Shire House

Since moving here I have settled in well. The staff are friendly and responsive to my needs. The home is situated in a nice area and the garden is lovely to sit out in. My visitors are always welcome.

The staff pay attention to the small things that make a real difference to residents' quality of life; whether it's making sure they are properly dressed, sitting comfortably in the most appropriate chair or getting to eat their favourite food. The home also has a wonderful activities organiser who goes above and beyond to get everyone joining in and entertained. As a result, it is generally a happy place to visit, and I feel confident that my mother is well looked after.

My dad has lived at Shire House for over four years and has always been treated more like a family member than a paying service user, with genuine affection and connection. I am also made to feel welcome on visits to my Dad. The staff have always been attentive to Dad's needs when he been experiencing health and other difficulties. I have peace of mind knowing my Dad is happy and well looked after, and would confidently recommend Shire House to others.

The care at Shire House is second to none. All the staff are amazing, they care for my Dad who has dementia like he was a member of their own family. They are kind, friendly and always welcome you with a smile, nothing is too much trouble. The staff always keep me well informed if Dad is feeling out of sorts. He is always well-dressed, impeccably clean and well-shaved. The activities coordinator is always going above and beyond to produce well-structured activities for the residents and going that extra mile to make sure all the residents are comfortable and having a great time. I feel very fortunate to have found such a home as Shire House and feel confident my Dad is having the best care.

The care my husband gets at Shire House is excellent. The staff are very good with my husband who is non-verbal. They know what his needs are, this is due to them being able to understand his needs, which is not easy. They treat their residents as they would be treated in their own home, which is excellently run by their manager.

Everyone is lovely.

My mother in law has had good consistent care. She receives kindness and consideration for her needs and her opinion and choice is always heard. I would consider the menu is varied and always looks appetising. The home is kept very clean and tidy and visitors are always welcomed with a smile.

Always a good experience on visiting. All the staff seem kind and helpful.

Everyone should be paid more!

My mother is given nutritious meals, her room is warm, cosy and aired, and all of her care needs are met. The home is well managed.

My mother has been living in Shire House for 3 years and I am speechless as to the care she receives. The staff are amazing, the atmosphere in the house is like a glorious family. We are always made to feel welcome and the siblings are safe in the knowledge that mother is respected and her welfare paramount to th house. Bravo.

My mother was a resident at Shire House for the last six months of her life. The time came when she couldn't cope on her own any longer - just one visit was enough to know that this was a safe, caring home. It felt as near to being in your own home as possible. There was never any hint of care home smells, always the pleasant aroma of home cooking. My mother had a room that we were able to make her own and a small patio area where she could enjoy flowers and watch the birds. There was full access to the rest of the house, which she was able to enjoy. The owner, manager and staff were great, worked together and had a can-do attitude. No one really wants a relative to have to go into a care home, but I can honestly say that I'm so glad that we found Shire House for Mum as it gave her company, safety and loving care for the last six months of her life that enabled us as a family to enjoy visiting her several times a week knowing that in between visits she was safe and lovingly cared for.

Shire House is a well-run care home with professional, thoughtful and cheerful staff who care about what they do and who look after my mother very well. It is clean and tidy. My mother could not have better.

I have been visiting my friend once a week at Shire House for almost a year. I have been very impressed by the care that my friend receives, the friendly and caring staff and the efficient, accommodating management. The atmosphere in the house is warm and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for the hard-working carers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shire House to anyone.

We would not hesitate to recommend Shire House. We have it in mind for ourselves when we have a need.

We chose Shire House because we were looking for a small friendly home for my Aunt. After nearly 10 years of care, it's her home and the dedicated team are her family. With their care and the range of activities, we saw an immediate improvement in my Aunt's health and wellbeing. As things have become more difficult for her they have continued to support her, encourage and respect her independence. I do not live in the area and nearby family cannot visit as they once did. Having a care home that we can trust and can rely on is essential.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all the care staff for the wonderful care and dignity given to our aunt, we could not have found a better home to end her days. The care in our opinion was second to none also the respect shown to us.

My mum's room is immaculate, activities keep her stimulated. Food is very good. Cleanliness superb and staff faultless and kind.

From the first enquiry to hospital assessments, transferred to Shire House was exceptional, fast and efficient. Staff were very helpful form the start. My father settled very quickly with the kind help and continuous care from the staff. He was made to feel safe and secure and comfortable. I enjoyed a Christmas lunch with him. Other residents and families. I thank the staff.
