The care given to my mother was excellent. The carers were always kind and considerate to my mother and her visiting relatives. Whenever she was ill or needed medical assistance, they were always quick to respond. She was always happy and contented with every aspect of the home, enjoyed any days out
that were organised and treats provided in house. Thank you.

Mum has stayed at Portcullis House for the last 7 months. I am so pleased she is here. Mum is very happy and has nothing but praise for the lovely staff. It has been a very hard time for everyone. We can only thank all the staff for the care and attention they give.

My mother has been a resident at Portcullis House for a number of years now and as a family, we are extremely pleased with the level of care and support she receives and even more so in the last year (2020) as due to national lockdowns we were not able to visit and be part of her life as much as we
would wish. The staff make me feel most welcome and are very accommodating if I need to talk about any concerns or need any advice etc. As for my mother, she’s always smiling and happy when we visit and is very contented and happy with all the members of staff that interact with her.
Portcullis House staff have become an extended part of our family life and we highly recommend and value the team.

Portcullis House is a care home with a capital C in care. My mum is looked after with the most care and understanding that l could possibly wish for. As soon as you walk through the door you can feel the warmth from everyone who works there. There is nothing they won't do to make my mum's stay a pleasure.
I receive regular updates on how's she's doing and if l need a chat there is always a friendly voice on the other end of the phone. Can't fault the home at all we were so lucky to find a room when she needed one.

All my worries and concerns about my Auntie moving into a care facility were completely alleviated on day 1 by the wonderful Carers and staff at Portcullis House. Right from the offset, everything was explained so clearly. Communication on all aspects of my Auntie’s care, in particular with regards
to Covid, is superb, and they are always happy to receive my calls and emails. My Auntie has flourished since she moved here 6 months ago, the staff’s patience and understanding of her condition and quirks is what you would hope from another family member. I highly recommend Portcullis House for all levels of care.

I came to visit my mum for the 1st time since Feb due to lockdown, I was met by a nice lady carer who took my temperature and kitted me out in PPE, as I hadn't seen mum for so long I was concerned how she would be, but when she came out she looked so well and she was extremely happy. We had a great
45 mins and I left happy that mum was happy being cared for thank you Portcullis House.

A delightful home from home delivering warmth and caring of a high standard by lovely staff where nothing is too much trouble and all questions answered.
My beloved husband of 57 years has settled well in his new environment, giving me peace of heart and mind for the first time ever on having to leave

We feel as a family that my sister is being well cared for at Portcullis House with all staff showing care and friendship to both resident and family - nothing is too much trouble for them.
The Activities Team have a very clever way of involving those residents who wish to participate and keep their
attention for maybe an hour taking part in a quiz or simply talking about the past.
Portcullis House is blessed with an excellent staff who all work together.
We could not have found a better residential home for my sister.

On visiting the care home for the first time I was extremely impressed with the support and professionalism of the manager and care staff involved with the care of my father with his dementia. Having not seen my father for many years this first meeting was handled with care, laughter and love and I

My father attended one weeks respite. This was his first experience of this. He is 89 with vascular dementia. I am very grateful for the care he received. The staff demonstrated extreme kindness, care and reassurance. He appeared to receive excellent personal care and enjoyed the social contact, which
has been sadly lacking in his own home. He was disturbed by some behaviour and demands of other severely sick residents who had complex needs. This was the only negative of his first week of care in a residential setting. Thank you to Portcullis House and staff.

Portcullis is a very welcoming place. The staff are extremely kind and helpful, not only to the residents but to visitors and close family. When my husband was ill and needed to go to hopsital the paramedics were very complimentary of the efficiency of the home in dealing with him. There are some small
issues but if I mention they are dealt with and on the whole, I think it is a very pleasant and happy place for him.

Dad went to stay at Portcullis House for rehabilitation before returning home following a stay in the hospital. Unfortunately, a few days later he fell ill with an unrelated illness. The care he received from the staff at the Home was excellent, and we felt assured that he was in good hands. He recovered
following a course of medication and is now fighting fit again. The respite rooms are small but adequate for the residents' needs and are kept clean and tidy. He was delighted with the quality of the food and care he received and would be more than happy to go back to Portcullis House again for respite care.

Welcome to Portcullis House from both myself and the staff team.


Portcullis House has a friendly, welcoming and homely atmosphere throughout. We are a well-established home with a dedicated staff team, providing a high standard of care at a relaxed and comfortable pace. We aim to support you to maintain independence, although help is always at hand. Various activities are provided throughout the day, or you can relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our extensive gardens, sitting by the bubbling water feature, under the shade of the leafy trees or sitting beside our shingle beach feature garden.
