Overall Experience

Our 93-year-old mother was understandably very apprehensive about moving away to a care home, having spent the previous 55-years in her bungalow. After seeing two other homes in our area, we then visited Tudor Lodge and were immediately impressed with the friendly greeting from the owner and his care manager plus the amenities available. We had no hesitation in choosing it, and Mum settled in much quicker than we had expected thanks to the wonderful staff. Without exception, they were caring, warm and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble; they all showed genuine love and concern for her. Our family were frequent visitors to the home, and we were always warmly welcomed. Tudor Lodge is extremely well run by the friendly, efficient owner and his team, with excellent food and entertainment which is varied daily. Sadly Mum died recently, but we are so grateful that she spent her final 18-months happy and content in a wonderful home. We can not recommend it highly enough.

Mum moved into Tudor Lodge after a very successful respite stay. The staff are warm, caring and welcoming. Mum enjoys getting involved in activities with the other residents as well as having time in her own room which is large and spacious. For the first time in a while, Mum is safe, comfortable and able to stop worrying about her tablets, meals and personal care. They have activities daily, the one thing that calms mum is being able to go for a walk. Staff have gone out of their way to make sure they have time to take her out. They have worked with the family to understand Mum's complex needs and support her. I enjoy visiting her, as the staff are so friendly and have made an effort to get to know all of us. All aspects of the home are clean and comfortable - the large sitting room and conservatory are very welcoming. Highly recommended for their understanding of the difficulties families and residents go through transitioning into residential care. Thank you all the team.

My mother was shown nothing but kindness and understanding. She was 83 years of age and had always lived in her own home, the last one for the past 40 odd years. So when she decided she couldn't manage on her own, we were tasked with finding her somewhere special. I am not kidding - when we visited Tudor Lodge we were so impressed with the atmosphere there, almost like a well-loved country hotel. The staff were welcoming and always spent time with Mum, especially when she had a couple of 'wobbles' of not being in her own home. She was able to bring her own furniture and soon had her home in her room. Her dietary requirements were well met, she had company when she wanted it, she felt very special, especially when the staff told her she was a breath of fresh air. That made her day. I would be more than happy to go and live at Tudor Lodge and would recommend them to others.

Over the last three years, Tudor Lodge has excellently cared for my mother up to her death in December 2019 at the age of 94. She was kept clean and tidy by the careers. There is a wide range of activities providing stimulation and entertainment with regular external trips and a very varied menu with any specific dietary needs taken care of. All the rooms, both individual and communal, are kept very clean. All in all, it has a very homely feeling with all members of staff making you very welcome and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has a loved one needing that bit of extra care.

My step mum was a resident of Tudor Lodge for 3 years. It was the happiest she had been since my father passed away. She had a comfortable room and was well looked after by the staff, participating in several activities. My wife and I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff on our regular visits and we were always made welcome. Such a lovely environment.

During the two years my mother was a resident at Tudor Lodge, my sisters and I visited many times and always found the atmosphere homely and caring, and the food was good. My mother was always treated as an individual, with understanding, dignity and respect. There was an overall feeling of care and compassion.

My grandmother really enjoys staying at Tudor Lodge. We always receive a warm welcome when we visit. The management and staff are lovely and the activities provided are fabulous. We've visited during arts and crafts, pottery, painting, quiz time, various musical entertainments and even during a visit from some beautiful owls. The residents are well cared for and happy. I would definitely recommend Tudor Lodge to anyone looking for a care home in the area.

Having cared for my elderly mother at home for a number of years my wife and I were very apprehensive about accepting her decision to move to a care home. We arranged for a few trial visits before deciding that her move to Tudor Lodge would be a good thing. That was 18 months ago and we can honestly say that it was the best decision we could have made. She is so well cared for that we have no reservations about the care provided by the staff who all appear to be sympathetic and caring people, well managed by proprietors who are obviously fully engaged in the welfare of all of their residents. My mother has definitely improved since her move to Tudor Lodge where she enjoys the activities, the company and the facilities. She is quite simply happier than she has been for years. it would be difficult to suggest any improvement to the standard of care provided, it is such a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where there is always something going on to engage and interest the residents.

In the 14 years that 4 different family members have been cared for by Tudor Lodge, the care has continually been exemplary.

I can honestly say that the whole system works. The care, the food, the cleanliness, the interest in the individual's needs, the interest in family members, the decor. Everything is thought about. Well Done Tudor Lodge. Not many like you.
