Abbie joined us in July 2023, having started in the care sector 20 years ago as a school-leaver and working her way through every role up to Registered Manager. She’s a passionate believer in continuing professional development and being well-informed about developments in the care sector.
She says: “The thing I love most about my job - and in particular about working with people living with dementia - is making a difference to their quality of life and, most importantly, making them smile.”
Abbie has two children and three dogs which keeps her super busy when she’s not at work, and in her leisure time she loves to read and bake.
Sophie has worked within the care sector for 13 years in a variety of care settings.
She says: “I love working as part of a team and being able to motivate others to accomplish their goals.
“Having a role where you can make a positive impact on others’ lives is just so rewarding. And every day at work I get huge satisfaction from supporting our residents in a person-centred way that ensures their independence is promoted and they are always treated as equals.”
Sophie’s interests outside of work are spending time with her family, dog walks and exploring new places.
Philip is the third generation of the White family to run the family’s care homes. He joined the family business in 2003, after taking his A-Levels, working his way up from washing dishes to his current position as operations manager.
He says: "At the heart of the care we provide is our commitment to providing a relaxed and nurturing home-from-home environment for our residents and ensuring they retain a genuine connection with their friends and families and local communities. This is what makes our homes special and our work so rewarding.”
In his spare time, Philip plays golf for Somerset and the South West of England and enjoys spending time with his wife and young family.
Bonnie is responsible for overseeing all three of our homes, supporting the managers and helping ensure overall quality, systems compliance, new care planning and supporting governance principles.
She joined us in 2023 after a decade with a specialist dementia care home in Wellington, first as clinical lead for dementia care then as deputy manager.
She says: "Working in care is one of the most rewarding things you can do: knowing it’s in your hands to deliver the best quality of life for your residents and enjoying the variety of a working environment where no two days are ever the same."
A mother of two, Bonnie enjoys spending time with her children, her extended family and her dogs.
