look forward to coming again.
It was lovely having a bath as I can't use one at home.
Mum lived at Avon Lee Lodge for three and a half years during which time her dementia and physical condition worsened. She was very well cared for in a homely atmosphere and with kindness and consideration. As I live a distance away, my visits were fortnightly but I was never concerned about the way she was treated. Everyone was friendly and as her needs became increasingly of a personal nature she was treated with dignity and respect. I was always able to call her and if she couldn't hear her phone one of the staff would make sure she answered. Balancing a business with personal care must be tricky but I believe Avon Lee have it just right. It is a small, friendly home, well-run and with considerate carers and managers.
He has dementia and is bedbound.
He has been at Avon Lee Lodge for two and a half years.
We are very happy with his care.
All the staff are very kind and caring.
My father has to have assistance with all personal care and be fed liquidised meals.
The staff are also very kind and caring with my mother who sits with him each day.
We have no complaints only thanks.
My sisters and I found Avon Lee to be the right place for our dad. we were kept informed all through dads finally days. Dad had some difficult moments and this was handled well by the staff. We would like to take a further opportunity to thank all who spent time with him and for their kindness and consideration.
