My mother was discharged from hospital with 24 hours notice before the May Day Bank Holiday. However, following her return home, she fell again so the family concluded from that emergency respite care was required immediately.
Following a number of internet searches, we contacted "Evergreen". They
came to our rescue and were almost immediately able to place Mom in their care home.

"Evergreen" is a small "homely" care home with a warm welcoming atmosphere. Staff are kind, caring and professional. Residents are encouraged to spend time together, meals are home cooked and served in a large orangery overlooking the garden and terrace, popular occasions are celebrated ie: Royal Wedding/Easter/Ascot etc. Mom's bedroom is light, airy and smartly decorated with en-suite facilities.

Mom has settled in well - her mobility has improved, together with her appetite and general well being. The family are very happy for her to become a permanent resident.

To move to a care home after living in her house for more than 60 years was a giant step for my mother, who is also registered blind. The care and attention given to her here are amazing. She has settled down very well and is enjoying the company of other residents and staff. It is homely and comforting
and I can now have peace of mind that she is safe and being looked after, and I can sleep at night!!

My relative seems happy and settled. She enjoys the parties and singing. She is always presentable in her own clothes that she has chosen to wear.

Visitors are made welcome and offered a cup of tea or coffee.
Good food is served in the conservatory/dining room. There is a pretty patio to sit on

when the weather is fine.

Evergreen caters to my mother's needs with dignity, integrity and understanding.

There are various activities throughout the year which helps the residents to remain mobile and engaged. The regular visits by the hairdresser etc also ensure the residents can be treated/pampered in a safe environment.

The staff are extremely polite, helpful and understanding. They are also approachable and will always try and assist with concerns or issues residents' relatives may have. I have found the management team to be very resourceful in assisting me with regarding financial and care funding matters.

I have found Evergreen to be a really good place for my mother. The staff are really caring and considerate. She has had no complaints about the care she receives. She is also enjoying the food and sometimes the entertainment brings all of them together.

All in all a very relaxing place and she seems

very happy there.

Since my aunt has been at Evergreen, which is a few months now, her health and attitude have improved. She is 97 years old and found it difficult after living alone and being independent for a number of years. I have noticed her appetite has improved, which of course is beneficial. She likes the food
here and the staff look after her meals (cutting food up) as she is registered blind. I think if I had to be looked after, this could possibly be my first choice. My own mother was in care, but not in a place where the staff and management made each day a pleasure.

Because Evergreen is smaller and privately owned, the service provided is more personal and more easily tailored to suit individual as well as group needs. The fact that the residents have a choice of sitting either in a communal lounge or a conservatory is a bonus - light floods in and can only promote
a feeling of well-being and optimism. Staff are all that you would want them to be, and again, because of the smaller number of residents, they are able to interact more with individuals than perhaps would be possible in a larger facility. The owner has an easy going hands-on approach.

Food is cooked on the premises by an innovative chef, who provides fresh nutritious meals, and who also undertakes 'themed lunches' for anything from St Georges Day to Chinese New Year.

There are many events throughout the year, and residents/family members are encouraged to put forward new ideas. Great thought is put into generating new events to keep the residents happy, healthy and stimulated.

My 98 year old mom moved into Evergreen in march 2016. Mom has settled in really well and looks better now than she has done for a long time. The management and staff are all lovely and caring, nothing is too much trouble. Moms room is spotless and very comfortable and the food is excellent. it's lovely
to have peace of mind that mom is cared for in all aspects of care, 24 hours a day. Evergreen is a friendly and caring home, I would recommend the home to anyone looking for good quality care home for an elderly parent.

Mum had 2 weeks respite at Evergreen after a really difficult time in her life. The staff were extremely supportive and attentive. Since then mum has attended day services 3 days a week. The service has an activity co-ordinator. All staff are helpful and respectful of my mothers needs and are extremely
flexible and professional in their approach. Excellent service.

Moved into Evergreen in January 2016, so far stay has been enjoyable. The rooms are kept very clean. Enjoyed the food. There's plenty of activities going on. Can have visitors when I like, clothes are kept well, washed and ironed. The staff are wonderful, very well presented, friendly, very helpful
and nothing is too much trouble. Always felt very welcome.

Most of the carers provide a happy environment and ensure all residents are well looked after in all aspects such as keeping a clean and tidy room. Good food and personal care, the home is light and airy and residents are happy with entertainment. From outside, indoors activities and special days when
celebrations are given (St Davids day for instance) residents are encouraged to participate in activities and have special meals. (Too much food sometimes)!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.925)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.925) out of 10 for Abbey Court Care is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Abbey Court Care is calculated as follows: ( (204 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 204 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey Court Care is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
