Rated as GOOD by CQC on March 4th 2021, Lady Katherine Housing & Care is a very special care home established by Lady Katherine Leveson in 1674 and the team are proud to have been providing exceptional care to residents for over 300 years since then.

You would live within the rural leafy hamlet of Temple Balsall within majestic 18th century buildings in either residential care or independent living, in fully modernised and CQC regulated apartments. As your needs change you can move from one type of accommodation to another and you can also stay for a spell of respite care. You will live in a safe environment, have the benefit of the care you need from the well trained and friendly team, be able to enjoy the many events on offer and homemade food cooked on site.

Within the hamlet there is the Parish Church of St Mary The Virgin and a primary school so you can become an active part of the community enjoying extended gardens and the countryside. They welcome all, irrespective of race, creed or religion.

It is all very accommodating. The staff are very friendly and helpful and go out of their what to make sure we are well looked after.
My room is very comfortable and the surroundings are beautiful to sit in or be pushed around.
There is always something going on and the staff put on shows and singing
for us, plus the last 2 years a staff pantomime.

Would only recommend any place if asked to. Have put X in some boxes satisfactory to excellent to take into consideration some agency staff to permanent staff. Lady Katherine Leveson is an extraordinary place to live and work in because of the age of the property and grounds it is very quirky but in
a good way. Buildings, flats and surroundings are one-offs. Lots of interest especially with church Old Hall and surrounding but age makes move difficult for staff.

Having known The Foundation of Lady Katherine Leveson for many years as a friend and volunteer, seeing it "from the inside" for 6 weeks of respite care was both interesting and informative. I have no experience of other care homes with which to compare it but as a resident of "Lady K", I was impressed
by the atmosphere of happy informality in warm, bright and elegant surroundings. Help was always cheerfully given even when the staff were having to overcome the occasional difficulties of bad weather and illness. They were quick to meet my unexpected need for which I shall always be grateful.

Lady Katherine Leveson residential care is set in a beautiful setting. It has a Christian ethos and connections with the Church are why we selected it. Staff are caring and helpful. It has taken us time to find out how to get information about my mother and a weekly diary would be helpful as we always
have to seek out the person who is managerial lead.

I am very happy here. There is a warm welcome from the staff who are friendly and caring. I feel safe here. The maintenance and service staff are extremely helpful. The food is excellent and I like the activities and outings arranged for residents.

My husband has been cared for with love and great consideration for his wellbeing, since he entered the home in August 2017. When he was very ill with pneumonia, one carer who was on night duty, stayed with him all night. She was aware that he was dehydrated and gave him water and squash constantly
all night. It saved his life and the next day, he miraculously got up! The care is second to none.

My Aunt joined the Lady Katherine Leveson community in October 2017 following a series of falls and subsequent hospital stays. It was a traumatic experience for her having to give up her home and independence but all at the home made her very welcome and did all they could to smooth the transition.
As a result, she has settled in very quickly and is very happy at Lady K. We are very happy with the excellent standard of care she is receiving which gives us great peace of mind.

We are so grateful to all the staff at Lady Katherine for the care they provided for my Grandmother. She was treated with care, kindness and dignity. As her physical needs increased the staff continued to provide an outstanding level of care. I would, wholeheartedly, recommend Lady Katherine to anyone
considering moving to sheltered housing, needing respite or for longer-term residential care. It is an amazing community, set in beautiful surroundings, providing a wonderful, caring home. I will be forever grateful to the staff for all they did for my Grandma.

Lady Katherine Leveson came recommended and I was lucky enough to find that a vacancy existed for my wife. Since becoming a resident she has been treated extremely well. We have experience of "carers" visiting our house and were sure that we would never enlist their help again. What a revelation it

The staff are happy, friendly and willing. The home is clean, warm and welcoming.
The food is exceptional and there is always a good choice.
The entertainment is excellent with staff arranging special themes i.e Burns night, St George's Day etc. The staff always join in and are extremely attentive
and caring.

My mother has now been in Lady Katherine for six months and is very happy there. They pay attention to her particular wishes and needs and have been marvellous in dealing with her independence and infirmity. She really likes the food, and the way you can ask for a glass of wine or sherry, or a light
supper in your room, and cups of tea for visitors. Sometimes we get frustrated by communication blips but the "senior" care staff and manager are very open and responsive to complaints, questions and suggestions (like tidying up the wheelchair shed).

Jonathan Blancaflor

Job Title: Registered Care Manager Joined: 2010

I have always been passionate about working in care and have been fortunate enough to gain extensive experience in this field over the years, and to be working in such a beautiful, historic environment at Temple Balsall.


I commenced my journey with the Lady Katherine Housing & Care family back in 2010, starting out as a night carer. By 2012, I achieved my Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, paving the way to a career I am deeply passionate about. With a dedication to continuous learning, I successfully completed the NVQ Level 5 Management Leadership for Health and Social Care.


During the twelve happy years working at our care home, I was promoted to increasingly more senior roles until I was appointed the registered care manager in 2022.

I have been working at Lady Katherine Housing & Care home for the last 6 years starting as a Care Assistant and then being progressively promoted to become Deputy Care Manager in 2022.


I have a passion for working in Health and Social Care and love working at Lady Katherine. I studied Health & Social Care at University College Birmingham and then pursued a BA Honours Degree in Social Care at Wolverhampton University. My academic achievements have helped me become a highly skilled and knowledgeable professional in my field.


Working at Lady Katherine Housing & Care is a particularly rewarding experience. I am drawn to the unique atmosphere, history and surroundings of the community. The residents and my colleagues made me feel welcome and valued from the moment I walked through the door. I am grateful to be part of such a warm and caring team and I am committed to continue providing the best possible care to our residents.
