The heating is very efficient. Winter menu provides excellent off. District nurses are kind and helpful during their weekly visits. A month ago I came to Tuder Lodge straight from hospital. My son and his wife had visited previously and were most impressed. I could not have done better.

I was looking for a care home that could accommodate both my mother and father but places like this are very difficult to find. On contacting Tudor Lodge they made this possible by providing two rooms close together, one to be used as a twin bedroom and the other as a sitting room. Since moving to Tudor
Lodge my parents have felt very much at home there. The home is extremely well run with excellent management and staff, nothing is ever too much trouble. The care and attention they receive is of the highest standard, all the staff are very professional and warm hearted treating residents with dignity and love. The communication between the home and myself is first class. One thing I would like to highlight is the outstanding quality and presentation of the food at mealtimes. Also, snacks and drinks are frequently offered throughout the day and "happy hour" at 4pm is a very nice gesture which is appreciated by my parents. When I visit I always receive a warm welcome.
Reply from Chris Arnold, Manager at Tudor LodgeMany thanks for leaving us such a lovely review. We are delighted that you and your parents are so happy with the care at Tudor Lodge. They are a lovely couple and a pleasure to have here.

My grandmother was a resident in Tudor Lodge for a number of years and I cannot praise highly enough all the staff for the care she received there. She loved living there and told me how happy she was. She had a lovely bedroom where she could relax if she wanted to but she would often go down to the
living room to mix with the other residents. She really enjoyed the activities that took place, and particularly liked it when the singer visited as she loved to sing along. The staff were all really caring towards her and very friendly to everyone, if I ever wanted to ask a question about something, they were very helpful. She used to say that the food at mealtimes was very good, and she was always given drinks and snacks between meals during the day. Visiting her was a pleasure, I was always made to feel welcome. Because Tudor Lodge is so good, I could relax in the knowledge that my grandmother was being looked after really well, I had complete faith in the staff there.
Reply from Chris Arnold, Manager at Tudor LodgeThank you so much for your lovely review. Your grandmother was a wonderful character - always keen to join in with everything and with a song for every occasion! She made some great friends with both residents and staff during her stay with us. She will be remembered with much love and affection.

Tudor Lodge has really turned my mother around both physically and mentally, taking each day at a time, according to her needs. To hear her laugh and enjoy life again is amazing. She has a fantastic connection with all the staff and always speaks so highly of them all. I am a frequent visitor to the
home, and it’s refreshing and warming to hear both the staff and the residents laughing together. Everyone is so friendly, and they certainly keep the family members informed of everything. No day goes by without an activity in which everyone is encouraged to participate. The food is of a high standard, and Mum describes the home as a magnificent hotel. I would highly recommend this residential home to your loved ones, and I am confident that we made the right choice for our mum. A real home from home.

Mum felt very at home at Tudor Lodge. The staff and all the residents made her feel very welcome. Her care was exceptional and she always commented on the cleanliness, of not just her room, but the whole home. She enjoyed the get-togethers and activities which kept her mind and body alert. Mum loved
looking at the garden and although would never admit it she loved her visits from Bella the resident cat. She kept the chef on his toes giving him her advice (whether needed or not ) from her many years in catering but the food was always very good. The staff were always professional and kind to all our family. I have and will always recommend Tudor Lodge to anyone wanting somewhere safe and inviting for their elderly family member. Thank you to everyone there.
Reply from Chris Arnold, Manager at Tudor LodgeWhat a lovely review - thank you so much. Your mum was a pleasure to have here and is sadly missed. It is fantastic for all the team at Tudor Lodge to know how much their care was appreciated, both by your late mum and the family - thank you again.

My positive first impression was when the door to Tudor Lodge opened. So welcoming and clean! My father had only been a resident for a few months and I was unable to visit due to travel and Covid regulations. I didn't know what to expect and how my father was coping. There was no need to worry. The
staff encourage my father to join in with the daily/weekly activities. He enjoys the various entertainment. The daily meal menu is plentiful and flexible with my father's individual choice if it is not on the menu. During my visits his room was always very clean, his clothes were clean, and he was dressed appropriately as he needs assistance dressing. The care staff are friendly and professional and engage my father in conversations. My father's safety especially with the assistance required due to his mobility issues was upheld by the staff. Management are responsive to requests and questions.
Reply from Chris Arnold, Manager at Tudor LodgeWe are so pleased that you were able to spend time with your father after Covid restrictions had made travel difficult for so long. Thank you so much for your kind remarks. We look forward to seeing you when you are next able to visit.

My mother was a resident in Tudor Lodge Residential Home, Burnham-on-Sea for the last three years of her life. She passed away at the age of 100 years and 11 months. I could not have hoped for a better place for my mother to stay. It is a wonderful home and has amazing professional staff, all very caring
and compassionate. Nothing is too much trouble. Excellent well-balanced meals are prepared and served with a large selection to choose from. The home is very warm and comfortable with a lovely conservatory and gardens. Entertainment/activities are scheduled every day for the residents. I remained confident that my mother was well looked after throughout her stay at the home and it was a great weight off my mind to know she was safe and happy. I must congratulate all the staff at the home for looking after all its residents during the terrible shut down, due to the Virus. I would be more than happy to recommend Tudor Lodge to anyone who is looking for a wonderful home for their loved ones.

It’s not easy making the decision that your parent needs to move to a care home but I am so pleased and relieved that we found and chose Tudor Lodge. It took Mum a little while to settle initially, but with the kindness, caring, compassion, patience and encouragement of all the wonderful staff, she
became part of their “family”. It’s always so reassuring to see her face light up when she is with them. Mum loves all the activities - especially the singing sessions! The staff have worked very hard to keep everyone safe, complying with the necessary covid restrictions. At the same time, they have obviously recognised and facilitated the emotional and psychological benefits of family contact whenever and however possible, within the restrictions. Every single member of staff I have come into contact with has been friendly and welcoming. I am very reassured that as things change for Mum, they are adapting her care to meet her needs. I can highly recommend Tudor Lodge.
Reply from Chris Arnold, Manager at Tudor LodgeWe are very grateful for your kind remarks which we shall be sure to share with all those who work here. Your mum is a joy to look after and, as you say, it is a pleasure to see how she responds to music.

Have found all the staff very friendly, helpful and caring. During the difficult covid periods, the home bent over backwards to facilitate visits or FaceTime. The staff have made Mum feel like part of the family with their care and attention. Due to her condition and not the easiest of people to deal
with, they took to her, settled her in and helped her feel at home. Thus giving all our family peace of mind that she safe and well cared for.

My Mum was cared for and looked after by the team at Tudor Lodge for 6 years. During the whole of that time, she was very happy and content there. She had previously lived alone for 4 years since the sad demise of her husband and was ready to be looked after and cosseted as she was by now, 91. She always
enjoyed the many activities carried out at Tudor Lodge and the excursions, including picnics, theatre visits, shows etc. She took part in quizzes, games, painting, crafts and singing - she so enjoyed music and singing of which there was plenty at Tudor Lodge if you wanted it. The food was excellent as was the care and kindness of the staff. She also enjoyed the company of other residents and made new friends. As she became older she also became very forgetful but was still very happy and still very well cared for at Tudor Lodge. Sadly, my Mum passed peacefully away in August but the care and kindness of everyone at Tudor Lodge was exemplary and I could not recommend a better place to be.

Our Dad was a resident at Tudor Lodge for 18 months. When looking at care homes, we felt it had the right feel to it, well-run and homely. Dad quickly settled into life there, enjoying the many and varied activities on offer. He had a lovely room with some of his own furniture making it feel personal
to him. Dad was treated with kindness and compassion by all staff, and we were happy in the knowledge that he was safe, cared for professionally, well-fed and warm. The level of care he received was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere is a happy one, visiting Dad, we were always welcomed with a friendly smile and the offer of a cuppa. Communication is excellent, and families are kept updated with regular emails and newsletters. They adapted to deal with the pandemic facilitating outside visits and video calls for us to see and speak to Dad. We are glad that we chose Tudor Lodge for Dad, and we would recommend them to families looking for a loving, caring and homely environment.

Our 93-year-old mother was understandably very apprehensive about moving away to a care home, having spent the previous 55-years in her bungalow. After seeing two other homes in our area, we then visited Tudor Lodge and were immediately impressed with the friendly greeting from the owner and his care
manager plus the amenities available. We had no hesitation in choosing it, and Mum settled in much quicker than we had expected thanks to the wonderful staff. Without exception, they were caring, warm and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble; they all showed genuine love and concern for her. Our family were frequent visitors to the home, and we were always warmly welcomed. Tudor Lodge is extremely well run by the friendly, efficient owner and his team, with excellent food and entertainment which is varied daily. Sadly Mum died recently, but we are so grateful that she spent her final 18-months happy and content in a wonderful home. We can not recommend it highly enough.

Mum moved into Tudor Lodge after a very successful respite stay. The staff are warm, caring and welcoming. Mum enjoys getting involved in activities with the other residents as well as having time in her own room which is large and spacious. For the first time in a while, Mum is safe, comfortable and
able to stop worrying about her tablets, meals and personal care. They have activities daily, the one thing that calms mum is being able to go for a walk. Staff have gone out of their way to make sure they have time to take her out. They have worked with the family to understand Mum's complex needs and support her. I enjoy visiting her, as the staff are so friendly and have made an effort to get to know all of us. All aspects of the home are clean and comfortable - the large sitting room and conservatory are very welcoming. Highly recommended for their understanding of the difficulties families and residents go through transitioning into residential care. Thank you all the team.

My mother was shown nothing but kindness and understanding. She was 83 years of age and had always lived in her own home, the last one for the past 40 odd years. So when she decided she couldn't manage on her own, we were tasked with finding her somewhere special. I am not kidding - when we visited
Tudor Lodge we were so impressed with the atmosphere there, almost like a well-loved country hotel. The staff were welcoming and always spent time with Mum, especially when she had a couple of 'wobbles' of not being in her own home. She was able to bring her own furniture and soon had her home in her room. Her dietary requirements were well met, she had company when she wanted it, she felt very special, especially when the staff told her she was a breath of fresh air. That made her day. I would be more than happy to go and live at Tudor Lodge and would recommend them to others.

Over the last three years, Tudor Lodge has excellently cared for my mother up to her death in December 2019 at the age of 94. She was kept clean and tidy by the careers. There is a wide range of activities providing stimulation and entertainment with regular external trips and a very varied menu with
any specific dietary needs taken care of. All the rooms, both individual and communal, are kept very clean. All in all, it has a very homely feeling with all members of staff making you very welcome and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has a loved one needing that bit of extra care.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.944)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.944) out of 10 for Tudor Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.969 for Tudor Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (220 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.969
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tudor Lodge is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
