My husband, diagnosed with mixed dementia 5 years earlier, moved to Homestead Care Home straight from hospital. He was welcomed into his light and airy room, well furnished and with en-suite facilities, by patient caring staff, all of whom had an easy cheerful approach to their work. My husband settled
quickly into a routine enjoying the food cooked for him and joining the often stimulating and entertaining activities provided for the residents. Management I found extremely cooperative and friendly, willing to explain and reassure any worries I may have had. I really can't speak too highly of this care home and its management and staff.

It is the staff at Homestead that makes it such a warm and welcoming place to be. They care so much for each and every resident - treating each one with the dignity and respect they deserve. They always say "Hello" with a smile to everyone. I would definitely recommend Homestead as a safe and secure
environment to take care of a loved one.

My Dad came here in September 2018.
We were unaware of him being brought here due to hospital communication (lack of).
Our biggest recommendation is due to how the staff and management here looked after him, we decided to keep him here even though we are 10 miles away.
I can't fault this home in
any way. Top people who work here. Thanks for looking after my Dad properly.

My father in law was made very welcome into the care home and has settled in well. He has improved dramatically since moving in. He gets shaved every day, tea and biscuits mid-morning, looked after really well. You couldn't wish for better staff. A very well run home, the manager is really good at her
job.

The home has amazing staff and the manager is fantastic, a really professional lady in every way. The care is genuine and staff work really hard to care for all the residents. The needs of the residents are varied so it is very challenging. The home has been totally renovated to a very good standard.

Homestead Care Home has changed my mother-in-law. She is like a different person, joining in with whatever activities have been arranged. The carers really co care about the residents. There is no doubt they enjoy their job. The manager, other staff and the owner are also very caring. It's a happy home
and I'm so pleased that my mother-in-law has settled in in a short space of time. It is a wonderful home.

My mom has been here now for just over 2 years. I can only say that since the higher management has changed the home, has gone from strength to strength. She is treated with the dignity she deserves and all the staff treat her as if she was their own mother. Long may this continue.

Residents are woken every morning and dressed ready for the day. Chiropody, hairdressing and shaving are given when needed. Staff training is easy to see because everyone works together as a team which also reflects good managemnet. Although my husband has had two falls this in no way reflects on the
staff. Paramedics arrived quickly and hospital treatment was given if necessary, visitors are always welcome and I have recommended the Homestead Care Home to other people.

The staff are very friendly and will take the time to answer any questions and bring me up to date as to what my husband has been doing, he has dementia he is happy smiling but will not keep still always walking about. He goes to the office for his chocolate. He can be stubborn at times e.g. would not
have his toenails cut, but he is happy so am I with the way he is looked after.

My mums grandson is getting married and he wants her to be there. The staff have been really kind in helping us prepare her for the day. Hair/nails/clothing etc On a daily basis she is well cared for and treated with dignity. I chose this (satisfactory) because I think it's a national disgrace that
she has to pay for her care!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.583)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.583) out of 10 for Homestead Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.658 for Homestead Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 199 Ratings = 4.658
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Homestead Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
