They are so good. 'Home from home'. Can't do enough for me day and night, great care. Wonderful, lovely staff. I have been to two care homes.
Thank you so much for your really nice review. Your feedback means a lot to us all.
Lovely, caring and friendly staff. Very attentive to all residents.
Thank you for your kind review, we will ensure that staff are aware of your comments.
I can't rate this care home too highly. Nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are amazing and so kind.
Thank you for your kind review, it's our pleasure to care for your sister.
My relative moved into Oakhaven 6 months ago with advanced dementia but otherwise good physical health. The staff have been kind, caring and attentive with an excellent eye for life-improving details. We know that sight and especially hearing can be central to dementia patients wellbeing and so staff pay particular attention to hearing aids and spectacles. But we feel fortunate to be able to visit at any time (we have a base nearby) and we all enjoy the meals, the humour of the staff and sometimes some joint activities.
Mum spent the last ten months of her life at Oakhaven and celebrated her 100th birthday there. She received champagne, a cake and a book celebrating her years. I cannot rate the staff at Oakhaven too highly. Residents get regular one-to-ones with staff and it is clear that it is not just a job that they are doing, it is done with real love for the individual. It was very special that they went to lengths to find out what Mum liked, she loved her daily bath! I know she enjoyed the trips out in the minibus. Mum didn't want to move from her own home and even though Mum's lack of memory led to confusion about where she was and why she was there, she often told me, “It’s like a five-star hotel. I am looked after very well and I have nothing to complain about”. The staff were constantly reassuring to her. I was always made welcome whenever I visited and I was able to talk to staff when it was necessary. I'll always be grateful for the care and love that Mum received at Oakhaven.
I really enjoy the food here which is very well prepared. I also enjoy the facilities. I have a very comfy bedroom here. My bed is really comfortable. We also do lots of activities. At the moment I'm doing drawing and colouring in which I really enjoy. The other day we went on a boat trip on the river Severn which was a very enjoyable experience. We were all allowed to have a go at steering the boat - very enjoyable experience.
Thank you for your really nice review. It's heartwarming to hear that you had such an enjoyable stay with us!
From the moment we first telephoned Oakhaven their help and support has been wonderful. They welcomed Mum on her discharge from hospital following a nasty fall, and cared for her as she recovered. They helped Mum settle in and reassured us every day that she was alright and comfortable. Mum has been at Oakhaven for 8 months now, is very happy in her delightful room, enjoys going to the lounge when she feels up to it, and she appreciates all the help and care that the lovely staff give her. Oakhaven has a warm, friendly atmosphere. All the staff are cheerful and professional and they give us every confidence that Mum is being cared for to the very highest of standards. We cannot praise them highly enough. Mum living in Oakhaven gives us peace of mind and we feel welcome every time we visit.
Wow! What a great review! We're really pleased to hear how happy you are with how we look after Mum.
Oakhaven Residential Care Home was the best decision regarding mum’s welfare we could have made. The staff went to great lengths to learn about her, her interests, and what would help her transition from home to residential care. She blossomed with all the attention, good food and companionship. Mum felt looked after and secure. She loved petting the dogs that came in, having tea in the garden and her room furnished with items from home. The care and attention never wavered. I would turn up at odd times and find her having tea in her room with the carers, laughing and giggling. Or staff from the kitchen discussing her menu choices, and tempting her with various dishes when she was reluctant to eat. I was kept informed at every turn when she was unwell or had had a fall. She made many new friends among staff and residents alike - she was never a number or ‘another old lady.’ Mum passed recently and the care, compassion, and professionalism of every member of staff was there right to the end. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your amazing review! To acknowledge what we do like this is really nice of you.
Mum moved to Oakhaven Residential Care Home 8 months ago with some trepidation, but the staff made her so welcome and were so caring that she soon settled in. The home is small enough that everyone knows everyone else, and so it has a real family feel. As a frequent visitor, I felt welcomed into the Oakhaven family too. Mum loved all the activities and visits, which are laid on each day, as well as being able to go and chat with her new friends in the comfy lounge or garden. I cannot speak highly enough of the care that Mum received at the end of her life. She was treated with such love and respect, with someone always with her when I couldn't be there. The staff went out of their way to be supportive to me too - I will never forget their care and understanding. Oakhaven is a very special place. A huge thank you to all the staff.
Thank you very much for your really nice review! Mum will be very much missed.
Oakhaven is a home from home. My Father was surrounded by loving care for the last 18 months of his life. He was treated with dignity, love and respect at all times. The staff are absolutely wonderful and as his daughter I felt loved and supported by them too, nothing was too much trouble for his happiness and well being. Thank you Oakhaven.
Dad, you and your family were such s big part of our Oakhaven family and we miss you all.
My Mum was a resident at Oakhaven from August 2019. She died peacefully there at the beginning of May. The love and care that Mum received was second to none. She was treated with love and respect at all times and felt safe and secure. The staff at Oakhaven became Mum's extended family, especially during lockdown when I couldn't visit. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their professionalism, love and support for Mum and to us as a family right until the end and beyond. Oakhaven has been without a doubt the best choice of home for my Mum and we have no regrets.
Thank you for your kind and sincere words. Mum will always remain in our hearts.
The staff could not be more helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic atmosphere - always laughing and joking with residents. The food is very good and well presented.
It was a pleasure to have you with us and I'm pleased that you had what sounds like such an enjoyable stay.
I cannot praise Oakhaven Residential Care Home and the staff highly enough. The care, kindness and respect shown by each and every member of staff is outstanding. The staff is truly exceptional. There's a wide range of activities to suit all interests - and the food is fabulous. It's easy to communicate with all the staff and management are readily available. It really is a home from home for my Mum and I am delighted that she's here.
Thank you for your lovely review! We're delighted to have you and your family making up our Oakhaven family.
This is now my "happy home".
It’s great to hear that you’ve settled in so well to become one of our Oakhaven family.
Mum joined Oakhaven after a series of nasty falls due to Parkinson's, so was unable to maintain living on her own. She was at Oakhaven for 5-years, whilst it was never her home, it came a close 2nd! She enjoyed the activities with the other residents, trips out, which were very varied, afternoon at the tower, a walk around the park with of course ice cream! Picnics with sandwiches etc supplied by the wonderful chef and kitchen staff. The carers dedication at this home is outstanding, and even as a family, we felt residents, carers etc became part of our extended family, this is why Mum was happy there; its small enough to make it feel like a real home. Well done, Oakhaven, you all deserve the highest praise.
Over the past few years, you’ve been such a frequent visitor that you have become as much a part of Oakhaven as mum was. We know that mum’s passing leaves a big hole in your life and that you are keen to fill your time by volunteering for us and keeping in...
Mum recently passed away, and the care during her last days was wonderful. She was never alone; there was someone by her side at all times.
Thank you for this lovely review. Mum will be fondly remembered by all of us and everyone who came into contact with her as the funniest, sharpest and most delightful ladies one could ever wish to meet, and probably one of the oldest too! We'll never forget her. Take care.
My Mum lived at Oakhaven for several years and made some great friends whilst she was there. Whilst she was able, Mum particularly enjoyed activities at the home and external outings organised for the residents, some of which I was able to attend with her. Our family were always encouraged to participate, and I have very fond memories of a Christmas Market on the Promenade with Mum, other residents and staff. At times, she needed a great deal of care, and I was always impressed by the professionalism and kindness shown to her by all of the staff at Oakhaven. They couldn’t have done more for her.
My aunt (aged 94) went into Oakhaven in January 2020 after illness and a short spell in hospital left her unable to manage at home any longer. She had a downstairs room with a small ensuite with WC and basin. The home was very near where she used to live, so she was able to have lots of visitors, at least until lockdown. All her friends and family were so pleased to see that the staff were so kind and genuinely caring - they never made her feel that she was too much trouble, as she became less and less able to manage by herself. During lockdown, she contracted Covid-19, and the matron talked to her about what her wishes were, so there was no doubt that she didn't want to be moved to hospital. She died peacefully, and the care she received right up to the end was excellent. The staff were also always very kind and friendly to me, and kept me well informed at all times.
My mother was a resident for over 2 years and was always treated with exceptional care and kindness by all staff members. She enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities, especially the countryside trips and social events. Knowing that she was happy was a great comfort to us, as a family. I have no hesitation in recommending Oakhaven.
Thank you very much indeed for your nice review. We have many, many fond memories of Mum and we all miss her.
Our mother stayed in Oakhaven for a few months and was treated with dignity, respect and love. Her care could not have been better. We would have no hesitation in recommending Oakhaven to anyone. It is a peaceful and happy environment.
