I have been here for 4 years, no complaints.
My dear, elderly friend has been a resident of Oakhaven for several years now and I can honestly say that the Care Home improves with each passing year. The level of care and genuine interest in the complete well being of the resident is of the highest quality and professionalism. My friend has always felt respected, safe and secure in the Home and the kindness and compassion she receives from all the staff is evident. I am extremely grateful to all at Oakhaven for taking such great care of her.
Thank you very much for your kind words in recognition of a lot of work we all put in. I will make sure that this is passed on to my staff.
This was my first experience of a care home since I have been resident in one other for short breaks and experimented with a resident care one other time from home. My first choice would be Oakhaven because I feel so safe here. The activities are most interesting and varied. I am now a full-time resident and it feels so good. It is my home and I am very happy.
Thank you for your kind review. It's an absolute pleasure to have you join us again, this time for good.
My father recently enjoyed a visit to the local rugby ground for a guided tour and there are always trips and activities to take part in. This week I joined him for a roast lunch in the dining room, where everyone enjoyed the food and a glass of sherry! As it was his birthday he was presented with a gift and an amazing chocolate cake whilst his fellow residents sang happy birthday. Friends and relatives are encouraged to visit, including family pets! It is like an extended family and everyone is made very welcome.
We cannot sing enough praise for the care our mother has received. Each and every member of staff has shown respect, kindness, compassion and complete professionalism. Oakhaven is warm and inviting in every sense. There is an excellent range of activities for residents which cover a full range of interests. The food offered to residents is homemade and appetising. There is a general feeling of kindness and concern demonstrated by the staff. We could not wish for more in a care home.
Thank you very much indeed for your kind comments. It has been a pleasure for my team to see how well Mum has settled since she has been with us.
In my short stay, I have been treated like a king. Everything has been handled with care and attention and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The food is first class, always a good variety and thoroughly deserved award winners to the cook and kitchen staff. The matrons lead an exceptionally hardworking and dedicated team and provide excellent care.
Oakhaven is maintained to a very high standard with two large lounges and a separate dining area. Food is freshly prepared on a daily basis offering a varied menu. There is a wide range of daily activities taking place tailored to provide a good level of stimulation. It is an extremely pleasant place to visit and the team go out of their way to make visitors feel welcome.
What stands out is the level of care provided by the team at Oakhaven. My mum is consistently treated in a caring compassionate and professional manner and her care needs are closely monitored. Oakhaven has a close working relationship with other healthcare professionals who visit regularly so a variety of medical needs can be attended to.
In selecting a care environment my basic priorities were for her to be safe and well looked after. Oakhaven has far exceeded my expectations with this. My mum is now a real part of the Oakhaven family and I could not imagine her living anywhere else.
My stay has only been a relatively short one (Sunday - Sunday) I have no complaints whatsoever. Meals are good. My room is excellent and there is no praise high enough for any of the staff, they are kind, attentive and answered any requests immediately asked for and with good humour and a smile.
Staff very kind, have enjoyed my stay, enjoyed my food, not keen on small bed, used to a double one at home.
I have always been treated with respect and dignity and I am very pleased with the care home.
My experience since entering Oakhaven Residential Care Home has been a very happy one. I am lovingly care for yet still able to assert my independence. I feel very secure and comfortable and cared for.
All I wish to add to my feelings. It's my pleasure being looked after by the wonderful staff who meet you when you arrive and cheerfully do everything you ask of them, cups of tea appear throughout the day you are never dry. I think it is these ladies who make Oakhaven Residential Care Home the home it is.
In the six years our mother was resident at Oakhaven she was cared for in the way she wanted and whilst there was happy and content. She was a very private person and her choices not to join in many activities and to take meals in her own room were respected and catered for. She did go out on some of the trips when accompanied by my brother or me however, which Oakhaven were happy to accommodate - an example being a ride on the local steam railway line. The building is comfortable and elegant and is always carefully maintained to the highest standard, whilst the small rear garden is a delight to sit in whilst taking tea, weather allowing. All the staff, including the owners, the management, matrons, carers, cooks and building personnel are professional, genuinely caring and easy to talk to, and all of them go out of their way to treat residents with respect and to encourage their independence as much as possible. I often recommend Oakhaven to friends with elderly relatives.
Thank you for your kind review Graham. We all miss your sweet mum.
Both of my grandparents lived at Oakhaven up until they died and both received exemplary care. The residents are well looked after and the staff are fantastic, helpful, kind and considerate and I miss seeing them. The staff team are a real credit to the home. My grandfather especially enjoyed the trips out and said the food was pretty good, which is a real accolade! The building is homely and inviting with a garden that can be enjoyed by the residents. The bedrooms are all carpeted with high quality carpets and feel warm and cosy. If anyone were to ask me about a care home within Cheltenham I wouldn't think twice about recommending Oakhaven, to the point that I would tell them they shouldn't consider anywhere else.
It has been a pleasure for us to get to know you and your lovely family and we will miss you all too.
My dear friend was a resident at Oakhaven for two years. In that time she was very happy here and well looked after by all the staff. She particularly enjoyed any trips out, like trips to the theatre and on the canal boat, that the home put on. I would definitely recommend Oakhaven to anyone looking for a home to stay in, whether respite or permanent.
Mum was in Oakhaven Residential Care Home from October 2011 until she died in March 2015. Oakhaven exceeded her expectations and she never failed to praise the high standard of cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff, which were important to her. We were kept informed and any problems were dealt with efficiently and swiftly. The lively activities and trips out helped stimulate her. Oakhaven respected Mum at all times and her visitors were warmly welcomed with hospitality and spoke highly of the standard of care. Significantly the carers who met mum on her arrival were with her at the end. I will always be grateful for the realistic and sensitive approach to end of life care, which enabled Mum to have a peaceful and dignified death in familiar surroundings and with the people she loved.
In my opinion the care provided by Oakhaven is outstanding. My mother has now been here for over 3 years and has always been very happy here. She is 98 now and recently had a serious stroke. When the decision was made that nothing further could be done for her, she came back to Oakhaven for end of life care. There are no words good enough to describe how well she is being cared for here in her hours of need. From the moment she arrived back from hospital the staff have dealt with every aspect of here care with competence and professionalism, with respect for her dignity and also with so much affection for her. As relatives my sister and I have also received care and support in this most difficult time. Thank you Oakhaven!
