The staff are very attentive and extremely accommodating when we visit. The house is always clean and the residents are really well looked after. I can tell they take pride in ensuring the residents' well-being as often we visit unannounced and everytime my mother in law is always immaculately presented.
They go above and beyond as they often include my father in law in the activites and ensure he is kept updated when he is unable to visit himself. I am very grateful to the staff. They truly are very hard working and they truly care

Shire House is not only a beautiful elegant house, it's a warm cosy home. Everyone who lives there looks so well and happy. My mother has been in Shire House for three months, her health and mobility has improved, she is more stimulated and interested in what's going on. The food is delicious and is
not in short supply! It's very reassuring to know my mother is so well cared for. We feel very lucky.

My father started at Shire House the last week of July 25. We have found the care home staff very helpful and caring they can't do enough for you. They are very polite respectful and do their very best for all residents, they try to make everyone part of the care home family. So lucky to have found
Shire House.

The staff are friendly, professional and most importantly very caring. My Mum recently moved from a care home in Wiltshire where she was ignored, under-stimulated, and on twice the amount of co-codamol needed. In Wiltshire, she was left to be a vegetable and given no help with speech, etc. Here at Shire
House, they all do their utmost to help and stimulate, my Mum is ferally happy!

Shire House is a very welcoming residential home, from the moment one of the smiling members of staff opens the door, immediately makes you feel at home. The staff, without exception, are kind, caring, and thoughtful, often going above and beyond for both residents and their families. It is so reassuring
to know that all aspects of Mum's care are in the hands of such an excellent, hard-working team.
Thank you.

Excellent standard of care! I have had to go into many nursing/residential care homes as part of my role and can say this place is the best of the best. The carers are exceptionally skilled, knowledgeable, attentive, and caring. The home is exceptionally managed resulting in happy staff and residents.
The medical management of the residents is proactive and of an exemplary standard. There are also involving and engaging activities for the residents. As a relative, you really can concentrate on being able to interact with loved ones on a personal level as all other care needs are looked after to an excellent level by the home.

I cannot fault the care my grandad receives at Shire House, it has a warm and friendly atmosphere and it certainly is a home away home. Shire House is always clean and tidy and there is always tea and biscuits. The staff are always more than happy to answer any questions you may have, nothing is ever
too much trouble. The residents receive fun and fulfilling activities that always put a smile on their faces.

The care for my grandad is outstanding. The time and patience each member of staff takes every day to make sure he is clean, tidy and comfortable and nothing is too much trouble. They all greet you with a warm welcome and offer cups of tea and biscuits. The activities coordinator is always thinking
of new fun ideas to keep everyone entertained. Hats off to the staff who put together their first summer garden party where all the family could attend and fun had by all.

The staff and carers are very friendly and treat my aunt and residents with dignity, efficiency and affection. They are all available for consultation/queries and are very accessible. As a family member, I am welcome and can visit as long as I need. I know my aunt is well cared for, entertained and
given appropriate medication to make her life easier, pain-free and less anxious. The meals/snacks are nutritious and yummy.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.820)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.820) out of 10 for Shire House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.820 for Shire House is calculated as follows: ( (311 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 366 Ratings = 4.82
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shire House is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
