Hazelwell Lodge is a 50 capacity care home with a highly-experienced team, skilled in looking after the needs of people living with dementia and mental health conditions.

Many of the rooms have en-suite facilities, Smart TVs and doors leading out into an enclosed secure garden. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms to support with familiarity and provide a homely feel.

Residents are supported to retain as much independence as possible and comfortable, having a number of lounge areas to choose from, a summer house, bar, small man-made beach, and private gardens with relaxing water features.

Built up of 3 open units, Residents have the choice of where to spend time. It maybe in the 'Bay' unit in the bar or large conservatory, The 'Lilies' unit in the hair and beauty salon, or in the beautiful bright open plan 'Orchids' unit in the lounge or activities room that doubles as a Cinema and snoozeleen area.

One of the home's ways of maintaining a good level of physical and mental fitness amongst individuals is to provide a varied person centred activities programme, consisting of both in-house and outdoor hobbies, interests and entertainments.

Hazelwell Lodge believe that the care home is only as good as the staff who work there. At recruitment stage, only candidates that hold the same values as the home are successful. Staff at the home treat individuals with dignity & respect and adopt a Person Centred approach at all times.

Please feel free to visit at any time. The home looks forward to welcoming you.

My mum was admitted to Hazelwell Lodge toward the end of Nov 16. Shortly thereafter my mum was placed on end of life care. Sadly, mum passed away early Dec 16. Although her time at Hazelwell Lodge was not very long the staff and management at Hazelwell far exceeded my expectations. They went above and
beyond their duties. They, without exception, displayed professionalism, care and more importantly compassion. The staff and management at Hazelwell Lodge ensured my mum's last days were comfortable and she passed with the utmost dignity.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.502) out of 10 for Hazelwell Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.702 for Hazelwell Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 104 Ratings = 4.702

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hazelwell Lodge is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
